How do I switch from syncing with iTunes to syncing using iCloud without getting duplicate Ono

Hi
I have been syncing my IPad to my mac using iTunes. I would like to start using the cloud to sync my
Contacts, calendar and a small amount of documents. I'm not so concerned with my pictures, video's or
music. they not as time sensitive and can stay with iTunes.
   Do I need to do anything besides disabling those sync functions in iTunes and enable themin iCloud?
I don't want to get a duplicate contact list or calendar. Which are the two main things I need to keep more

        Would I be better off staying with iTunes? I'm on the same wifi network most of the time. My
reasoning behind changing sync methods is the fact that iTunes only syncs when I charge my IPad
and I need A more current sync than once every day or so. (Especially for my calendar.)
   I'm sure the info is buried out here somewhere but I have vision problems which make combing
through the vast amount of info out here a little difficult for me.
     Any thoughts, advise or input would be appreciated.

No help? I can't be the only one that backs up to iCloud and buys right from the iPad that then wants to sych with their desktop.
BTW, it's not jailbroken.

Are you using the original cable that came with Nano and not your iPhone's cable? Have you worked through the troubleshooting in this Apple support document?

I have a MBP 15" with iPhoto 9. When right clicking on icon in dock 3 iPhoto libraries come up; one empty, one with 35,000 photos and one with 30,000 photos. How can I delete the empty one and merge the other two without getting duplicates?

You can delete the empty one by dragging it to the trash ( test everything before emptying the trash)
Merging libraries requires iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - it is the only current solution to merging libraries

Help syncing with iTunes Outlook To Update iCloud

Hello Apple Community,
I have iPhone 4s and have just started to use iCloud. Can somone please tell me the best way I can use iTunes to sync to my Outlook Calendar & Contacts and then back this data to iCloud?
Forgive my lack of knowledge about this. I have always synced to iTunes for my Outlook Calendar & Contacts, but never sent this data to iCloud. Recently I lost all my Contacts & Calendar on the iPhone b/c I lost my PC hard drive (and to keep this story short) led to this new route of sending everything to iCloud.
I have searched for a few days but haven't found Tutorials on how to do this as yet.
So essentially what I am looking for is getting my Calendar and Contact data through iTunes to my iPhone and then send both the Calendar and my Contacts to iCloud.
If anyone can help me with this process I would be very appreciative hearing from you.
After the experience of losing everything and not being the sharpest person when it comes to understanding these things. I very much appreciate your help.

I've got similar problems with my old desk top running on Vista home premium, The problem started just recently (this year) and after iTunes had been updated. For two years I was syncing my Iphone 4S with Outlook 2007 with no problems. It just so happened that my wife's loptop was no longer reliable, so I bought her for Christmas a MacBook Air. After settng it up for her I realized the benefits and convenience having her Contacts, and Caleder on the icloud. She also has an iPhone 4S. I then decided to try and set up icloud with my desktop's oulook and my iphone. At first it seemed that it was working although I felt something was not the same as before. It did not take long to realize that something undesirable was going on with my desktop. I could not figure out what. Looking into it I saw that iCloud (at least the latest version) could only be used with Windows 7 and 8. Having Windows Vista I proceded to remove iCloud from my desttop. In the process, to make a long story short, I had to remove iTunes and reinstall it without the iCloud. I found out removing iTunes is not as easy as it sounds. If you ever need to look it up elsewhre in this website, it requires a specific order of removing the components. By the way removing iTunes does not remove the Libtrary of songs (in my case a couple thousand). With the fresh installation my songs came back which made me happy. Reseting the fresh version of iTunes to sync with my iPhone (not using the iCloud) has not worked so far. Today is the second day working on it hope to get it going again.
By the way at one point I lost my contacts and calendar from my phone, however when I set the iPhone switches for iCloud all the contacts and Calendar data came back to my phone.

Ipod syncs with itunes, well sync completes it converts to "other" cap.

I am using a mac mini, running OS 10.5.1 with itunes 9.0.2. Computer was just reformatted and ipod has been restored and software up to date. When I connect my ipod to itunes the ipod is recognized and start to sync music file to the ipod. in the progress bar its shows it in blue saying it is loading music. When the ipod finishes syncing its changed the data format on the ipod to "other" and the colour changes from blue to orange (supposed 42g of music changes to 42g of other). I have restored the ipod 4 times and also tried using a new login for the computer. All the music plays fine in itunes.

Nano not syncing with iTunes but syncs with windows

I cannot sync my sons Xmas present with iTunes.
I have tried changing the drive and turning of iPod in systems and starting it again but no joy.
It is recognised in windows but iTunes does not recognise it, my son is gutted as he cannot use it and so am I.

Ical not syncing with Blackberry Curve when using iCloud

I recently signed up to sync my contacts and iCal with iCloud. I manually sync my Contacts and iCal using hte BlackBerry DesktopSoftware. Since around the time I activated iCloud, I do not see any new events on my Blackberry Curve 8320. Contacts sync fine. Also, the BB DesktopSoftware shows a calendar that I had created on the MacBook using BusyCal but has since been deleted and no longer shows on iCal.
I have spent hours with the BB Tech support (on Mac) and they have told me that it is a known issue with the Sync Server software on 10.7.4 when also using iCloud. They say this has been fixed in MacOS 10.8.
Anyone else has seen this issue and is there any other solution without having to upgrade to 10.8? I am perfectly fine with NOT using iCloud if that is what I have to do. I just want the manual sync to BB to work with iCal.
Is there a way to "reset" the Sync Server software to its original state?
Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

Since I don't have any definitive confirmation from Apple or BlackBerry on whether Mountain Lion will fix this or not, I simply deleted iCloud from my Mac and now everything syncs properly.

i bought a ipod touch from a coworker and it wont sync up with my pc. i have reloaded itunes 5 times, checked my security which is allowing it through and had the ipod and sync cable checked at a local store. i think it has somthing to do with vista operating system, the ipod does not show up in devices and it continues to beep when it is plugged into the usb. this is my first ipod and so far am very frustrated .

You probably need more free space on your phone, not in your iCloud account. (Additional iCloud storage doesn't increase the space on your phone.)
Check Settings>General>Usage to see how much available space you have. If you need more and your music is in your iTunes library, delete your music by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipe across All Music, tap Delete. Then back up and sync with iTunes, and sync back the music you still want on your phone.

I had to restore my iPhone to factory settings and now I can't sync with iTunes.

I had to restore my phone and I was able to use the most recent backup. However, when I plug into iTunes, it keeps asking if I want to restore from a backup or start as a new iPhone. I have already restored from the backup twice, but the message won't go away. How can I sync with iTunes?

It's weird that you have to restore from backup, and then choose to start as a new phone. But I didn't lose ANYTHING when I did it that way! Thank goodness!

I need to delete albums that I synced with itunes photo. 1 album has loaded duplicate photos. how do I delete?

Hi,
Connect the phone to iTunes, go to the Photos screen and depending on how you sync the photos in the first place, either un-check the sync all photos or the specific album you want to remove.
Once un-checked, click on the Sync/Apply button at the bottom of the screen and those photos are then removed from the phone.

Ipod classic won't sync with itunes 10.6.3

My new iPod Classic 7th Gen (2.0.5 mac) is not syncing with iTunes 10.6.3. I get an error message telling me to update iTunes to a version above 10.7.
This is not possible on a Powermac G5 (10.5.8) since it has no Intel Core.
Is there any way to restore the the iPod Classic to an earlier firmware version (before 2.0.5), that can communicate with iTunes 10.6.3?

Then I guess this iPod is going back to the store. I have a PPC G5, and everything was working fine. But, I just lost my iPod classic from two years ago, and just bought a replacement... now I cannot use iTunes 10.6.3 to synch with it. I am *not* buying a new computer *just* to sync my iPod. I will try linux synch software and if that doesn't work then it's going back to the store.

It's not very clear to me what you're trying to accomplish with iCloud, but if you want to start backing up to iCloud, then you can follow the directions in the article below. If this is not what you are trying to do, then please let me know what you're wanting to use iCloud with.
