How do I switch ITunes account to new computer

Old lap top met a tragic end due to a 4 year old and a cup of OJ.  We purchased a new iMac and need to transfer the ITunes account to the new computer, but we aren't sure how to do it.

An account is nothing more than a login and password.
If what was really meant was how to get the media on the new computer, copy it (the ENTIRE iTunes folder) from the old computer to the new computer.

Try the Store column from iTunes' menu.  There should be a "sign in" or some similar entry there.

How can I use iTunes on my new computer, without losing all my music?
I don't want to rebuy everything I have purchased over the years.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

They should be in your itunes media folder. Use an external hard drive and just copy that to your new computer. I'm sure there's an easier way like this one (iTunes>File>Library>Export Library>External Hard Drive) but I never tried it before. Anyways, once that's done, just simply authorize your itunes account to play music you bought on to the new computer.

  • I have a laptop with a bad hard drive,  my iTunes library is on an external hardrive. How do I move iTUnes to a new computer and have it work?

I have my iTunes Library all saved on an external hard drive.  I have iTunes on the desktop of my laptop.  The hard drive in my laptop is going bad.  How do I move iTunes to another computer and be able to use my external hard drive?  This may be easier than I might think.  I hope so.
    Thanks

I bought a new laptop.  How do i transfer my itunes to this new computer with an external hard drive?

Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.

  • Authorizing Itunes account on new computer

I downloaded the newest Itunes on my new computer.  Transferred my old itunes library from my old computer onto the new itunes on my new computer.  I signed in and authorized the new computer.  Not all but maybe half of my purchased songs mainly ones that I didn't purchase recently are not playing and are showing the pop-up to authorize and keep poppping up even after the fact of authorizing.  I have spent two hours uninstalling/installing/authorizing/deauthorizing and even tired trouble-shooting from past Apple archives on this issue such as user/family controls in the control panel.  Can anyone please help me?

I confirmed that this only effects my purchased songs from 2008 and earlier which makes it even stranger.  My Apple ID has never changed.

  • How can I switch iTunes accounts without losing purchases?

When I purchased my wife an iPhone, I made the mistake of setting her iPhone up on my iTunes account. It had never been a problem until now with iCloud and other such features that are connected with the iTunes account. Is it possible to switch her to her own iTunes account and still retain the music/apps/etc she has purchased for her device? Thanks.

Agreed, I would like to able able to split my daughters account up from mine. I do not believe there is a way to do this however.

  • How do i switch itunes accounts on my iphone?

Is it possible to change itunes accounts from my iphone 4S??? The account i have now is known by my computer, but my phone acts like it has no idea that i got rid of the old one!!!! Now i can't upgrade or get new apps because my iphone is still using the old account. What do I do??? Please help

All apps purchased using an Apple ID are forever tied to that ID. You cannnot merge, transfer Apple ID.
If you need to update those apps, you have to use the same Apple ID used to purchase them.
