How do I switch music from my old computer to new one???? PLEASE HELP

i just got a new computer and i'd like to use my ipod on ths one instead but i really dont want to lose all of my music! if you know anything it would be really appreciated! thanx

I just did this same thing last night. Go to the main support page on the Apple site. On page 15 of the tutorial there are detailed instructions that go like this...
Use your iPod to transfer music to another computer.
Select your iPod in the iTunes source list, click the iPod Options button, and then choose the option to Manually manage songs and playlists.
Look at the bottom of the iTunes window to check the amount of free space available on your iPod.
If the amount of space used is greater than half the total space, you’ll need to delete songs from your iPod by selecting them and pressing the Delete key on your keyboard.
Go to the Advanced menu and choose Consolidate LIbrary. This will make sure that all music on your computer is stored in the same place.
Quit iTunes and then locate the iTunes folder. On a Mac you’ll find it in the Music folder in your Home folder. On a PC you’ll find it in the My Music folder inside the My Documents folder.
Copy the iTunes folder to your iPod, eject the iPod, and then connect it to the new computer.
Copy the iTunes folder from the iPod to the same location on the new computer, replacing an existing folder if necessary.
Delete the iTunes folder from your iPod to make room.
Open iTunes on the new computer. You’ll see your entire music library.
In iTunes, set your iPod to automatically update all songs and playlists. Your iPod is now linked to your new computer.
Good luck! If you have many songs...it will take an hour or more.

If your music was ripped from CDs, you will need to re-rip it to your iTunes library on your new computer. But if you bought your music from iTunes, they are still in iCloud, and you can redownload them at no cost. Sign in to the iTunes Store on your computer, then click on "Purchased" on the list on the right hand side. You'll see everything you have ever bought from iTunes in there, and anything that's not currently on your computer will have a little cloud with a downward pointing arrow in it. Click on the cloud symbol next to whatever you want to download, and it will download to your computer. Plug in your iPod and synch it, and you're done. Hope this helps!

Lost old backed-up files while moving music from an old computer to new Mac

I was following the support topic, "How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer" on the support tab for iTunes. I followed all of the instructions and in one of the final steps, I was gping to put the estimated 1000 songs I already had on my Mac back into itunes. BUT, the folder on the desktop that SHOULD have had the files in it is completely empty. I need help locating those files. iTunes now only show the roughly 700 songs that I transferred in from my old computer. My boyfriend is going to be so angry if I lost 1000 of his songs...I followed the instructions on backing up those songs...how can I fix this??? I was given a new ipod nano for christmas which I have registered but I can not work out how to transfer the library from my old nano to my new nano. I have a new laptop which doesnt have all the original files on so wonder if it is even possible? Any help is really appreciated

Got a new computer and I just wanted to transfer all the contacts in my address book from there to my new computer on Thunderbird rather than painstakingly doing it one at a time! Can I import them all?

I think I should clarify a bit more... Both my old computer and new computer have Thunderbird on them. I just want to "magically" get all my address book contacts from the old computer and older version of Thunderbird to the new computer and newer version (I assume) of Thunderbird. Is this possible? I am not REAL computer literate so the directions (if there are any) must be easy to understand.

I have removed the adobe suite from my old one and loaded it onto my new one but I no longer have the licensing information to certify my software. I only just purchased CS6 at the begining of the school year and not ready to sign up for the new subscription service. You must have serial number key for your CS6 product and its media. Please use that installing and serializing your product. Do let me know in case you don't have the installer

If the music was purchased from the iTunes Store, simply sign into your iTunes Store account on iTunes. From there, go to the main page of the store. Then, on the right, there should be a purchased button. Tap there, and walla! You can download all of your past purchases. If it wasn't from the iTunes Store, use a third party Mac app.

If you do not have a back up of the crashed hard drive you can download an app to copy from the iPhone to iTunes on the new hard drive.
I have used Pod2Mac. There is also Pod2PC.
