Just got Powerbook G4 back from service -- new, blank everything. Want to move purchased music from iPhone back into iTunes. Most everything else syncs fine -- put contacts and calendar back but can't put music back... HELP. iPhone Model MA712LL Version 1.1.4 (updating says it will erase all files).

It's only a one way transfer with iTunes and iPod/iPhone (except for songs purchased ON your iPhone). You can thank the RIAA for that. I guess it's safe to assume you didn't make a backup of your hard drive before you sent it off to Apple.
Just in case it still works, you can try Senuti.

Old computer dead, How can I sync my iPhone contents into new computer

Hi Pro,
My old computer dead. But my iPhone was synced with it. when I try to sync it with my new computer, it always ask me to allow it erease my iPhone contains. But that is the the only thing I left. all musics, Voice memos etc. are in iPhone. The important is the voice memos, I can loss them.

i have 359 contacts on icloud but i have way more on my iphone. For ex: the most recent contact that's on my iphone is 'john smith" but when i logg into icloud, his info is missing? i tried syncying and backing up my iphone but the contact is still missing from icloud. Also, how can i view my pics on icloud? On my iphone settings, i already backed up into icloud and i have photostream on... but i cant view the pics on icloud.

Okay. Two caveats to be aware of. First, the contacts will all appear in a singe merged list. If you want to separate them into groups as you have them now, you will need to manually create the groups on icloud.com, then drag and drop the appropriate contacts into each group. Secondly, there is no sync between your iCloud contacts and your exchange account contacts. If you add, delete or change an iCloud contact you will not see these changes take place in the corresponding contact in your exchange account.
To do this, you will need to use an app like My Contacts Backup. If you have more than 500 contacts in your exchange accounts you will need to get the Pro (paid) version. Then do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup (or My Contacts Backup Pro if over 500 contacts). Use this to backup the remaining contacts on your phone (from your exchange accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself. Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), set this to iCloud.
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the exhange account contacts to iCloud. You will see duplicates of your exchange contacts until you perform either step 6 or 7.
If you still want to be able to access your exchange account contacts on your phone (rather than only the copies in iCloud), open Contacts, tap Groups, tap each of your exchange account groups until they are unchecked, then tap Done. This will hide them from view and eliminate the duplicates.
If you don't need to access your exchange account contacts now that copies are in iCloud, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap each of your exchange accounts and turn Contacts to Off.

Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

I just recently lost my old iMac where I had all my music stored on the hard drive. thankfully I backed everything up in iTunes Match. Now I've gotten a new MacAir and all my music and playlists show up on iTunes as they did on my old computer, except all 449 songs are now in the cloud and no on my hard drive. I've downloaded 5 new songs onto my MacAir and added them to my playlist so that I could sync them on my iPhone. However, when I go to sync my iPhone, it says there's only 5 songs I can sync, and does not appear to be reading the other 449 songs stored on the cloud in iTunesMatch. How do I sync my iPhone with all the songs on my iTunes playlist, and not just those songs stored on the hard drive?

One of the reasons why including your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data is a good idea. The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
There are some 3rd party paid utilities that provide for transferring content that was not purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPhone.

I found the following information about that error message:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.
