How do I sync calendars/contacts on two iPhones?

I've been doing a lot of googling and haven't found a good answer to this yet. My wife and I each have an iPhone and we would like to sync our calendars (via push ideally) and contacts (fetch is good enough). Is this even possible? She already has an exchange account set up for work so that also throws a wrench into things. Any suggestions? This is driving us nuts...i can't believe there isn't a simple solution to this...

Ok, because Apple's sharing features are total crap, here's how i've got it "working". I have a MobileMe Family subscription. I set up one of the accounts as a "shared account" and I shared it's contacts (Address Book > Preferences > Sharing) with the other accounts. This also allows me to add that account to the iPhone for just contact updates. Then I subscribe to a Google calendar on the Macs and iPhone.
I think Apple needs to evaluate the sharing capabilities or lack-thereof for many of their apps. Photos (iPhoto), music (iTunes), calendars (iCal), contacts (Address Book) etc should all be more agreeable. If you get a chance (and agree) complain to Apple about their sharing problems. Give them some feedback!

It's a good idea to backup your Mac Address Book application and iCal Calendars application from each application. This way you can go back and pull out items if you lose something. I do this everyday.

I ran into this same issue this morning and from what I read within the Apple Communities, the only way to now sync is to use iCloud.
I set this up afterward and it seems to work.

Do you use iCloud? On both devices - Go to Settings>iCloud and turn on Contacts, calendars, reminders, and whatever you want to sync in those settings.

How do I keep the contacts on two iPhones separate? At present, when I add a contact to my iPhone 4, it appears on hubbies iPhone 4s, If I delete it from his phone, it also deletes from mine. Help please!!

It sounds as if you are both using the same iCloud account and are syncing via iCloud. You need to have separate iCloud accounts.

    Hey dthompson2108,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
You can sync contacts between your iPhone and MacBook Pro using iCloud or iTunes.
See this link for help with setting up iCloud on your computer and device(s):

Instead of turning on iCloud on your iPhone and Mac, you can sync using iTunes as explained in this article:

  • How do I sync my contacts from my iphone to microsoft outlook (laptop)

How do I sync my contacts and  my calendar from my iphone to my new laptop. I used Microsoft Office. I used to be able to add items in my phone and they would automatically be added to my laptop. Thanks.

Do you still have your old phone? What kind of phone was/is the old one? If your old phone is an Android and you still have it turn it on. Hook up to WiFi, Go to your contacts and change them to google Contacts. Then go into your new phone and change it to Google Contacts as well.
Then when Google syncs all of your contacts back to your phone, kill the Verizon Cloud / Backup Assistant on your phone and back them up to the very simple and fast Google.  Backup Assistant is not worth the time and effort to get things half right and is probably one of the worst apps I have ever seen.

  • How do I sync my contacts in my iPhone to my iPad?

I can't sync my contacts from my iPhone to iPad any idea how?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • HT201269 How can i sync my contacts from the iPhone to my mac pro?

    Hi
I am trying to sync my contacts on my IPhone to the mac pro but it seems not work.
Any one faced this issue and solved, Please advice.
    Regards

If you want your contacts to remain in sync across iOS devices, then you can use any Exchange-type of account.  For example, once you have a "clean" set of contacts with no duplicates, you could upload that into iCloud so that any change you make from your iPad would be reflected on your iPhone.  You don't have to use iCloud for e-mail since your devices can pull a contact from iCloud for use with GMail or Yahoo.
But you can also set GMail up as an Exchange account if you don't want to use iCloud.  The GMail account type in iOS is not Exchange, but you can set it up that way:
    http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?l=en&topic=14252&answer=138740
The benefit of doing this is (a) your Google contacts remain in sync across all your devices, and (b) your GMail will then support Push notification.  Just one caveat, when you do this then the default behavior when you delete an e-mail is such that it is archived to your "All Mail" folder in GMail.  The only way to change this behavior is to use your device's Safari to navigate to m.google.com/sync and change the setting on Google's server for each of your devices.  This is a one-time thing, but important if you want trashed e-mails to really go to Trash.
As far as Contact Management Software options to clean things up, Google search is the only recommendation I have

  • How can I sync calendars between my mac, iphone and android phone

I use an iPhone as my primary phone, but do travel alot and need to have a secondary phone with a local SIM card when I travel. For this reason, I am considering buying an android phone. One of my major concerns though, is how would I be able to (if possible at all) sync calendars and contacts between all the devices. Today with iCloud I can get the iCloud syncing between my iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone. When I introduce an android device, I am going to have to bring in Google calendars as well, so how do I get my iCal calendars to automatically sync to google calendars without having to creat duplicate calendars or without having to basically migrate to using only google calendars? Same goes for the contacts?

On your Mac and iPad, turn off iMessage.

  • How do I sync Google Contacts groups to iPhone

I have all my Google contacts in different Groups.  I would like to have those same Google contacts groups synced to iPhone Contacts app. I followed instructions to sync iPhone Contacts with my Google account.  All my Google contacts did sync to iPhone but there were no iPhone contact groups created. So I have one huge list of contacts. How do I sync the Google contacts groups?  Thank you

Hi - from the"iPhone 6 User Guide for iOS 8.1",I followed the following steps:
Use your Google contacts: Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, tap your Google account,
    then turn on Contacts.
So I entered Gmail and password. Then withing Contacts app I pressed the Sync link.  Afterwards I've got all contacts in one big list, just not categorized by Google groups.

    Hello carrie867,
The following article contains step-by-step instructions for settings up Google Contact Sync on your iOS device:
    iOS: Syncing with Google Contacts

Follow these steps to set up contact syncing with Google Contacts:

Enter the following information in the fields:
    Server: google.com
User Name: Enter your full Google email address
    Password: Your Google account password
Select Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.
After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.

Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings), and that the port is 443.

  • HOW DO I SYNC MY CONTACTS FROM MY IPHONE 4 TO MY NEW MACBOOK PRO?  AFTER THE INITIAL SYNC!

I SAW SIMULAR QUESTIONS....BUT THE ANSWERS SAID TO PLACE ONE UNIQUE CONTACT THEN SYNC UP YOUR COMPUTER FOR THE FIRST TIME.  WELL, I ALREADY PASSED THAT STEP.  SO IS THERE A WAY TO MERGE THE CONTACTS IN RETROSPECT?

You need to be on the same apple id on both devices, and sync the contacts.
Or, save a back up on the iTunes from your iPhone 4, and then restore that back up on the iPhone 5C.

  • How can I sync my contacts from my iphone to my SIM??

I have iPhone 3GS and it got broken, so I wanted to have it repaired, but I can't, because I have all my contacts in my iPhone and I can't find a way to put it on my SIM. Can somebody help me ?

    You cannot.
The iphone does not store to SIM at all.
The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer.  You should have been syncing your contacts to your computer from the very beginning.
Your contacts should be in whatever program, on your computer, you have chosen to sync.
