How do I sync contacts and calendar?

I do not care to use iCloud and now they have removed syncing from itunes is there a way to sync to an iPad?

The sync process for contacts and calendar events with a supported app on your computer is a bi-directional or true sync process.
There is a way to replace on the iPhone with what is available in the supported application on your computer but not the other way around.
If the supported application on your computer includes contacts and calendar events and the same with your iPhone, with the first sync for this data you will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

  • How can I sync contacts and calendar via iTunes 11.1.8 to iOS 3.1.3 (iPhone 1)?

I am proud owner of an iPhone 1 and it still works fine, but runs on iOS 3.1.3. I updated my 2 year old iMac to Mac OS X (10.9) and I am now using iTunes 11.1.8. Actually, I bought my iMac because I was so enthusiastic to see how smooth syncing with my iPhone worked. Now, since OS X, I can not sync calendar and contacts anymore. I had to reset my iPhone and start from scratch, so contacts and calendar are empty.
Sync via iTunes does not work anymore because Apple deleted the direct sync function and my iPhone's iOS does not support iCloud.
Sync via CalDav does not work, beause for some reason my iCloud account is not approved when trying to create it in mail/calendar/contacts (I tried several times, crosschecked, all data appear correct to me and work in the browser access).
Sync via Google does not work, because obviously, my iOS does not support their calendar and contacts function.
Sync via Windows PC might work, but I would have to set one up from scratch.
Downgrading to iTunes 10.7 failed, because OS X didn't allow it. Downgrading the Mac OS might be an option, but I am already running e.g. Books and using it a lot.
    Any help is welcome.

P.S.: I still remember Steve Jobs saying "it simply works!"

Thank you Meta, but I could not get the calendar and contact sync with Gmail to work. Apple support already suggested to use Google or a Windows PC. Maybe I should actually reset and try my old Windows PC. Seriously, ... can this be the solution after a Mac OS update for pure Apple users?

  • How do we sync contacts and calendars (ONLY) between two iCloud accounts, two iPhones and one iMac with two user accounts?

This is complex.  Until today we had one iMac with two user accounts - one for me and the other for my wife.  We sync'd our calendars and contacts between our two user accounts using my iCloud account, thereby keeping our schedules coordinated and our contacts information always the same between us.  Also, as I had an iPhone, I sync'd my phone with my iCloud account, thereby keeping the contacts and calendars in the two user accounts on the iMac AND my iPhone sync'd.  (I also sync'd other things, like Notes and Mail and Safari settings, between my iPhone and my user account on the iMac, but my wife did not want to be burdened with all my emails showing up in her email account and I wasn't interested in hers, etc., so we didn't sync anything between us other than calendars and contacts.)
We've finally bought my wife an iPhone and set up an iCloud account for her.  And of course she now wants to sync several items from HER account on our iMac to HER iPhone, but I don't want them, just as she doesn't want all of my other stuff.  But we still want our mutual calendars and contacts to sync to HER new iPhone, just like they already do to mine.  But I can't figure out how to CHANGE her iMac user account from using MY iCloud account on the iMac to using HER new iCloud account, and then having HER iCloud account speak to MY iCloud account but share JUST our calendars and contacts.
Originally I tried a workaround by simply having her iPhone log into my iCloud account.  That works great for the calendars and the contacts.  But...she can't sync anything else from her iMac account to her new iPhone because she's presently "forced" to use my iCloud account.  And neither of us want to sync our other things to each other's iMac accounts or iPhones.  Also as we're both using my iCloud account, in things like the Find My iPhone app, the Cloud is seeking two phones labeled with my name and none with her's.  So we definitely don't want this as the set-up and communications network between our devices.
We want to set up our users on the iMac to sync to our SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT iCloud accounts and then have those iCloud accounts sync calendars and contacts (ONLY) between themselves, and then push that data to our separate iPhones (or the other way, from either of our iPhones to the individual accounts on our iMac and the other person's iPhone).  Does this description make sense to you?  I've diagramed it nicely using Keynote, but even thiough I can draw it, I can't figure out how to set up and configure all the devices to make it work.  If you would like me to send the Keynote slides (just two of them - the current and desired configurations - please send your email address to me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to forward it to you.
If anyone can help me set this up I'd be most appreciative!  Thanks so much.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all readers in this community!

I had the same problem, and decided to look into it last night.
First of all, the solution I would like to have is for Apple to allow for selection of iCloud accounts per application, i.e. Contacts to one, Photo Stream to another. I believe this would be the most straight forward solution for the problem we are facing.
Since this is not an option I came up with a workaround. I was most interested in solving this for Contacts, so this is what I tested for. Now I have all 3 devices with the same contacts.
    1) Turn off iCloud for Contacts on all devices. On the device that has the Contacts list that you would like to propagate to all others select to keep the contacts, and on the others select not to keep them.
Note that the current backups still exist on iCloud, so in case something goes wrong you can still turn the iCloud for Contacts back on to get your current Contacts back.
    2) In iTunes, sync All Contacts with the phones, starting with the one with the Contacts content you chose to keep.
From this point on, the 3 devices should sync contacts with each other.
This, of course, will stop your iCloud backups of Contacts, but I don't think this is really needed. You are already storing copies of your Conacts on 3 devices, which for good parts of the day are likely not all co-located. You also potentially have Time Machine backups turned on, which would mean there is a 4th copy there as well. For the case of Contacts iCloud only complicates matter ... that is until Apple implements the solution I first wrote about.

  • How do I sync contacts and calendars?

I know it seems like a basic question but here is what happened. I was getting this loud popping noise on my iPhone so I restored it as a new iPhone. I used to be able to open the calendar app (with 'push' disabled and fetch set to manual) and it would retrieve the data from my mobileme account. Since that restore, I can't wirelessly sync my cal and contacts. What changed?

Go to Settings -> Mail,Contacts,Calenders then you should be able to set up your contacts and calenders sync from MobileMe. If you have not set up your MobileMe account since you restored this is most likely your problem. You just need to set up your phone with the account again.

How do I sync contacts and calendar from macbook pro to ipad2?

I have the same problem and have not been able to get contacts transferred from my MacBook Pro to my iPad 2.  I have checked "sync contacts", when it does the sync it says it is syncing contacts, but the address book on the iPad remains empty.  I tried checking the box under "advanced" that says to replace the contacts information on the iPad, sync again, same result—an empty address book on the iPad.  Any suggestions?

  • Can't Sync Contacts and Calendar -- Look Here

Ok, to quell the confusion on this issue let me fix the general errors with this so others here can see why this is caused and how to fix it.
First if you cannot sync contacts and calendar and only those two items check your hotsync log. And look for contacts and calendar if you do not see these items this means you have an exchange server setup on the device or did at one point. To fix this go into email(Versamail) and tap on your account name in the top left then go to accounts and account setup. Once in here check all your accounts by clicking on them and then hitting edit. Look for EAS or only one server address. If this is what you have you are syncing to exchange and Versamail takes over contacts and calendar from hotsync. This cannot be changed. If you do not have EAS or one server on the device. It is possible that Versamail is holding the contacts and calendar due to you had exchange before. If this is the case the only thing you can do is a hard reset to resolve the issue. I understand that most cannot backup there data(contacts and calendar). But to fix this issue you will need to do the hard reset.
If you are not using exchange and find contacts and calendar in your hotsync log but have OLERR under them please look at this KB for possible fixes to this issue. http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/NUA/launchKB.asp?c=31167
Lastly if you are using Verizon's WirelessSync. Just by having this installed will disable contacts and calendar from syncing. To enable this go into WirelessSync then settings-->advanced settings and enable other sync applications.

I'm having this issue, but can't find any issues with an Exchange server (I don't work in a big office, and we don't have one set up).  My phone did a hard reset this past weekend when I tried to send a picture via Snappermail (which I use instead of Versamail, if it matters); I was able ot restore all my data with the next hotsync, but, after that, it stopped syncing the Contacts and Callendar (but the hotsync log shows no errors--although it also doesn't say htey synchronized correctly, either).  I've tried doing what was suggested in the first post of this thread (to the best of my ability--as I don't use Versamail, I just tried to do the same thing with Snapper, and made sure no accounts were up on Versamail).  I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop, and performed a hard reset on my Treo.  Still, nothing.  I'd backed up the contacts and addresses on my memory card with FileZ, and that's the only place I've got the current info--I somehow lost the separate back-up I'd created on my desktop (outside of my Palm folder) for my contacts, although the datebook info is still there.  I'm using Vista, and running Desktop 6.2.2.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated immensely--I've lost a few nights sleep trying to get this figured out, and am at the end of my rope.  Thanks!

Unable to sync contacts and calendar with HP Laptop using MS Outlook 2010 and I-phone 4gs since OS 6 upgrade

The activation server is gone for AA7, but not AA8 as understand it. You will need to do the updates for AA8 to be effective on Win7. It is questionable that it will run on WIn8 (I have no clue for a MAC).
Your conversation is an example of how many of us got here in the first place. It is fantastic that you were able to hold on and get the problem resolved. Not exactly sure of the solution, but there does seem to be light at the end of the tunnel for folks. Normally, with activation problems like yours, we recommend calling Adobe Support for them to reset the activations. I was just wanting to get a heads up about AA8 on the newer systems. Folks have been successrul on Win7 with the updates, but the results for Win8 are still not known in general. There have been some suggestions, but nothing more. As long as it works for you that is great. For our info, what OS are you running?

  • Email services that can sync contact and calendar ...

    Hi,
I am thinking to changing my email address from Hotmail to either Ovi mail or GMX mail. Gmail is out of the question as I prefer to stay away from Google.
Does any of these email services are capable of syncing contacts and calendar with Nokia E6? Mail for exchange only works with Hotmail?
If Ovi mail or GMX works which one would you prefer? Another free email service is also welcome
    Thanks

In the Calendar app itself, you can control which integrated calendars are reflected and acted upon. With the calendar app running, pull down from the top and select "Manage"...tic on or off those calendars so that only what matters to you is showing on the device.
The event you have cited is likely an automatic holiday insertion...you have to manage the source of that insertion if you want to change what it does with the individual calendar. It's not a duplicated event...it's you showing, on your device, 3 calendars that all happen to have the same holiday event on them. If you suppress a calendar, that event will not show on your device...if you change (on the server) how that calendar handles holidays, that would effect how it shows on your device (if you keep that calendar showing on your device).

  • Can I sync contacts and calendars with iTunes Match enabled?

I’m getting an iPhone in a couple of weeks and really want iTunes match but the more I read about it the more I’m wondering whether it’ll be worth the hassle. I’ve loads of old CD rips at 128 kbps and protected iTunes files, also at 128 kbps, and what really attracts me is the idea of upgrading all these to unprotected 256 kbps.
I have a Macbook for personal use and a PC for work, being able to sync both computers to the phone will be essential for me. I know that I wouldn’t be able to sync music with iTunes match enabled but if I can sync contacts and calendars and drag Office documents to the phone from both computers that would be OK.
Please could someone tell me whether this would be possible?

I think I understand now, it's nothing to do with syncing music - everything is synced through iTunes. Have I understood properly?
    Yes. Including music.

This could be a major blow for me as I'll be using the iPhone mainly for work so I will have to Sync with the PC. If I understand this correctly, once I decide to sync with Outlook on the PC as the main priority I can no longer sync with the Macbook?
What if I ditch iCloud and sync everything through USB?
If it is possible for you to do so you might want to consider signing up for an iCloud account <http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html>. Keep in mind that iCloud and iTunes Match are seperate services. One does not require the other. However iCloud will work with Outlook 2007 and up so you can keep all your contacts in sync across the devices. You can also sign up for iTunes Match if you want. Or you might even consider using Google to do what you want. It is not necessary for you to keep syncing via USB, unless that is just what you are comfortable doing.

  • Sync contacts and calendar

I have a iPod 5th Gen Video and a iPod Touch. When I try to sync contacts and calendar it does not work. I get a message pop up saying "cannot sync calendar. Log out & log back in". I am using Windows Vista and the latest iTunes and Outlook 2003.
Now at work I use Win XP and Outlook 2003 and both iPods sync contacts and calendar from Outlook perfectly. So is this an issue with Vista?
    Any help will be appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
You cannot...with OWA, you get email only...nothing more.

  • Re: sync contacts and calendar

I have an imac using snow leopard (because several of my photo editing programs will not yet work with lion) and a macbook air with lion.  Just got a new iphone that I can sync via icloud with the laptop.  Problem is my contacts and calendar are all on my imac that cannot use icloud.  Any way I can sync contacts and calendar between the imac and laptop on the same home network without using icloud -- and then sync the laptop to the iphone with icloud?

Not unless you upgrade the iMac to Lion v10.7.2 first.
