How do I sync downloaded PDF files in iBooks between my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Pro?

I've combed the forums.  I can't sync through iTunes.  These PDF files don't show up.  I've downloaded tech manuals for gear I have via manufacturer's websites.  I can't populate them across my devices.  I have some in iPhone, some on iPad.  I have an iPhone 5, iPad2, and MacBook Pro running current software as of 11:22 AM 13 MAR 2014.  Nothing has worked so far in the standard methods.
Help!

I agree in theory.
Apple is very protective of copy written material, but even I have shoe-horned copy written papers into iBooks by using copy & paste.  This is the only reason I can see for the lack of user friendliness in iBooks.   You may have noticed that removing it from iTunes also removed the ability to edit any "get info" content - something I could do when books were within iTunes.
I like the ePub format.   I can produce a very nice looking book with pictures and it looks great in iBooks.  If I produce it on my Mac and use ePub into iBooks, I can then sync to my devices that way.   For a really nice product this is a great option.
But.   I can send the same product to Kindle and keep it synced to all devices.   Or I can add to kindle from one of my other devices and get it to sync also.   Obviously I made my choice and it works.
If you find a route via iBooks, please publish.   Many other Apple users are frustrated by the lack of iBook flexibility since iOS 7 update.

  • IMessage sync iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro

For some reason iMessage no longer syncs between my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro.  How do I re-sync them?
    Thanks!

    Hey there David,
If you are still not receiving your iMessages between all your ios devices, I recommend the following section of this article:
iOS: Troubleshooting Messages - Apple Support
If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive on each iOS device and make sure that you signed in with your Apple ID. You must use the same Apple ID on each device.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By iMessage At and make sure that you selected each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage.
If you linked a phone number to your Apple ID with iMessage and the phone number hasn't appeared, follow these steps.
Sign out of your Apple ID in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and Settings > FaceTime on all devices.
If you're linking a phone number to an Apple ID, sign in to iMessage on your iPhone first. Then sign in to the rest of your device one by one with iMessage and FaceTime.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • How do i erase a corrupt contact list from iCloud,iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro and restore Address Book backup to all devices and cloud?

how do i erase a corrupt contact list from iCloud,iPhone, iPad and MacBook Pro and restore Address Book backup to all devices and cloud?
I saved a corrected, most up to date version of my master Address Book Contacts as a back-up on my Mac Book Pro.
then in an effort to "simplify my life"  i attempted to sync my I phone contacts - ( pre clean-up version) with my clean list on Mac Book Pro, New I pad and newly available icloud. DUH!! Using iTunes to do the sync caused the clean MacBOOK Pro list to be commingled with the dirty iphone contacts. amd now the whole mess is in the cloud.
I need to clear out the contaminated lists from all iplaces, and startover with Back-up on my macbook pro. BUT HOW???
    Help
    Karen

I had exported an address book backup: abbu
so since i wrote, i have found my way into the cloud: selected all entries - deleted them all from the cloud.
This wiped out contacts on my iphone and i pad, and MBP, as well as on the cloud.  I then imported the abbu back into my now empty address book.
To repopulate the crowd, i selected all in my address book and created a single card vCard for export to my desktop.  I then dragged that vcard into my empty cloud.  Now my cloud has the same clean contacts as my MBP addressbook.  The cloud then pushed the clean contacts into my empty ipad and iphone contacts.
I had to go back to Address Book>preferences>Accounts and Add an I cloud account - but if you accidentally create a second i cloud account - all of a sudden your address book will duplicate itself.  I quickly reversed it by deleting one of the icloud accounts in my Address Book>preferences>Accounts.
I created a new entry on my MBP and it is now on all devices and in cloud
I also created a new entry on my iPhone and it is now in the address book on my MBP.
    I feel empowered!!
    Have i missed anything??

    Hey 1Jerry,
Thanks for the question. You'll want to delete and re-add your iCloud account (utilizing the new Apple ID address). When prompted, opt to keep as much information on your device as possible. The following article provides information on how to do so:
    iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
    Turn off iCloud completely
Depending on whether you want to stop using iCloud on all or only some devices, do one or more of the following:
On your iOS device’s Home screen, tap Settings > iCloud, then at the bottom of the screen, tap Delete Account.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Syncing emails across iPhone, iPad and macbook pro

Can you sync emails across iphone, ipad and macbook pro, so if you delete from one it deletes on all?  If you write an email on one it shows up on all?  If you store something in a folder or flad something it shows up on all?
    Thanks

Syncing mail is a function on the type of mail account, & requires an IMAP or Exchange account. Not possible with a POP3 account.

That is because that sync ability (for contacts and calendars) has been removed. Use iCloud instead.

  • Sync iPhone, iPad and Macbook Pro contacts

    Hello.
Everytime I sync my 3 Apple devices (iPhone 4, iPad 2 and Macbook Pro), I get the same contact 3 or 4 times at my iPhone...
By other way, I want that the iPad and Macbook Pro can have the same contacts as iPhone, because I update my contacts at iPhone everyday. So, the iPad and Macbook Pro must get the iPhone contacts and not the contrary.
Can you help me on this, please?
    Regards
    Luis Antunes

Well I answered my own question.  I just deactivated all the other accounts on my iPhone except iCloud, and all the duplicates disappeared.  Before I did this, I merged duplciate cards on the MacBook Pro (from the Contacts Card menu selection).  iCloud needs to be selected as the default account on all your devices, and it seems that other accounts need to be deactivated.  Be careful - deactivating an account also erases entries associated with only that account.

  • How do I share files between my iPhone 5 and MacBook Pro?

I need to transfer files between my iPhone 5 and my MacBook Pro. The latter is running Mavericks. I have enabled AirDrop on both devices (I chose "AirDrop for Everyone" on my iPhone), but when I click the AirDrop file in Finder on my Mac, my iPhone doesn't appear.
    Thoughts?

Sorry; I've got Yosemite installed on my MacBook Pro, not Mavericks anymore.

  • IMessage not syncing across iphone, ipad and macbook pro

I was recieving messages to my ipad at my mobile number. But they were not being recieved on my phone or my macbook. I then signed out and back into imessage on my phone as I saw that the number did not have a tick next to it. That has got me recieving numbers again on my phone but now I am not recieving messages to my ipad on macbook. I logged out on my macbook and the imessage crashed - when I relaunched and logged back in the names against the messages had all disappeared as it had reset the message threads to "bonjour", even though this was disabled in settings. Is there a way to set them all back to my apple account? I am also still not recieving incoming messages to my phone number on the computer. Or messages in my iPad. Please can someone help?
    Thanks

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Messages if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following item from the Library folder (it may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Messages
Leave the Library folder open. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
    Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
    Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with "com.apple.iChat". Move them all to the Desktop.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

  • I have an ipod, ipad and macbook pro.  When I add anything to my calendar it always comes up twice, and always reminds me twice on all of my appliances.  Its probably really simple but how do I rectify this?

Hi there.  Can anyone help?  I have an iphone, ipad and macbook pro.  Whenever I add anything to my calender it always puts itself in twice and always reminds me of everything twice on each of my appliances.  I'm sure it just a matter of ticking or unticking boxes but I can't seem to get the right ones.

    - You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library/computer. You can however, manually manage music and videos among different libraries.
Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
    - If y wnat to switch syncing libraries/computer see:
go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
If all the synced media like music is in the iTunes library of the second computer it is very easy.

  • How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

How do I sync a PDF file between iPhone and iPad in iBooks?

If the PDF supports it then you can try opening the PDF in iBooks on your phone and use the 'share' icon (the square with the upward pointing arrow) to email it to yourself (some PDFs a protected and don't support emailing) and use 'open in' in the Mail app on your iPad to copy it to its Mail app.
Or you can connect the phone to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy it over to your iTunes (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just ibooks) and if using a Mac with Mavericks or Yosemite on it then do File > Move Books From iTunes in its  iBooks app, and you can then sync it to your iPad.
