How do I sync existing songs on ipod to new computer
I have an iPod Nano, bought a new computer because my other one crashed. I downloaded iTunes, signed into my account, when I synced my iPod only the stuff I purchased showed on my account, but all my existing songs are still on my iPod. How do I get them to copy onto my iTunes account?

HT1296 how do i sync all music with ipod on new computer
How do i sync all music with ipod on new computer
Connect the iPod and sync with iTunes the same way that you sync any iDevice with iTunes. If you are trying to transfer the music on the iPod into iTunes on the computer - connect the iPod to your computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPod name under the devices headings and select transfer purchases. That will transfer the purchase songs on your iPod into your iTunes library.
If you provide a few more details of what you actually are trying to do, it would be a little easier to provide you with the help that you seek. -
"sync"ing songs from IPOD to new computer
My old computer crashed and I had to get a new one recently. I have downloaded the latest ITUNES Software (7 I believe). How can I get the music on my IPOD to transfer into my ITUNES Library on my new computer? I am worried that the new ITUNES is going to erase all the songs on my IPOD. Thanks so much for the help.

Dell Inspiron Windows XPNo. Fortunately I was able to transfer songs, however, none of the playlists were copied. The whole process of transferring songs from the iPod to a new computer is ridiculously scary; I've had to re-install songs from backups in the past - and it takes days. It's too cumbersome for an ordinary non-techie. The protected/purchased songs transferred easily from the iPod to the new computer. However, the 1,000s of other songs had to be copied as suggested using the iPod first as a removable drive to copy the library folders to the new computer, and then adding those files/songs through iTunes. That created "duplicates" of the purchased songs; I deleted the duplicates based on the Added Date in iTunes. The copied library folders were deleted after I verified the #songs in the new iTunes libary. I had to redo my playlists (viewing the old computer) and re-add a few podcasts. Adding the iTunes library was the most difficult task in setting up this new computer.

How do i transfer existing iphoto albums to a new computer
how do i transfer existing iphoto albums to a new computer?
thanksAre you asking about transfering iPhoto Libraries from one Mac to another Mac? Or about transferring iPhoto albums from an IOS device to a computer? And what is your iPhoto version?
If you are talking about your Mac, simply transfer the iPhoto Library to the new computer. You can copy it using the network, by copying to a portable disk, or by connecting your old mac to the new mac in target disk mode. After copying the iPhoto Library to your Home folder on the new mac, double click it to open it in iPhoto and to point iPhoto to it.
If you are asking about transfering albums from an IOS device; the albums you create on your IOS device are not synced back to your computer. You share the photos by adding them to the Photo Stream, creating shared Photo streams, sending them by email, or publishing web journals.

My laptop was stolen. How do I sync my old iphone to a new computer without losing my purchases (music & apps)?
One of the reasons to include your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data that is kept separate from your laptop - not carried in the same case, etc.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iDevice, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If you are in the US, you can do this now as well.

How do i sync music FROM my ipod to the computer
I just upgraded to itunes 11, and all the music that was in the itunes library dissapeared from the itunes library, and Im freaking out!!!! However, the music that was there, is still on my ipod, so I was thinking that i can just sync it from my ipod to the computer.
there was a time where i didnt have REAL music on my ipod. I would go on youtube and record it under voice memos. How stupid was that?! anyway, my music from another itunes library is there, and like i said, its not even music, theyre voice memos! how do i get rid of those and put the music thats on my ipod back in the library? A pro, please help!Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Copy songs from iPod to new computer
How can I copy my songs from my iPod to the iTunes library on my new computer?
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists. -
