How do I Sync iPod/T to iTunes when iPhone is 'Master'?

The Situation...
I have a new iPhone 4S synced to iTunes on my Mac.
I have an old iPod Touch which was synced to a PC on its own iTunes some years ago but I have not synced it for years to anything.
The iPhone is synced under one identity, the old iPod is synced on an older one of my identities.
What I want...
To sync the iPod Touch with my Mac using the same identity as for my iPhone.
To get the same iTunes library currently syncing to iPhone to appear on the iPod Touch, i.e it is a perfect mirror or copy on both devices.
If I purchase a downlaod to play on iPhone - that it then will play on iPod Touch after I synced it (the Touch)
Do be able to do this without a convaluted complex preocess which takes hours of my time, and without any special additional software
Your Help?
Is this even possible?
How can I do it quickly so t works without messing up my iPhone?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

What is the risk if I follow your sugestion, of me losing data on my iPhone or iTunes?
None.  I used to do it with my 3G iPod Touch and iPhone 4
I understand that my Touch is pre 'iOS' and is back on whatever old 'version 2' is or something like that.
Will the Touch be able to take all this data from iTunes given its old operating system?
It will only sync what content it understands and can work with.  The rest will be left alone.
Cold I not just instead create a special 'playlist' on my iTunes dedicated to this Touch (for another reason too - my Touch is only 8Gb and my iPhone is 32Gb!). What I am scared about is what happens when I pulg in my Touch to iTunes for the first time.
That's definitely one way of doing it. Perhaps this article will be of assistance.
How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer
So what will I see on my MAc iTunes if I just plugged in that old Touch?
Your iPod Touch will appear in iTunes.  iTunes will notify you that it must be erased before it can sync with the new iTunes library. So go ahead and let it Erase and Sync.  Even if you do set up the iPod to sync different from the iPhone it will have NO affect on your syncing preferences and such for the iPhone.
I think I set that Touch up on iTunes on an old PC years ago under a dfferent Apple identity you see - so what shold I see and what should I do when I (if I) pluf that Touch in to my Mac iTunes?
See above post.  It doesn't matter it was used on a different Apple ID previously.
In short, just go ahead and plug it in to your new iTunes library on the Mac.  Take your time and read any prompts that appear.

Have you updated iTunes on the computer?    If you updated your iPod! but not iTunes, you will have communication errors.
Have you backed up and updated your iPod?   You should back up regularly.   Update to keep your device working well with current iTunes.
Once you have iTunes working well on the computer and have a backup saved (find your back up time and date on your iPod in settings, or on the computer under the iTunes pull-down menu, under "Preferences", choose the Devices tab and look in the box for your backup.
    Next option...
    Restore your iPod from backup

How can I sync apps from my iTunes on Macbook Air without syncing apps from the iPad 2 to my Macbook Air? (As my Macbook Air is only 64GB and my iPad is 64GB and that my Macbook Air only has 40 GB left...) Or is there no other way but to sync apps from iTunes to iPad without syncing apps from iPad to iTunes(it says Backing Up , then it says Converting files to iTunes, then it shows the name of the app on the bottom...)

Yes, sign in with the same Apple ID as your stolen one in the new iPod Touch.

Does the iPod show up in iTunes on the Mac? If not try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    also
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Otherwise what happens when you try to sync? Note that you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. If that is the problem you should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase and content and setting and set up the iPod on you computer/iTunes library. One content on the iPod does not belong to you.

how do i sync ipod files to my pc?

The ipod is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
If the songs were gifted via itunes, then they should be considered purchases

  • How can I sync  with this uncompatible iTunes 11.x

How can I sync an iPad Air (iOS7) and iPhone 3G with a MacBook?
To help answering this awful question:
    - iTunes 11.x does not allow iPhone 3G iOS 6.x to sync.
(iPhone 3G even 3GS is not subject to iOS7)
    - iPad (iOS7) does not sync iTunes 10.x
    All-in-all, iTunes 11.x is a garbage!

    - Transffer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here.
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the IPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does no include symec media like apps and music.

  • I have some music from CDs and recent purchases from iTunes on my iPhone 4 that are not synced with my iTunes account on my computer.  How can I sync my phone and iTunes on my computer without losing what is on my iPhone?  (original computer was stolen)

I have some music from CDs and recent purchases from iTunes on my iPhone 4 that I would like to sync with my iTunes account on my computer.  The CDs were on my original laptap also, but it was stolen and I set up the iTunes on my new computer.
When I try to sync I get a message indicating that the iPhone iTunes will be replaced with the computer iTunes.
How can I sync and retain both iTunes?

Music is designed to sync in one way only, and that is from iTunes to the phone. There is the expectation that you would backup the computer to save this data. There are 3rd party solutions to try and recover music from the phone to put back into a blank iTunes library.

OR if I cannot update to software 3.0, how can I find apps that will work just for my ipod touch?

It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, in which case you can only upgrade to iOS version 3.1.  Here is a link to purchase the update.

    Not sure what you mean?
    More than one song?
You can sync with one and only one computer/itunes library at a time.  If you sync to another it will erase the current content.
