How do I sync more than one Ipod on Itumes (MS Version)

Hi everyone.
I have two different Ipods that I want to sync to the same computer, but with different music. I use one Ipod in the car and another at night to listen to relaxing music. Is there anyway to sync more than one Ipod on the same computer so that both have different files on them?
Thanks for any suggestions!

I used to have two computer, aech one with a diferent IPods. Both are now broken. I get two new computers, MacBook and IMac.
*Question: Can I sync my two IPods in both computers without loosing my songs and how?* Remember, I lost all my info in the old computer, everything that I have is in those IPods.

Just plug in the second iPhone like you did the first and tell it what to sync to and you'll be good to go (just make sure the second iPhone is named something different than the first!)

    Not sure what you mean?

You can sync with one and only one computer/itunes library at a time.  If you sync to another it will erase the current content.

  • How Can I Update More Than One Ipod on the Same Computer?

I've had my 30G Ipod since April 2006. For Christmas 2006, I bought my sister a 2G Ipod. I cannot figure out how to put songs on her Ipod as we both share the same computer and Itunes Library. I've already asked Ipod Corporate for help via their FAQ section regarding more than one Ipod operating with the same computer, but their advice (which told me to create a playlist small enough for her Ipod and checked as a shared playlist) did not work for me. I'd really appreciate any help with my problem. Owning an Ipod but being unable to listen to it, as I'm sure many people would agree, is quite annoying.

There are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library and user account.
    b) Creating multiple user accounts and having separate libraries.
    Sharing a Library
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
However since you seem to have a problem with that method you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists

  • Syncing more than one ipod

my son put music on daughter ipod from his computer if i conect it to my itunes on my computer will she lose everything.can i add her content to my itunes and have her's and my content together

The title of your post and the content of your post appear to contradict each other. One seems to be about using multiple iPods and the other about using one iPod with multiple computers.
However, going with the content rather than the title. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library. Just note, if you have an iPod shuffle it can only be used with one library/computer:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
If the iPod is currently set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Once the iPod is safely connected you can change it to manual management.

  • Syncing more than one iPod on a single Mac

Hi all - I currently have an iMac and iPhone 3G. I sync the 3G to iTunes under my account. I am about to buy my an iPod and am wondering how the whole process of having one computer and 2 iPods will work.
Is it possible to sync 2 iPods on the same computer? Can they "share" songs?
Thanks in advance for the info.

    So it's possible to:
    1. purchase a song from iTunes so that it sits in my iTunes library
    2. sync 2 different iPods to it so that the same song is in 3 places? iTunes as well as both iPods?

  • How do I create more than one ipod account on one computer

I have an eighty gig ipod and just recently bought a Clip and want to sync both to my music is it possible. If not how do I create two accounts on the same computer?

If you are adding a second iPod for your own use you don't need two accounts. Just connect your new iPod (by Clip I presume you mean an iPod shuffle) to your computer and follow the on screen instructions to register and name it and you can choose whatever setting you like to sync it. iTunes will recognise each device that you add and they will have their own settings.

  • Connecting more than one ipod to one mac computer

Can anyone please advise me on how I can connect more than one ipod to just the one mac computer. I need to set up 3 ipods to work on the one mac computer but each with there own itunes library. thanks

When the iPods belong to two users, there are a couple of recommended methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have individual Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. Each iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists.
Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look at this article and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Another option when using a single library is to set one or both of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod
Choosing the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" (called Sync Music - Selected playlists in iTunes 7) allows you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod ( for example, around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB Mini or Nano).
