When I sync my iPhone, after I do a backup, then sync, I end up getting my kids phone numbers, wife's numbers, etc.

Using the information below you can transfer content to your new computer. Thiis will at least update the content to have what is on your phone but you will still be syncing with a new iTunes library. It will replace your content but hopefully you can make the replaced content match your existing content.
Make a backup of your computer always. This is the digital age and it is all too easy to lose music and photos in an instant.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

my phone randomly "deleted" all of my music. It all shows up in itunes when I plug it into a computer. The only problem is MY compuer is currently out of commision and wont be fixed for at least a month. What Im trying to do is plug it into my friends computer and get music from her iTunes but when i go to move over specific songs a little window pops up that says my iphone can only be synced with 1 itunes at a time and that the current content will be erased if i do this. Im just not sure if this means all of the music content or all of the content including apps, pictures, etc.
all i need to know is how can i put music onto my iphone from someone elses itunes without losing my pictures or affecting any other content on my phone?

Did they change that or is it just that way for iphone? because I know when i had an Ipod classic.. or whatever theyre called.. I could definitely get music from mulitple computers. I had music from at least 4 different itunes accounts when I had that ipod.

I am sorry if I wasn't clear in my earlier post. I already knew how to transfer purchases. I had movies that wasn't originally from iTunes on my new computer that I wanted to transfer to my iPad, but then this message popped up:
It wouldn't transfer with "Transfer purchases".
I transfered my apps, music, etc. to the new computer already. But I am afraid that I will loose my game data... I also did home sharing. The iPad is synced with my old computer's library. Is transfering purchases from the iPad to iTunes enough to ensure me that I won't loose my game data?

How do I use multiple similar email addresses without getting duplicates of incoming mail?

I have a Virtual Private Server and multiple domains and need help configuring Mail to meet my needs.
I use my first name coupled with a domain name for lots of emails. [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
The VPS server puts all the emails to john, regardless of which domain, into a "john@(multiple domains)" account. So, I can download all the john emails without a problem.
However, I want to be able to respond using the [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] return addresses when I click Reply. If I set up accounts for each, then Mail wants to go and get the messages for each single john account, which causes multiple copies to show up.
The multiple copies is one issue.
The other issue is how to set up the accounts so I can respond using the different john accounts without having to use the Reply To feature, which is cumbersome.
I hope I am clear enough in the explanation.

Alternatively most email providers allow you to set forwarding, so you could forward messages to the iCloud address, remembering to undo the forwarding when you get back. There is usually an option to leave the messages on the server as well, and I should take that.
Of course the vacation response will come from the iCloud address, which might confuse your recipients, but it's a workable alternative if the other email accounts don't provide a vacation response.

I recently got an iphone. I installed the software to sync at work. I bought a few apps. Now looking back that was a mistake to install it there. How can I carry over to sync with a newly installed itunes on my PC (Vista) laptop?
I'm sure others have to deal with this when they even get a new PC at home, or where ever.

I'm no pro, but when we recently synced my wifes' new iPhone at home, we were given an option to either let the phone override the existing computer information or vice-versa (In iTunes, select your iPhone>info tab. advanced). Would it be possible to set your iPhone to override your computer, thus loading everything onto your computer from the iPhone?

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your new computer is to network it with the old one and copy your iTunes folder across. This works fine if you have been using iTunes to completely manage your music and all your songs are in iTunes Music not in different folders. You can also use this method with an external hard drive, you drag the folder from the old computer to the external drive and then from the drive to the new computer. If the songs in your library are not all in the iTunes Music folder you can consolidate them. When you consolidate, any songs in the iTunes Library that are not in the iTunes Music Folder are copied to the Music Folder and the Library is updated to point to those new files. Files already in the iTunes Music Folder have no changes made to them: Copying all your iTunes files to one location - Windows
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. This has to be the exact same place, on a PC this is \Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\. When you open iTunes on the new computer it will be the same as on the original one Songs, Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings etc. When I moved iTunes a while ago for my daughter I was also using the same version of iTunes, not sure how important that is but it's probably worth keeping them the same.
