How do I sync multiple iPhones to different Macs and still share calendars?

In my household, we have 4 macs, 2 iPhones and 2 iPods (Touch). We also have a Family MobileMe account. What I would like to do is sync some services to ALL the macs and devices and some services to the mac and device of ONLY THAT USER. The set up would be this:
ALL (all the macs and devices would share these services)
Contacts
Calendars
USER based (1 mac syncs to one device ONLY these services)
Bookmarks
Dashboard Widgets
Dock Items
Keychains
Mail Accounts
Mail Rules
Signatures
Smart Mailboxes
Notes & Preferences
My goal is to be able to add an event to my calendar and have it appear in ALL of my family's calendars (same with contacts) via the "cloud." However, I do not want my bookmarks appearing on my son's computer or my wife's mail appearing on my iPhone, etc.
If anyone, knows how to set this up, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thank you.

Sync them to the same iTunes library and select to sync to the same Calendar on the Info tab in your iTunes sync settings.  Or, sync them to the same iCloud account and turn on Calendar syncing in Settings>iCloud.

If you are synching all music that you have in iTunes on your computer then, when you next sync, any music not in iTunes but on the iPod should be removed.

  • How can I sync multiple iPhones with 1 iTune

    Hi,
I would like to know how and limitation of syncing more than 1 iPhone with 1 iTune software in same computer.
    Thanks.

The only difference I can think of adding is that if you want to use the 1 computer with multiple iPhones but want EACH iPhone to sync different information would be best if each iPhone user syncing had their own User Profile for the computer.
Other than that, basically yeah. No real limitation to the # of iOS Devices connected to 1 computer

  • How to locally backup multiple iPhones with different IDs

Hi all, I have a simple need to backup 2 iPhones using different Apple IDs.  I understand that I can use iCloud to backup each on the cloud and no issue there.  But when I ran local backup for both on the same computer, here comes the problem...
The 2 iPhones have some overlapping apps, but separately purchased on two accounts.  It seems that iTunes only keeps one copy of those overlapping apps, namely only the copy using the ID of the first phone in the sequence of backup.  So when I try to restore on the second phone, it will simply install those overlapping apps using the copy stored locally, which does not belong to the second ID.  This seems to create a lot of confusion later on when apps are updated, since the second user will be prompted to enter the password of the first ID.
I suppose this kind of scenario is not uncommon.  Is there a way iTunes can properly deal with this?  Or did I not do the backup/restore correctly?

Thanks, Lyssa.  I guess that probably will work, but feels like an overkill for a simple task.
By the way, I am using iTunes on PC.  So the default path for media folder is C:\Users\USERNAME\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media, and the apps are stored in the Mobile Applications sub-folder under that path.  I wonder whether it will work to backup the first phone as usual first, change this path in the Advanced Preferences to another user created folder, and then backup the second phone.  During restore, I assume one can do the reverse and restore each phone while this path in preference is set accordingly.
That's just an idea I have come to, inspired by your solution of changing user account... haven't tried it out yet.  I have to say, even that sounds like an inconvenient workaround.  Is there any more elegant method I wonder...?

  • How can I sync my iPhone to my Mac so I can remove a few but no all audiobooks from my iPhone?

I have lots of audiobooks on my iphone but not all are from iTunes.  Today the genius bar guy showed me how to add my purchased audiobooks on my Mac.  The problem is it's all or nothing.  I can't pick and choose the books I want to take off my iPhone.  I can't update my operating system until I remove a few audiobooks to make room.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your phone from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Set up your iTunes account, disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the phone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • Can I sync my iPhone with a Mac and a PC?

I have many contacts in Outlook on my corp computer, but all my pictures and iTunes on my Mac. Can I sync to both and only synch for Contacts on my PC and the rest on my Mac? If not, then I have to transfer all my Outlook contacts to my Mac Address book, right? Thanks.

Yes you can by not automatically syncing the iPhone with iTunes on each computer when connected and with only sync checked items selected for iTunes preferences on each computer.
Select and deselect the items you wanted synced with iTunes on each computer.

  • Syncing my iPhone with my Mac and MobileMe, leaves 2 Sets of calendars

After I sync my iPhone with MobileMe & my Mac I have 2 identical sets of calendars on my iPhone.
They are named "me.com" and "On my iPhone".
All calendar items are shown twice on the phone.

Deleted the contacts from where?  The device? the computer? both?
Use the backup of the computer to put them back if they have been deleted off the computer.  Once that is done, they can be synced to the iPhone.

  • Music here, music there, how do I sync it all? (2) Macs and a PC?

I use a PC at work, I buy iTunes music store music there, rip CDs, and I download podcasts. I have (2) Macs (Powerbook, and Powermac) at home. I buy music on the Macs as well as rip CDs, and rip DVDs.
This is what I want to happen:
My iPod contains everything that my (2) Macs and PC contain in iTunes
My Powermac contains everything that my iPod contains.
How the heck do I manage all of this?

Yeah, I would plug it into the one computer you said and that will be your 'main' music library computer. Then you enable disk use through iPod options (when the iPod is plugged in and iTunes starts up). Now, forgive me but I don't use apples, but you need to find the apple equivalent of "windows explorer" or "my computer" this is the program that lets you see all the files on your computer and all the hard drives. You should see a hard disk that is your iPod. Make a music transfer folder on your iPod, and when you take it to work, copy all your music from the work computer to this folder that you just created. Then when you return home and plug it back into your 'main' music library computer, run that program again to see all the folders and hard drives and go to that folder you just copied all the work music into and move all those files to your music library folder on your 'main' music library computer. Now if all of these computers are apples, then there is no need to make data discs you can do this same thing on the other two computers to get all your music in one library.
Good Luck, let me know how it turns out or if you need more help.

  • How do I sync Outlook 2011 with two macs and and an iphone

    Hi there
I have an iMac which I use in my home office, and a Macbook Pro that I take with me everywhere. I am running outlook 2011 on both which has 2 POP accounts linked to it, and an Exchange account also.
I was wondering if there was a way to keep both Outlooks in Sync, so folders I create and emails that I download and have read are updated on both. I know this is a feature of using an Exchange account, but I was wondering whether this was possible with cloud technology? Also syncing both calendars with each other and my iPhone..
    Any advice would be great
    Thanks,
    Nick

Only the Exchange account will sync, POP accounts do not sync regardless of the client you use.
If the 2 POP accounts are provided by a vendor who allows Imap access you should use that instead, then they will stay in sync.
iCloud accounts keep Mail, Contacts, Calendars and other items in sync on all your devices, but are best if you have an iCloud email address (@icloud.com or @me.com)
