How do I sync music from iphone to mac?

About a year after the rest of the world, iTunes sent to my iPhone the U2 album that everyone else was force-fed and some other music too from a German radio station. I never asked for any of this, but actually quite like it, so I wanted to transfer the music to my Mac. A simple sync by plugging iPhone 6 into Mac did nothing. So I restarted the iPhone, also nothing. I highlighted the songs in iTunes on the iPhone and clicked "Add To", but apart from taking an age, that didn't work either. Anyone have any bright ideas? I looked around in the forum, but found nothing helpful. The handbook or instruction manual was no help either. All I want to do is get the stuff that iTunes forced on to my iPhone to my Mac. Sounds simple, but apparently it isn't. Grateful for helpful responses.

Go to iTunes website and purchase latest iTunes this is very necessary it is the only way you can sync your files to your laptop because iPods/iPhones don't work the same way as normal mp3 players that come out as removable disk in the computer.
AnywY get iTunes the pages one because you constantly update your iPhones iOS so yea get otunes and stick the cable that connects from tour iPhone to your Mac book the. Open iTunes then your iPod will come up as an iPod or iPhone.

  • On the sharing option it gives you, how do I sync music from iphone to mac without plugging it in?

I have them both turned on, on the mac and my iphone, but for whatever reason tehy are not transferring. I just need help on how to make this happen!

Do you have an iCloud account?  If so, from iTunes, Store Preferences, check the automatic downloads you want to sync.  If you check Music, the music you purchase form iTunes will sync via iCloud to your iPhone if you have the iPhone Settings > Store > Automatic Download of Music switched on.  The computer will download and store automatically all purchases from the iTunes store and sync to the iPhone.
If you have music that is not from the iTunes store you have to purchase iTunes Match, about $25/yr.

  • How do I sync music from iphone to itunes?

I lost all titles from itunes when I upgraded to the new itunes. Apple allowed me to download them again (thanks Apple). However, there is music on my phone from CDs uploaded prior to the loss of the titles. They exist on my phone but not in the pc. How do I sync music from the phone to the pc?  I miss the drag/drop method!

You would have to use 3rd party programs. Try youtube, they would give you tutorials and the name of the program. There was one program I used but it deleted after I got all my music out my iphone.

Our mac does not have our full library (from our old PC), our iphones do.  when I turned on the "library sharing" it deleted the songs off our PC and the library now matches our mac. However, our Iphones have all of our songs. How can we export those songs back to the mac/pc?

Hello, you can try iStonsoft all-in-one iPhone to Mac transfer.   iStonsoft iPhone to Mac Transfer can easily transfer almost all your files from iPhone to Mac for backup or sharing, with it you can transfer music from iPhone to Mac without any problems, as well as movies, photos, books, TV shows, playlists, etc. In addition, it also works well with iPad and iPod touch.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • Crashed Hard Drive, how can I sync music from Iphone to new one?

I understand that the iPhone is intended only to sync with only one computer and for that reason it won't allow me to transfer my music from my iPhone to another computer. Problem is my old hard drive died (along with all my music inside).
How can I transfer the files that are on my iPhone to the iTunes on my new hard drive? I do not have any other back ups as I assumed the iPhone would serve as a back up device itself.

I assumed the iPhone would serve as a back up device itself.
That was a pretty bad assumption. The iTunes content sync is one way: Computer to phone. Apple makes no provision to get content off your phone and into your iTunes library, as it's expected that you backup that library, and no, the iPhone is not a backup device, not designed as such and never intended to be such.
For purchased music from the iTunes store, you can File>Transfer Purchases, before syncing and after you've authorized your computer Store>Authorize this Computer. Music ripped on your own or photos synced to your phone will have to be extracted using third-party software before you do anything else:

  • I want to sync music from iPhone to Mac iTunes library

Im all confused.  my existing library on my computer is all messed up. I have a bunch of duplicate song files and some that aren't able to "be found" and I want to somehow wipe all the info and music from my Mac iTunes library and put only my music from my iPhone into a new fresh iTunes library.

    Hello Carrie,
I definitely understand wanting to clean up your iTunes library.  There are a few resources I recommend looking at.
Firstly, if you wanted to continue with your existing library, you can identify duplicates in iTunes following these steps:
Choose File > Display Duplicates to show duplicate items (matches are based on the song name and artist). If you have multiple versions of the same song (for example, live and studio versions, or versions from different albums) you can hold the Alt or Option key (for Mac OS X) or the Shift key (for Windows) and choose File > Display Exact Duplicates. This will show only duplicate songs having the same name, artist, and album.
If you are using iTunes 11 (the latest version of iTunes at this time), you will need to go to View>Show Duplicate Items (you can hold Alt or Option here as well to get the Show Exact Duplicate Items option).  You can find the full article here:
How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2905
If you think the music you are missing in iTunes is located on your computer somewhere, I recommend reviewing this article:
iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408
If neither of those help and you prefer to recreate your iTunes Library, I recommend review this next article.  This article outlines what media you are able to transfer from your iPhone to your computer:
iTunes: Transferring media from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1209
I recommend creating the new library and making sure it has everything you want in it before deleting your library that is disorganized.  This article outlines creating a new iTunes Library and how to switch between libraries:
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • HT1977 syncing music from iPhone to Mac

I have downloaded music to my iPhone - it shows up on my iPad but when I go to my Mac it doesn't register.  Am signed in on the same id.  Have checked for updates for Mac and says it's all up to date for itunes

If you purchased the music on your phone it may not show up on the computer and it will only be on your iCloud account. The only solution I can think of is maybe syncing songs onto your phone and when you plug it in it normally asks if you want to transfer/copy the song from you iPhone onto the computer. Try that and see it that works.

  • How do I sync music from both my mac and pc?

    Okay...here is my problem.
When I bought the first ipod all the music went on my pc. I then bought a second ipod and, using the same account, bought other music on my imac.
Now I can either put the music on my ipod from the pc, or the mac, but not from both. When I try and sync the two, 30 of the songs say they won't transfer.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks!

Maybe you should switch from auto sync to manually manage music. Then you can click and drag the items/playlists from either computer to the iPod when it's connected.

Import it to your iTunes library and sync it to your iPad with iTunes.  To do this with iCloud you will need to import it to your iTunes library, then subscribe to iTunes Match.

how can i sync music from my phone onto my new computer without losing it all? my old computer's hard drive crashed so it is unusable.

If you do not have a back up of the crashed hard drive you can download an app to copy from the iPhone to iTunes on the new hard drive.
I have used Pod2Mac.  There is also Pod2PC.
There are numerous choices, some free, some payed.  Do a Google search.

  • How do you transfer music from iPhone 3Gs to Windows PC.

Old windows pc crashed. Do not have back up. How do I tranfers music from iPhone 3Gs 16M to new windows PC. 99% of music was ripped CD's.

The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    Floola Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • How to clear the music from iPhone?

How to clear the music from iPhone?
Im tyring to update my music on my iPhone, although my old music is remaining on the device.
I have tried unselecting the sync music and syncing my iPhone, to remove all the songs - didnt work. I have tried unchecking each of the artists, so that none are checked and syncing - didnt work.
I dont know what else i can try so that the remaining music is completely removed from my device.

If all music is not removed from your iPhone when deselecting Sync Music under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync, something is wrong with your iPhone.
Under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, try selecting Manually manage music and videos. A warning message will be provided indicating doing so will remove all music - and videos - iTunes movies and tv shows from your iPhone.
If this works, you can switch back to syncing music.
If this doesn't work either, try restoring your iPhone with iTunes with Sync Music deselected under the Music tab before doing so.

  • How do i move music from iphone to pc - not all downloaded from itunes store?

how do i move music from iphone to pc - not all downloaded from itunes store?

iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
This is one of the reasons why maintaining a backup of all your important data (including your iTunes library) stored on an external drive used for backup purposes only, or on other media such as CD or DVD is so important.

  • I cannot sync music from iphone 4s to iCloud nor iPhone 5s either

I have a lot of music in my iPhone 4s.  iTunes only shows the buyed ones.  How can I sync music from 4s to 5s?

You don't sync from one iphone to another.
You sync both to your computer.
All of your music should be on your computer.  If it is not, then put it there.
You can then sync to any of your idevices you like.
