How do I Sync my iMac with my Mac Book Pro?
I'm always jumping between these two computers. How do I sync them so the Entourage, calendar, libraries etc. are all the same and when I make a change on one it happens on the other? Is there an application other than Mobile Me that comes with the iMac?
MobileMe is Apple’s only solution for syncing but at this time it doesn’t “come with the iMac” as it has an annual cost. There are rumours of a new ‘cloud’ based service to be available soon but no announcement yet from Apple as to cost or features so can’t comment on that except to say that there’s likely a change coming that will impact MobileMe. We’re not to speculate in the discussion groups.

ipad is asking for a passcode which I never installed. iPad is now disabled. Tried syncing to itunes with my mac book pro, won't sync. How do I fix this?
Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -

I need to do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder (http://store.sony.co...ber=HDRAX2000/H) ..this camcorder model does not have firewire out/input ..it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite A/V video output..
I wonder how can I plug this camcorder to the firewire port of my laptop? Browsing on internet I found that Grass Valley Company produces this converter http://www.amazon.co...=A17MC6HOH9AVE6 ..but I am not sure -not even after checking the amazon reviews- if this device will send the video signal through firewire to my laptop, in order to live streaming properly? ..anyone in this forum could help me please?
ThanxI can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera... is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

I can not sync my iPhone with my Mac Book Pro
Hi, I have an iPhone 4 and a MacBook Pro. I am unable to sync the phone to the mac book. when I plug it in and ask it to sync it asks if I really want to sync, and that I will be replacing everything on my phone with what is on my Mac. This is NOT what I want.
I want to put everything on my phone on to the cloud (?) and onto my MacBook. I have important medschool voice memos that I CANNOT lose.
I registered the phone to another laptop about a year ago if that is any help?
really appreciate it... pulling my hair out! That may not be what you want, but it's what's going to happen if you sync it to your Mac. You are trying to sync media to your phone from an iTunes library other than the one it is set up to sync with.
Transfer the data from the computer you have been syncing with to the new one, then set up a new sync relationship. -

How to play 5.1 audio with my Mac Book Pro Retina?
I recently received several DVD's that have 6 channel LPCM 24/192 and 24/96 sound. I have tried many alternatives but to no success. I will appreciate any suggestions... Sincerely, Joe Ray Skrha [email protected]
How are you ripping the video and audio from the DVD? You can't import stuff from a video DVD into an NLE without converting it to a workable format. If you use something that will give you ProRes files, and the audio is surround sound, FCPX will edit surround sound natively. As for playing it back in surround sound, you'd need a USB interface that connects to a surround sound system.

How do i set the iphone to auto sync with the mac book pro
how do i set the iphone to auto sync with the mac book pro?
Iphone Sync Support wrote:
Thanks but this is not what I am looking for. I am looking for the settings - setting that allows our iphone to auto sync with your mac book when you make a puchase on either device.
You aren't going to sync with my MacBook when I make a purchase.
And you are not going to autosync your iPod with the MacBook unless you tell it to sync or plug it in.
You can enable Automatic downloads when you make a purchase.
iTunes settings > Store.
When you make a purchase, it will automatically download that purchase to devices set up the same way.
This is not the same as autosyncing your device to your computer (as you first asked). -

I need OS 10.7 to sync my new iPhone 5 and new iPad 4 with my Mac Book Pro, but my MBPro has 10.5.8? What do I do? I want to fix my problem now, but it wants me to purchase the Snow Leopard software and wait for it to be delivered. Why can't I purchase it and then download? Any ideas?
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation
5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
fees may apply.
6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
terms apply.
Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
Lion System Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
or Xeon processor
2. 2GB of memory
3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
4. 7GB of available space
5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
Model Identifier 5,1 or later
3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.

From Readers Digest-February, 2005
How to Complain
You call customer service to complain about a product, and you hang up angrier than when you started. That’s customer rage, a feeling experienced by millions of people with a major complaint, says Scott Broetzmann, president an American firm that tells companies how to offer the best customer service. His secrets to getting good service:
Have a goal
If you want your product repaired, say so. Want an apology? Speak up.
Keep it short
Focus on one problem, and be succinct.
Stick with it
You have to invest the time it takes. Don’t get what you want? Ask for a supervisor.
Skip ultimatums
Don’t threaten not to do business with them again. Why should they help you if you won’t buy from them in the future?
Plead your case
Many companies have information such as how much money you’ve spent with them and how often you complain. If you’re a good customer, they may be more willing to help.
Be nice
You’re unlikely to get what you want if you’re rude.
Good luck. -
I cant get my iphone 5 to be compatible with my mac book pro. When I plug the iphone 5 in it tells me that i need a newer version of itunes 10.7 and I currently have 10.6. I checked for updates in my itunes and it says i dont have any. So i have gone to the itunes website to try and redownload itunes which i believe it 11.7. When I try and download that version it tells me the software on my computer doesn't suppor that version. I try to update my software and it says there is not software updates available right now. Is there anyway I can get my iphone 5 to synce to my itunes?
In order to get those to work you will have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8.
Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
and in the UK:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard, preferably the full 10.6.8 combo updater. -
