  • How do I sync my iPad, MacBook Pro and iPhone?

I have a 4-year-old MacBook Pro, a 2 1/2-year-old iPad 2 and an iPhone 5c? I'd like to have it sync so, for instance, I don't have to delete emails from three different devices. I'd also like to use games and documents seamlessly from one device to another.

For email you need an email provider that supports IMAP. Or use iCloud. If you have Lion or Mt. Lion on your MBP you can also sync your calendar, contacts, reminders and notes with iCloud. For games and documents that's entirely up to the app developers for each of the apps. You can sync iWork documents through iCloud, but other types you need an app that will do it.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello, Deb2015.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that messages sent and received from your iPhone are not showing up on your iPad.  I would check to make sure you have an internet connection on the iPad as this could be the cause.  If the issue persists, try the troubleshooting steps in the article below.
If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • How can I sync my Ipad contacts and calendars with my Imac? Can I go back to previous OS?

The main use of our Imac for my OH has been spoilt with the new operating system.  He is getting a message "moving calendars to serveraccount" and it is taking hours to do.  He used to sync easily by cable.

iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad   . If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.
Instead of reverting to the previous OS X, use iCloud > Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.

  • How can I sync my iPad Contacts to my new iMac?

My iPad is set to snyc contacts in iTunes and I told it to merge, but nothing happened.  I'm running Lion on the iMac.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

If the iMac is running 10.7.2 (Lion) and the iPad is running IOS 5.0 or later then simply follow the instructions for iCloud in iCloud Setup Instructions.
Peg, there is also an iCloud forum you can post to.

I think there's a big ol' discussion in the Mavericks forum about this - some folks have suggested setting up your own CalDAV server so you can continue syncing without having to route things through iCloud.
It may be simpler to go back to Mountain Lion or Lion (assuming you were on either of those). My syncing computer is on Lion and can't go higher so I didn't realize until recently that USB syncing over contacts & calendars was no longer available!

    You should be able to:
Disable automatic syncing of devices (Edit > Preferences > Devices)
Backup the device to the new installation (Right-click device > Back Up)
Transfer your purchases into your authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in the apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

How can I sync my pc contacts with my ipad and iphone?

Do you normally sync via iTunes and your computer? If so, there's an option in iTunes - that you see as you plug each device in - to sync contacts. If you don't normally sync via iTunes you can download and use the iCloud control panel and use that to sync your contacts.

How can I sync my FB contacts to my iPad contacts?

    Hello
I figured this out for my iPad so maybe this will help here for adding birthdays and events from Facebook.
    1. Using an iPad open Safari. Don't try using the Facebook app.
    2. Once in Facebook click on the link "Events".
    3. You will want to hold the iPad in landscape mode versus portrait or make sure you are zoomed out to see the whole page. Click on the icon that looks like an asterisk ( * ) next to the button "Today".
    4. Click "Export" from the pulldown menu.
    5. A pop-up will appear showing two links that read "export your friends' birthdays" and the other "upcoming events". Clicking either one will make a pop-up appear asking you if you want to subscribe.
    6. Click on subscribe. A final pop-up will appear where you can click on "View Events" or "Done". "View Events" will launch the iCalendar app.

  • How do I sync my iPad to transfer my contacts to my new MacBook Pro?

How do I sync my iPad to transfer my contacts to a newly purchased MacBook Pro?

    Hi DennaFromFL.
What a great question! Here's an excellent article that covers how to sync content from your iPad to your computer:
iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1296
I found that the section "Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks and Notes" had the information that you were looking for:
    Contacts
To sync contacts with your computer, choose "Sync Contacts with" within iTunes for Windows, or "Sync Address Book Contacts" on your Mac.
You can sync your contacts with:
Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7)
    Windows Address Book (Windows XP)
Windows Contacts (Windows Vista / Windows 7)
    Address Book (Mac OS X)
Microsoft Entourage 2004, Microsoft Entourage 2008, or Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac
Note: If using Microsoft Entourage, use Microsoft Entourage 2008 12.1.2 or later if syncing with Mac OS X v10.6 or later. If you would like to sync data on your Mac with Entourage, enable syncing between Entourage and Address Book.
    Notes:
When syncing contacts, you can choose to sync all of your contacts or only selected groups. The option to sync selected items may not show up until after the first sync.
You can select a group of contacts to which all new contacts created on your iOS device will be added.
Additional options for syncing include syncing your contacts with Yahoo or Gmail/Google Mail. You will need to configure it with the user name and password for your Yahoo or Google account.
Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities to find your answers.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • How do I sync my AOL contacts to my ipad

How do I sync my AOL contacts to my Ipad? The sales rep. @ the Apple store, asked me if I had ITunes downloaded on my computer, I do. She said to plug my USB cable from my Ipad into the computer & itshould sync the contacts automatically. That doesn't make sense to me. It's like there must be some steps missing? I do a online search & AOL told me to download a App. which I did, then do some things & that didn't work either. I've asked other Ipad users if they know how, & they all have told me that they can't figure it out either.

Did you download the Funambol app from the app store and then follow the directions here?

  • How do i sync my ipad to my new computer without losing all the apps on the ipad

how do i sync my ipad to my new computer without losing all my apps that are on the ipad

This should be a pretty good guide for setting up the iPad with a new computer and for keeping your content.
Don't forget to authorize the new computer as well. Launch iTunes and go to Store>Authorize this Computer.
    This is the original thread.

    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Make sure that you move your iTunes library from the old computer to the new one as well for all of your music.
Here is an article that can help you with that.

  • How do I sync my iPad to a previous sync?

How do I sync my iPad to the back up/sync I did previously a few days ago? I lost some contacts I would like to get back. The previous back up/sync has all of it.

    First try rebooting the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't work, power cycle the router and the printer. Unplug them both for about 30 seconds. Plug the router in again first, and then plug the printer back in and see if that works.
