How do I sync my iPhone to iChat on mac?

I downloaded iChat for my mac, but can only log into my Gmail account. How can I sync my iPhone so that I can text my contacts from my computer? Thank you!

You have to have Computer running Mountain Lion (and therefore Messages 7.x.x.) or Mavericks and Messages 8 to be able to Sync the iPhone Messages app when it send iMessages to the Mac in an iMessages account set up in Messages.
To make it a little clearer.
iChat become Messages in Mountain Lion.
As well as the AIM and Jabber option and their variants such as some Apple IDs being valid AIM Screen Names and the Google Talk and Facebook chat option as Jabber variants the app has as iMessages account added.
The iMessages account on the Mac app is then set up using the same Apple ID as used on the iPhone and iMessages can then be synced (display on All devices).

An iPhone can only be synced with one computer at a time. When you first sync the iPhone with the new Mac, you will "erase and sync". This will erase the entire phone first, then sync it with the content you moved from the old Mac.

If you used to sync the phone to iTunes on a different computer, you could copy across the iTunes library.

1) Music Brought on the iPhone will be synced across to your Computers iTunes,
2) You can sync two iPhones to a single iTunes, when you plug your mums old one in just click this is a new iphone on the new iphone wizard which will happen when you plug the device in for the first time, then click sync all your libary will be synced across to the phone.
Do 1 first if you want all the content you brought on the new iPhone to go accross on the old one (if it has enough space)

Make sure Address Book has at least one unique entry, that way when you select sync contacts under the Info pane & select sync all contacts, you'll get a merge or replace prompt regarding your contacts. Select MERGE.

I have used migration assistant to get stuff over but what about my SMS, Pictures, music, etc....because when I plug in my iphone it says that its synced with another library and i have to erase all the stuff to sync with my new one....

Disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer. Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

The Apple store will move your content from your old computer to your new one.
You can call Apple Support and they will walk you through it.

Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.
