HOW DO I SYNC MY IPOD AND ITUNES LIBARY
i really dont understand all this computor stuff, so im begging for help!!!!
i recedntly had a lot of problems with my comp and had to get it wiped, when i was back up and running i had to reinstall my itunes, for a start all my music (5 days worth!!!) were doubled, which took me hours and hours to sort (major headaches) finally got my libary how i wanted it, so i connected my ipod to sync it with my ipod and now i am getting a message saying "songs on the ipod 'my name' cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exsist" ..... what??? i dont have any playlists i just have all the songs in my libary and now none on my ipod!!!!
please help me!!!!!

Your question(s) is/are a little hard to understand. So your husband has an iPod as well as a netbook and he wants to be able to sync iPod with this netbook is that correct? If so, he'll need to first download and install iTunes assuming the netbook is running some version of Windows such as 7, Vista, or XP.

As for importing or ripping music, he'll have to either use an external CD/DVD drive that is attached via USB or rip the songs to another PC you have with a built in CD/DVD drive. Once you have imported them to the other computer, you can transfer the songs to an external hard drive or to his iTunes library via Home Sharing.

Ah I see. That folder would only be there if you had perfomed the earlier steps in that section.

I just purchased a 120gb iPod classic 6th generation from a friend. I have the latest iTunes installed and the software on the iPod is also current. My problem is whenever I'm syncing the iPod and iTunes freezes between the 250- 300th song... I have to manually reset the iPod for the iTunes to run correctly, but then my music isn't added and iTunes tells me I have to restore the iPod... I've done this numerous times only to no avail... Someone please help!!!
Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc. -

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.

The same way you sync just one. If y want different media on each iPod then only select the items you want synced to each iPod

Hey I just got an iPod and I want the ratings I set on the pod to update onto my computer. When I connect the iPod I can see the songs on the iPod have the ratings I set when I was using the iPod, but the original songs on the computer aren't updated.

JoshIt works for me; i.e. when I set ratings on the iPod, and then I sync the iPod, the ratings in the iTunes Library change to what I set on the iPod.

I have some music from CDs and recent purchases from iTunes on my iPhone 4 that I would like to sync with my iTunes account on my computer. The CDs were on my original laptap also, but it was stolen and I set up the iTunes on my new computer.

To set up a new Windows user account, if it is Windows 7, go to Start > Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > Add or Remove User Accounts > Create New Account.
The old laptop is probably on Windows XP, so the menus may look a little different.
Once they each have their own Windows user account, they can each work with their own iTunes library, and all content will be independently managed. That should avoid snarls and demerits in the coming year. -
