How do i sync my ipod to this library without erasing whats in my ipod?

I just got a new macbook, switching from a pc (windows xp). My ipod is formatted from Windows and i plugged it in. Now its only giving me the option to erase whats currently on my ipod and sync it with the current library on my mac( purchased songs from my ipod). I've already authorized my mac, but how can i transfer all the purchases on my mac onto my ipod without deleting the contents of it?

Follow the instructions in this article if you're using an iPod other than the iPod shuffle.

  • How can I sync with this library without erasing my data?

The iPod "Sayira's iPod" is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library? An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPod with the contents of this iTunes library.
So, okay, here's my story: My laptop caught a virus, so i sent it to this guy who fixes computers, now that my laptop is fixed, everything is deleted from it. I didn't really mind this too much, but anyway I redownloaded iTunes to my new hardrive and then it said the following (posted above). My question is, how can i sync with this new library without erasing any data from my apps (such as games, photos, videos, music)? I REALLY don't want to lose this data!

    - Transffer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here.
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the IPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does no include symec media like apps and music.

  • My MacBook pro broke, and I am using a new PC. How can I sync my iphone to this computer without wiping/losing all the data

As the title says, my previous macbook broke, and now I have a new computer...PC :/ and I can't sync my iphone 4s to the computer properly wihtout losing the data on the iphone. It says i have to wipe my iphone.

Only iTunes content and any photos transferred from the computer that was used for syncing the iPhone.
Transfer your iTunes library from your computer's backup which should include other important data such as documents and photos, etc.

  • How can I sync my devices to new PC without erasing files?

Ok, I've seen similar posts, so I'm guessing that this may be a stupid question, but I want to ask again according to my specific situation.
I have an iPhone 4S, an iPad 2, and an iPad Air.   I had the first two synced on my laptop (which died last year)..but I manually manage my music, movies, etc.  I bought a new desktop PC and I have no problem connecting to it, transferring purchases, syncing app updates, manually adding music and movies, etc.   Life as usual.   However, if I go to the device window and select one of the tabs like Movies and then click 'Sync Movies', then it gives me a warning saying that my device is synced with another computer and everything must be deleted to sync with this new PC and I'm give the option to 'Erase and sync'.
Well, I have no problem whatsoever by just manually managing files as it is - it ONLY seems to affect the auto sync for movies and music.  And I have hundreds of apps and songs on my devices....plus, I always lose saved data on games and such whenever I restore from backup, so I don't want to have to go through the trouble of erasing and resyncing with the new computer....  But if I ever wanted to turn on the auto sync option for movies or music, is there a way to avoid erasing everything?
Also, my new iPad Air has never been synced with my old laptop.  It's only been synced to the new one.  But it gives me the exact same message (I guess because when I first bought it and did initial setup, I chose to load the backup from iCloud using the backup from my iPad 2).  But this device itself has NEVER actually been synced with the old PC, so why should I be getting that message?
So, I'm sure my question is exactly the same as hundreds of others, so I apologize for redundancy, but any info would be appreciated.

iPhone is designed to sync with one computer only. If you sync with another, it will wipe all your iPhone content and sync with whatever is on the new computer.

I am new to this, how do I sync my ipod to download music?

You have iTunes installed on your computer ? If not then you can download it from here : http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you connect your iPod to a USB port on your computer's iTunes then it should appear on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 installed then you can enable the sidebar via control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side of iTunes you should be able to select the music that you want to sync to it.

Ah I see. That folder would only be there if you had perfomed the earlier steps in that section.

How do I sync my Ipod to a new library after my computer has crashed?

Sync transfer is one way, matching the device content to the content on the computer, except purchased content as mentioned above.  For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing):
    - Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/

In general do not regard your i-device as a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining a backup of your media on a computer backup.

  • How do i sync my ipod touch to a new pc, as i can no longer get on my old laptop?

How do i sync my ipod touch to a new pc, as i can no longer get on my old laptop.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?  not good.
You can transfer itunes purchases form an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases
You can enter a unique contact and calendar entry on the computer.  you should get the option to merge.
You can import any pics taken with the ipod, and e-mail any pics synced to the ipod to yourself.
The ipod is not a storage/backup device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of the computer to which you sync.

  • How do i sync my Ipod to my new laptop?

How do I sync my Ipod w/ my new laptop? It is apparently still registered to my now dead PC. Only some of my music shows up in the laptop library. I would like to have all my music on both the new laptop and Ipod, will not sync, even manually. How do I take care of this, with out having to pay Apple $20.00 for their time? Is it something simple or should I just pay them the $20.00? Desparately seeking an answer.....

The ipod will sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content from the ipod.
You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
    Then sync

how do i sync my ipod with i tunes on a new computer when i don't have access to my old computer?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

You may want to reset warnings on the device by right->clicking on it under Devices and choosing Reset Warnings.  Then resync the iPod to see if any alerts appear.

  • Help! How can i sync my ipod with a new computer?

how do i sync my ipod touch with a new computer?  the old computer it was synced with is completely broken.  I don't want to loose any songs, especially the ones I didn't buy on itunes.

For music obtained from other than the iTunes Music Store, you need to browse the app store and purchase an app intended for that very purpose.  I'm unable to recommend one because I've never had reason to use such an app.  DO THIS FIRST!
For songs purchased from iTunes, simply do a sync to the new computer.  A box will appear asking if you wish to transfer purchases.  If, for whatever reason, that fails, this is "Plan B."
