How do i sync my new ipad mini with mac 10.5.8?

i just received my ipad mini. i am unable to sync the message i must download osx 10.7 i have 10.5.8.
my imac is about 4 1/2 years old.
What should I do. The sales lit says nothing about compatability.

If you synced it many times, you have to have a backup. It's just a question of how old that backup is now. When did you last sync?
First of all launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Do you see any backups for you iPad in that window? If so, how new is the newest backup? That will be the backup that you will want to use. But remember that if you use that backup and it is one month old, you can only restore from that date back in time. Anything that you did on the iPad in the past month will not be in that backup.
Turn on the new iPad Minin and start activating OTA via WiFi. You will get to a certain point in the process where you will be given the choice to Set up as new, Restore from iCloud - or Restore from iTunes. You will want to select Restore from iTunes.
That is the short and sweet version. There are step by step instructions in this article. This applies to the mini as well as the iPad 4 or the iPad 3 for that matter.

You cannot. Copy everything you want form the old computer to the new one, then sync it.
it basically says you have to erase your iphone to sync to a new itunes!
Correct Iphone will sync, or manually manage, with one and only one computer/library at a time. Syncing, or manually managing, to another will indeed erase the current content.

Everytime I try to send a message to a person that does not have an Apple product ( Iphone or Ipad ) it comes up saying contact is not registered for iMessage and wont send it. Well I don't think is the app problem, since yesterday I already called my country apple customer centre, they told me to reset all setting for my device, the problem is then solve, my anomaly 2 not even lag anymore, and they call me observe 24 hours see how the device work. At first the device work well and no lag anymore for my other game and anomaly 2 too, but after a night, this morning when I wake up, the problem is occurring again, my anomaly 2 is lag as before >_< so I make a call and they call me to restore factory setting, then after restore, the problem solve again , but still I had to observe few more days, if same thing happen again, then they will call me send back my ipad to give them double check and if the device got problem , they promised me will exchange the new one for me ~ will keep update see how after a few day~
