How do I sync my old library with a new install of iTunes on a seperate drive?
I just recently installed an SSD on my PC and I want to run iTunes off of the SSD. My library currently resides on my old HDD witch also has the most current version of iTunes on as well. How can I sync the library that resides on my old HDD to the new install of iTunes on my SSD?
can't if you do not have access to the old library (the usual workaround is to backup the old library and import it to the new itunes)
for important data...
sync your existing contacts with icloud, your text messages will not be disrupted, music will sync with whatever music you have on your new itunes, photos shoud still be in the camera roll (I would sync them to photostream before you sync, just in case). Any photos on your phone that are not in camera roll or photostream... if you lost those pictures with the computer crash I would take screen shots (lock button + home button at the same time) of each photo so they show up in the camera roll. App data may or may not be lost. In my experience, it depends on the app. Some of the apps recognize your apple ID and sync data over the internet with servers, some do not. I would take note of important data (such as passwords in a password keeper if you have such an app) just in case if you lose that data.

Hi, Im currently using a new laptop and wanted to know how can I sync the library I had in the previous one to the new one. When I connect the ipod to the new one, I get a message that says that my Ipod is connected to a different library or something like that and if I choose to sync the content of my Ipod will be deleted. The music sync is one way -computer to ipod.
You need to copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old computer, to the new one. -
How do I combine an old account with a new one on iTunes?
I have 2 email accounts set up with itunes. My first email account was hacked and I had to create a new account. How do I combine the songs listed under my old address with the songs listed under my new email address?
I'm looking for those folders and Im not sure how to look for the tracks that are on the other account if I have my current account pulled up.

If you have the track in your iTunes library, you can see where the song file is by right-clicking the library entry and choosing "Show in Finder."
Once you locate a couple of the song files, you should be able to suss out the folder structure where they are all residing. -

imac6,1 Mac OS X (10.4.8)The easiest way is with Migration Assistant which is in the /Applications/Utilities folder on your new iMac. You will need a firewire cable. Don't transfer applications because older applications can overwrite newer ones.

How can I sync my iPad 2 with my new MacBook Pro when it is already synced with my old MacBook? I am getting a message on the new MacBook Pro that says I am not allowed to sync the iPad 2 because it is synced to another iTunes library.
1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPad but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPad with it.

did you back up your music to another hard drive? if not, the only music you can get back is purchased music from i tunes.

One of the reasons to include your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data that is kept separate from your laptop - not carried in the same case, etc.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iDevice, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If you are in the US, you can do this now as well.

Officially you don't. Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

Everytime I try to sync it I get the little pop up box that asks if I want to transfer and delete what new songs I have already downloaded.....i know it has something to do with sharing music libraries but not sure how to do this....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
You don't.
If you do not have your contacts, then you cannot sync your contacts.
You should ALWAYS maintain a backup copy of your computer. -
How do I sync my iPhone 5 to my new PC? iTunes will not recognize it even when plugged in the USB port. Settings>General>iTunes wifi sync is still my old laptop. Any help is appreciated.

I read the link you send me and thanks, but the thing is that I still can't get into my Adobe Id, because when I try they ask me to reset my password in an email they will send me to my old account and there is the problem, because I don't have acces to that old acount, [email protected]
now this is my new email, because the las one it was hacked and I just can't get back to it.
So I would like to have access to my account and update this new email account, to have acces to my CC account.

I just got a new computer. Itunes tells me that it wants to erase my ipod and install a new library. How do I get the old library on my new itunes?
Launch iTunes on the new computer. From the iTunes menu bar click Store / Authorize This Computer.
Connect the iPod to your computer then select it under Devices left side of the iTunes window.
Then from the iTunes menu bar click File / Transfer Purchases From.. -
Syncing an old iphone with a new itunes
I recently purchased a new computer and I want to sync my old iphone with my new computer. Is there anyway I can take all of the data off of my phone and put it on my new itunes?
I have no way of retrieving the data off of my old computer so backing up the itunes on it would be impossible.
Also, 99.9% of my music has not been purchased through iTunes. I tried transferring my purchases from my phone to the new iphone but only a 3 songs transferred and only a couple of apps did too.And you have no backup? Ugh.
There might be a program out there (can't remember the name) that allows you to move your music back to iTunes. You'll have to google that.
As far as any photos, those will be lost. When you sync photos to the iPhone it doesn't sync the actual jpeg, but rather a VERY low resolution thumb nail. -
When updating some apps at the app store under an old apple id I get an error that id or password is wrong. How can one change an old id with a new id for these apps?
1. Launch the App Store
2. Select Store->Sign Out
3. Select Store->Sign In and replace the Apple ID with the one you want to use

Where is the site publishing options located? I have iweb 09 3.04.
