How do I sync songs without "restoring" or "setting up as a new iphone"?

I updated my itunes so that I could sync songs on to my phone. When Itunes was done updating, i tryed to sync my music, but it wouldnt let me continues unless i chose "restore" or "set up as new iphone." I have had my iphone for a while and i dont want to do either, I havent backed up my phone in a while. Is there anyway i could still sync without choosing restore or set up as new??

  • How can I move songs from my wife's iPod to her new iPhone?

My wife got a new iPhone 5 yesterday.  She had some songs on her iPod and wanted them transferred to her new phone.  When I explored this on the web, I came up with Touch Copy.  I downloaded a free trial and was able to get the songs from her iPod to my computer (but they are in a Touch Copy folder, they do not come up in the iTunes library).  Now I can't get the songs onto her new phone.  When I explored that, I came across Disk-Aid.  Before I got deeper into 3rd party software (and multiple ones at that), I wanted to get some advice.  So, here I am...I would appreciate any information you can give me.  Thanks, Kenny.

  • ITunes now saying that iPhone 4s must be restored or set up as a new iphone

Just got home.  Plugged in my 4s using the USB cable.  Instead of syncing, iTunes says "This computer has previously been synced with an iPhone or another iOS device."  Anyone else see this?  I haven't backed up in over 24 hours, so I don't want to restore OR set it up as a new iPhone. I just want to sync it.

Did you ever figure it out? I'm having the same issue

  • How do I import camera roll photos when setting up as a new iPhone

    hi
I have a new iPhone 6, which has a software issue.
The Apple Genius bar suggested I set it up as a NEW iPhone, rather than restore the backup I initially did from my 5S.
What is the best way to restore the photos I have taken on the iPhone back to the camera roll? (I am using a PC on Win7)
The Genius bar suggested saving the photos to My Pictures by dragging them off as if it were a flash drive.
He then said I should add them back once my new phone is set up though iTunes & photos.
My concern is that when I did this a few years ago, all the metadata with the photo seems to get lost and pics came back in random orders.
is this still the case & will it work properly now, or does anyone have better suggestions for doing this (such as backing them up to iCloud, then restoring)?
    Thanks

  • How do I sync songs without syncing apps?

Hi all, I wanna sync new songs from my iTunes to my iPod Touch.
However, the apps in my iPod Touch always get copied to the iTunes. How can I prevent that? I don't want any copy of the apps in my computer.
    Please advice, thank you!

    It should sync both ways.

  • Restoring Apps AND Data back to "New" iPhone

I just got an iPhone 3GS a few weeks ago and, since I'd been using an iPod Touch for a year, I simply transferred over that data to my new iPhone using "restore from backup." Somewhere along the way I was also prompted to upgrade to iPhone 3.1.2. However, the whole time I've been using my iPhone it's been freezing up a bit, responding sluggishly (sometimes taking a few seconds), or refusing to send mail even when it has perfect reception. I'm getting sick of this and it seems pointless.
I DO have a lot of apps, but I doubt that's really the problem. I am thinking I should finally bite the bullet and wipe the phone, restore and set up as a "new iPhone." But I'm very worried I won't be able to get back my Application DATA-- all that juicy stuff I have stored in my budget apps, databases, etc. Is there any way to restore my iPhone to factory settings and then reinstall these apps including all their data, but without dragging whatever might be corrupt and slowing things down?

OK, thanks for the quick reply, that's quite helpful. Just to clarify, then: Do you think it would mean anything then to do a restore of my iPhone to factory settings and then reimport from the previous backup? Would it reset anything or would it basically end up reproducing the iPhone as it was before I started the process?
If it's not going to do anything to improve the situation, I guess there's no point in doing it that way, and maybe I should try some Genius Bar help or just sacrificing some app data in order to get the iPhone up to speed first for ongoing use.

  • Someone tell me how I can sync my music to my iPhone without it saying on itunes "set up as a new iPhone" or "restore from the backup of: iPod"

You must be trying to sync it with a different computer than the one it used last. No, there is no other way to do this.
The iPhone may be synced to one and only one computer at any given time. If you choose to sync it to another, you can do that as often as you wish, but its content is erased first.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If your phone is jailbroken, we can't help you, as already stated.
If you're new to this and you're trying to download apps to put on your phone and it is NOT jailbroken, you can't do that.
You must go through the iTunes app store.

After updating my iphone through iTunes I cant open it. It ask me to restore my phone. How can I open it without restoring ?

Go into your iTunes preferences and select devices (on a Mac it's iTunes > Preferences > Devices; on PC it's Edit > Preferences > Devices). This will show you any and all iTunes backups you have, including your phone. If you don't see any backups, then you don't have one in iTunes.
With iCloud, if you've got a backup you can view it using an iOS device that's logged in with your iCloud (apple ID) account. You go into Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage and see if your phone is listed there. If it is, then you have a backup for it. You can click on it to see how large the backup is and what is backed up.
Don't be afraid to restore it. The worst that can happen is that you lose data. If you have a backup, then you can get that data back. If not, then you will have to start over, but your phone will still work.

  • Iphone 4s is in recovery mode.how can i restart it without restoring it. it was never backed up yet- i dont want to loose any info from it.

my iphone 4s is in recovery mode somehow- that what itunes says. how can i restart it without restoring it. it was never back up yet and i dont want to loose information from it.  itunes says all info will be erased once restored. help pls.

If your phone is in recovery mode, the data is already lost.  Hopefully, if you've been using your phone as intended and have been synching and backing up frequently, your data loss will be minimal.
