How do I Synch Albums in Projects to iPad?
I am a professional photographer who is trying to use his iPad to view his photos from Aperture.
Specifically, i am trying to sync "Albums" in Aperture that are contained in "projects" but when i select them and then sycnch them to my iPad the "Project" appears as an "Event" and all of the images contained in the "Albums" are added individually to the "event". This of course is "stupid" and useless.
Is this the way the iPad synch with Aperture is designed to work?
Do I have to "flatten" my entire Aperture Library so that the "albums" maintained?
Or, am i just doing everything wrong?
I don't understand why I am unable to maintain the groupins that i created in Aperture.

COULD SOMEONE HERE TELL ME HOW TO GET AN ALBUM OFF OF MY IPAD 2!!!!!! I KNOW THAT USING ALL UPPER CASE LETTERS MAKES IT LOOK LIKE I'M SCREAMING!!!! I AM SCREAMING!!!!! I'VE USED A PC SINCE 1991, AND I'M STARTING TO UNDERSTAND WHY I'VE DONE THAT. THIS IS MY FIRST APPLE PRODUCT, AND I'M DOING A LOT MORE WORK FOR IT, THAN IT IS DOING FOR ME!!!!!!!
First of all the model of the iPad has nothing to do with the software it's running (At least not yet). So it won't help you, to know that this is an iPad 2 (which it propably is, although I don't know all the model numbers by heart). Second: I'm running the same software an you (iOS 5.1.1). The darkening part is pretty normal. When I hit edit I see this:
Now when I said X (propably not the best of choices, sorry), i meant the little thing where the arrow is pointing. Now, if you don't get that "X", there sth. pretty wrong woth your software, but I don't think so. I think you just did't spot it. Now the other albums, are all dark because for some reason you can't delete them. That's because either they are the standart "SAVED PHOTOS/CAMERA ROLL" Album, which cannot be deleted, or because some third-party software has "told" the iPad, those are TABU. That's propably the software the Photos come from on your Computer. Try to manage the problem from there if you want to delete those. It's propably somwere near the section you added them to the iPad. (I know this isn't great help, but I don't know what programme you're running...sorry!) I hope this helps. (Oh, and you are using the Apple-App, for photos, right?)
And, no, I don't work foe Apple. 1.) I'm hardly qualified; 2.) I think I might be too young. 3.) I'm flattered, nonetheless. -

Can Anyone help me on how to delete imported album/pictures from my ipad?
Can Anyone help me on how to delete imported album/pictures from my ipad? I imported them from my camera to ipad. I already connected it to my itunes but i cant seem to delete the imported ones. Thanks!!
If you connect your iPad to your computer via USB, when it opens on the left hand side of the iTunes screen, click it once to open it. Then click on the Photos tab and uncheck the photos/albums you had synced to your iPad, which you no longer wish to keep there. Then click Apply on the lower right hand side and the photos will be removed.

Re-organizing all my pictures ... How do I make albums from projects?
I have about 8 different projects that I would like combined into one, but with 8 albums reflecting the pictures that are in the 8 projects ... What's the best way to do this?
Create your Albums first: select all the photos in a Project, then "New→Album" with "Include selected" checked. Repeat for all 8 Projects.
Then merge your Projects. This is easily done by drag-and-drop in Projects View.
If it's any help, even without merging Projects, you can view the combined contents of all selected Projects. Just "{Control}+click" each one, and open a Viewer Browser (as needed).

How do I get album art in my ipad
How do I get missing album art in "my music" on my ipad? I've used the "cloud" to get my music on my ipad and some of the album art is now missing on the ipad music
Hi 123luckie!
In order to get album artwork on your songs in your iPad, you will first have to get the album artwork associated with the song in iTunes. I have an article for you that can explain this process:
Mac
iTunes 11 for Mac: Add artwork to songs and other items
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12161
Windows
iTunes 11 for Windows: Add artwork to songs and other items
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12361
Personally, I think the best option is going to be found by following the last step in those articles:
Retrieve album artwork for songs in your library from the iTunes Store: Control-click the songs and choose Get Album Artwork from the pop-up menu.
You can also follow the steps in this article to get iTunes to download all of the album artwork for songs in your library that can be found in the iTunes Store:
iTunes: Album art may not download properly

How to transfer photo albums created on the iPad to Aperture or iPhoto?
Hi!
I have created a photo album on iOs 5 with selected pictures of the Photostream features, now I'd like to sync back this album to Aperture 3.2.2 or iPhoto on the Mac, so I can share them with Facebook or MobileMe.
Is there a way to do that?
ThanksThanks Fred, but the only photos that appear in Apertureare the ons of the iPad photo roll, not the Photo Albums created from the Photostream.
Hence, once pictures are in an album which was created directly on the iPad, I do not see any option to sync it back to Aperture or iPhoto. As the pictures are from Photostream, I do not see options in the photo album to save them back to the photo roll.
I created the album on the go, because, I was travelling without my computer and thought it would be great to make on the iPad the picture selections of the photos that I had put on my computer but did not have time to classify. I did the selection of photos, put them all in an album. There is no way to share back these 300 pics to Facebook or Mobileme or Flickr directly from the iPad, so I want to bring them back to my MAcbookPro to do it, but i can't find a way to transfer the album to the computer, and now, I have to do the selection again... Seems like Time wasted... -

HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RETRIEVE MY OLD LIBRARY OF PHOTOS, ALBUMS AND PROJECTS SINCE DOWNLOADING AN APERTURE 3 SOFTWARE UPDATE TWO DAYS AGO. THE NEW LIBRARY ONLY HAS A FEW NEW PHOTOS IN ONE FOLDER
PLEASE ADVISE AS HOW TO RETRIEVE OLD APERTURE LIBRARY WITH ALL MY PHOTOS, ALBUMS AND PROJECTSFind the old Aperture library in the Finder and double click it to launch Aperture with that library set to the default.
And check your caps look key. It appears to be stuck. -

I need to know how many downloads individual albums and songs had off of iTunes for a project, how do I find these numbers?
Ed...maybe a little less time gaming and a bit more time in English class? They got this thing called punctuation and sentences now. Last things first; there is no amount of money that can change your GPU so you can scratch that expense off the list. So you need a battery and a fan? Where do you live? USA? We can help you find a battery but where did you plan to have the new fan put in?

I have downloaded a trial version of Aperture because I would like to switch from using Picasa and gimp to using Aperture. I already know that I want to use Aperture, and that I cannot learn how in 30 days. I want to use the 30 days to see if I can solve a different problem: bulk export of all information except edits and versions from Aperture.
I want to avoid locking information (other than than the edits and version information that Aperture maintains) about my photos into any one piece of software.
Picasa stores a copy of almost all its information in text filies (mostly XML or .ini format) that are scattered through its picture library. These files can be scanned and found by use of Mac OS X tools that are availabe in Terminal (at the bash command line). All of the information about albums, faces, etc can be exported by a single command (after wtiting the progams that the command will initiate. I have not yest found any similar files in Aperture.
Aperture supports the export of EXIF and IPTC metadata, but only for selected photos, and does not appear to support the export of other information at all.
What I would like to do with a single operation, from either Aperture or Terminal, is to export the entire arrangement of phost ins albums and projects, lists of albums, projects and phots with all metadata (including added keywords) attached to each, and for referenced photos, the external file name. I do not care if would be in one file or many different text files, because Mac OS X provides all the tools I would need to extract the information I would want from any number of text files.
This would allow me to reconstruct all of the information about my photos (except for edits and versions) outside Aperture, and to use that info in a database outside Aperture. I would then be able to use Aperture while still being able to do everything that I could do with Picasa.
The most helpful form of an answer to this question might be a list of places to look in the Apple support and Apple developer documentation. It is difficult to teach me anything complicated, but I am fairly good at figuring out things from documentation. The following script recursively lists the content of an Aperture library. The output is simple, for demonstration puposes, but could be modified to XML. If the XML were that of a PLIST, the Apple Property List viewer oculd be used to diaplsy the output.
A simlar script produces all of the keywords and tags for all of the images in Aperture.
The scripts run much faster in the shell than in the AppleScript Editor bcause the shwll produces no debugging or monitoring information.

In Aperture 3, how can I easily move entire projects out of my main Ap Library into other libraries? My Ap library is running super slow because it's overloaded, so I have created two new libraries, but can't seem to move the projects into them?
Hello Annabel,
To move entire projects export them as Aperture Libraries, and then import those Libraries into the other Aperture Library:
Select the Project in the Inspector, then
File -> Export -> Project as Library
In the other Library do:
File -> Import -> Library/ Project
But I am not quite convinced, that the size of your current Aperture Library is responsible for the slowness of Aperture - Aperture is designed to cope with huge libraries.
You may want to post your hardware setup and details of your library, and some of the hardware experts here may help you to find the reason for the slowness.
A huge library should only be a problem, if the projects are too big, and if you have many, many smart albums at the root level of your library.
So keep the projects small, and try to move some of your smart albums to lower levels in your folder structure (then Aperture does not need to scan all of your images to build the smart album).
Other reasons for Aperture's slowness may be, e.g.
An overfull system drive and/or external drive (keep at least 20% of your drives empty)
lack of RAM
a corrupted Aperture Library, that needs repairing
Have you checked those options, before you split your library? It would be a pity to split it, for you would loose the ability to browse all parts at the same time, to use all your images in the Media Browser, etc.

Léonie
