How do I synch pages files between iOs and mac

I have an iMAC as well as an iPad and iPhone.  I recently purchased Pages for both the Mac and iOS and would like to have them all synch'd so that I could sit down in front of any device and have my work show up automatically on all devices.  This seems straight up the Apple's alley with the iWork beta site and iCloud.  But here's the problem.
Sharing my workfrom my iMac sends the information to th enew iWorks Beta.
When I save my documents in the iOs pages apps it goes to the icloud storage...
So is there a way to get the ipad to save to the iworks site or the iMac to the icloud storage?
Seems so easy so I MUST be missing something.
Thanks!

Actually After posting this (on the right side of the screen) I see that it refernces a discussion entitled" Not quite as advertised? iCloud pages".  It explained my issues in depth.  Unfortunately, there is nothing to do about it for now.  We are all waiting for an update  :-(
Thanks for the quick reply!

  • HT5826 how to sync pdf file between iOS and mac

I tried to sync pdf files stored in iBook on my iPad with the iBook on my iMac, but not all the docuemnts are viewable in iBook on iMac and viceversa.
    Which is the reason?
    Please let me know
    Thanks

I suspect that you haven't synced your iPad with your Mac. iBooks does not "push" new additions to its library automatically, like iCloud does; you must sync your iPad, either with a USB cable, or over WiFi, to have the PDFs sync. Make sure the PDFs are selected in iTunes too.

  • Possible to sync PDF/ePub files between iOS and Mac App?

I have some ePubs and PDF books I'd like to stay in sync between my Mac and my iOS devices.
If I drag/drop a book into my iBooks application, it doesn't appear anywhere on my iOS device. Same result if I were to sync a PDF/ePub to my iBooks iOS app.
Are they only suposed to stay in sync with purchases made from the store? Is there prerequisite stuff that I need to do to keep the two Apps in sync?
    Am I missing something?

    Anyone???

  • How to share files between pc and mac via external hard drive

how can i share my files(mp3,mp4,documents) from my harddisk with mac. i am a new mac user and i have a harddisk of NTFS format(as i was a pc user).I learned that mac supports FAT32 format and therefore i can't write data on my external hard drive.
but, reading a section of OSX yosemite(under compatibility) it is said that now we can easily share files between pc and mac.
So please suggest me easier way that how can i share files between macs and pc as my friends uses pc and in future i really want to share my data with them without any hustle and i dont wanna loose my data in future

You can format the HDD to a common one like ExFAT or Fat32 but a reformat will delete all data off of the HDD.
Your other option is to use a third party software such as Paragon or Tuxera that will allow you to write to a NFTS formatted HDD.

  • Sharing files between users and macs

My husband and I share an iMac. I have a MBA for traveling and my husband a PC laptop (though he rarely uses for private stuff). We both have iPhones.
We are looking for a way to:
    - Share our photos (we don't use iPhoto) and some files. We would like to have this in one shared folder, that we can access from both accounts in the iMac, the MBA and ideally (though not a must) the PC and iPhones. We would both need to have admin rights to edit documents, etc.
    - Have access to all the information in my account on the iMac from the MBA. Ideally, same thing for his and the PC.
    - Have access to all the data remotely when traveling.
    - Have all the data backed up locally (we already have a cloud backup, but we'd like to have a local backup too as it's easier and quicker to access)
We have read a lot about configuration, NAS, time capsule... but we get more and more confused, as we are obviously no tech experts.
Dropbox is not our preferred choice. We already have a cloud backup system. We'd rather have the files stored and accessed locally for everyday use.
Using a NAS to store shared folders and backup the rest sounds good, but they either seem very complicated to set up, or they have mixed reviews in terms of stability, especially to access files remotely.
Timecapsule seems easier and more straightforward, but I'm not sure it would solve the "sharing files between users and macs with admin rights"? It seems to be more focused on backing up the main drive and then providing access to the backed up files. (Though I might be completely mistaken!)
We just can't manage to have one shared folder between both accounts in the iMac. We need to grant admin rights document by document. We don't manage to make it work automatically so we both have one folder to access with full rights for all the contents inside it. And this seems to me like something that should easily be done...?
Any help, advice, proposals... would be greatly appreciated!!!

Move any file you want to the other user to access to the Shared Folder. Anything you put in that folder is available to all users.
    The shared folder is here:
Macintosh HD > Users > Shared

  • Does anyone know if there is a way to share files between Mavericks and Mac OS 9.1 operating system?

Does anyone know if there is a way to share files between Mavericks and Mac OS 9.1 operating system? When I try to connect from my iMac I get a window that says "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported." Is there a work-around to this problem or is it just not possible? It would be largly appriciated for a solutin beings my business is a small town newspaper, and we have some important files on the older computer that need to be acessed daily.

Actually to share files between OS 8-9 and OS X, all versions, is quite easy from what I read. Look here for some details.
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-20003464-263.html
    And here.
    https://www.google.com/search?q=file+sharing+Mac+OS+9.x&oq=file+sharing+Mac+OS+9 .x&aqs=chrome..69i57.20706j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
Or since both OS 9 and OS X can do SMB Windows sharing you could use that protocol to share files from one to the other.
Doesn't really matter what OS you are using. Mac OS/OS X shar files with Windows computers of all types and versions of Windows so the same applies for the different versions of Mac OS/OS X.
Each Operating System takes care of reading and writing files to there respective file formats of the hard drives so that does not have to be the same. They both just have to be able to do Ethernet with the same files sharing protocol.

  • How do I synchronize files between PC and MAC?

I have Adobe Illustrator installed at work (PC) and at home (MAC). I would like to be able to work on the same AI file from work and home.
I created a file at work and saved it to the Creative Cloud folder.
At home, I was able to synchronize the file folder content and work on the file.
The next day at work, I created another file. This time, this file did not synchronize to the CC folder at home. The CC dashboard in Assets/Files section says all files are up to date.
I disabled the CC synch on the MAC, then re-enabled it. This seems to have recreated a couple of files on the PC side. The CC folder on the MAC still does not show the new files.
    What am I missing here?

I found the solution here ->Re: Creative cloud doesnt create a cloud folder on my Users Folder?
The following solution worked for me. I guess the MAC side didn't have proper permissions

    Hi,
    Please try the following workaround:
    MAC
    1. Quit the Creative Cloud desktop application.
    2. In Terminal, copy and paste this command:
    rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/CoreSync/options.tix
    3. Launch the Creative Cloud desktop application and start syncing.
    WINDOWS
    1. Quit the Creative Cloud desktop application.
    2. Open the Start menu, and type 'cmd' in the search box, then enter to start a command prompt.
    3. Copy and paste this command at the command prompt:
    del %APPDATA%\Adobe\CoreSync\options.tix
    4. Launch the Creative Cloud desktop application and start syncing.

  • Transfer of files between g5 and mac book pro

how can i transfer files between 2 computers with a firewire cable.
i can transfer the files with my network (ethernet and wlan), but i think fire wire 800

You don't say what your other Mac is. If it's Power PC, you can't do it. What ever you use it's got to be compatible with your system.
    Assuming that's so...
Connect your FireWire cable between the two Macs. On the other Mac, go to System Preferences > Sharing > Services tab> enable Personal File Sharing.
On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Network > from the Show pop-up menu > Built-in FireWire > Configure IPv4 > DHCP and click" Apply Now".You'll bet a self-assigned IP address (If not go to "Advanced" > RenewDHCP Lease).
In the Finder from your Go menu > Network. You should see the other Mac. Click its icon > press "Connect button. Enter the user name and password for the other Mac (that Mac’s Admin name and password) > click Connect > choosethe Mac’s hard drive and click OK. The other Mac’s hard drive will mount on your Desktop.

  • Syncing photos between ios and Mac

    Hi
How to sync photos between Mac and ios .. iPhoto is confusing .. If I create an album on Mac and share it to ios
Through iTunes I won't be able to add or delete photos to it with ios which is strange .. If I use photo stream album
Created on ios I won't be able to add photos for them with my Mac so how to do such a simple task with iPhoto ?

Not sure what you're asking here. The only connection between iphoto for mac and iPhoto for iOS is a name. Other than that they have nothing in common. So, no you can't manage albums created on your Mac with iPhoto for iOS and vice versa.
iPhoto Menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback

  • Sharing files between paralells and Mac OS X

    Hi,
I read that you can drag and drop files between Paralells windows xp and Mac OS X.
don't know what I am doing wrong but this is not working for me. For one thing when inside the XP window I can't even move the mouse to my OS X desktop.
Is there a way to share folders?
    Thanks

I believe you have to install the Parallel Tools for Windows. Do this when you first launch your new Windows virtual session.
Also make sure you have the latest Parallels version. It really is as easy as dragging and dropping files from one window to the other once all is configured.

  • Sharing files between pc and mac using ipod ?

I have a PC at work and Mac at home. My work email only allows 10MB enclosures and my work files are often 100MB.
I want to take the files and not the processor home to work on. Can i do this using my colour iPod ?
What i did is format the iPod on the PC and then fill it and sync it with my Mac at home. I did this because i believed that whilst a Mac can read PC file structures the reverse is not true.
Problem is that i get an error message from iTunes each time when it tries to sync up. So the sync seems to abort rather than complete.
Anyone any ideas/experience that may be relevant ?

    btw the error is
"Attempting to copy to the disk "Guy_s iPod" failed. The file name was invalid."
    and then it says
"The iPod "Guy's iPod II" cannot be updated. The disk could not be read or written to."

  • How do I sync my calendar between iPhone and Mac on Mavericks? The postings I've seen so far are not showing me how to do this simple thing! Apple used to be easy to use - not so much any more

I am trying to sync my calendar between the mac and my iphone now that I have upgraded to Mavericks. I understand that I have to use iCloud (which I am not at all excited about) but I'll be damned if I can find out how to do it.  I've read several postings in the community but they point me to broad troubleshooting pages and I can't find anything that simply tells me how to get my calendar into icloud to begin with and then how to sync.  i was pretty happy syncing dircetly through itunes.  I am feeling very sour about Apple right now.

Actually it is pretty easy to do through iCloud,
    On your Mac(s)
    System Preferences > iCloud
Be sure the services you want to sync through iCloud are checked
click on Account Details and be sure your Apple ID is correct
    On your iPhone
    Settings > iCloud
Account -- Verify the Apple ID is the same one you set in System Preferences on your Mac(s)
turn the services you want to sync throug iClound or ON. These should match the ones you set in System Preferences on your Mac
    On your iPad
    Settings > iCloud
Account -- Verify the Apple ID is the same one you set in System Preferences on your Mac(s)
turn the services you want to sync throug iClound or ON. These should match the ones you set in System Preferences on your Mac
That is literally all there is to it. The first sync will occur when your iPhone or iPad is plugged into power and on WiFi. After that any change made on one of the synched devices will appear on all of the other synched devices the first time they have an internet connection.

  • Transferring files between iMac and Mac Air

My daughter gifted me a new but older Mac Air (mid 2011). I tried to transfer files from my existing iMac (2008) to Mac Air using migration assistant, but the connection never happens. What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you were attemting the transfer over a network.  Try creating a Time Machine backup (or updating the one you have) and use that with Migration Assistant.  It is faster and more reliable.  You need a Time Machine backup anyway so if you don’t have on this is the time to create one.  Create one (or more) for each machine.

  • Sharing Files between PC and Mac

I have a PC running Windows Vista, and a new Macbook. I have set folders on my PC to share with other computers on my network, and I have shared my printer as well on this same network. I can connect to my PC from my Mac using the "Connect to Server" button in the Finder, and I can easily take files from my PC and copy them onto my Mac.
The thing is, I have a few files that I downloaded from the internet saved onto my Mac, and I have to put them onto my Windows PC, but whenever I open a finder window into my Vista shared folder, I can see all the things that are in the folder, but when I try to put files from my Mac into the folder, it says (on the mac) that I need to provide Administrator permissions for this. I don't ever get a chance to provide this permission, and it just says "Access is denied".
What can I do to copy the files from my Mac to my PC? Is there some way of getting the Mac to ask me for a password or something on the PC? I have an administrator account on there as well, so it isn't a problem in that respect!
    Thanks
