How do I "tag" video files to import into iTunes

I have created a series of .mov files of English learning words and phrases for an ESL class I teach. Many of my students have iPods. I'd like to convert these files into the .h264 format for the iPod. That's not difficult. But how do I "tag" them so that when students import the files all the info shows up accordingly under album, artist, title, etc.
Thank you.

Here are a few
I've not tried it, but if you enter that info via iTunes, does it not update the file?

  • Video Files not importing into iTunes Library.

I have been converting my movie file into mp4 format so i can use them on my iPod video. I converted all of the files and then added their folder to the iTunes Library, but only some fo the videos show up. I have tried to add these files individually, changing their names, even moving them to antoher folder and adding them. What can I do to get these files into the library and on to my iPod?

I wish i knew. It seems to be very random in which videos it doesn't add. Is it too much to ask to watch SNL clips on my iPod?

  • Videos won't import into iTunes 7

I want to put some of my own videos onto my new iPod video, but I can't put any videos into iTunes. I've tried dragging and dropping, "import" and "add file". And nothign ever shows up. How am I suppossed to put video into itunes that I don't buy from the iTunes store? Thanks for the help.

This also happens with me. I have an Intel Core Duo 17", running iTunes 7.1 with the latest Quicktime, and OS 10.4.4. My movies work great in Quicktime, but won't import into iTunes at all. When I try to drop them on my iPod directly, it tells me that my 5th gen iPod can't display video.
I brought my iPod into work today, and hooked it up to the G5/dual 1.8 tower here, also running iTunes 7, and quicktime (7.1.3 I think?), OS 10.3.9. I was able to drop the videos directly into iTunes, and they showed up fine. I was also able to then put the video on my iPod.
As for the video, I converted them to .mp4 files with a 3rd party converter from .mpg files.
Interested to see what the solution is. Glad I'm not the only one with this problem!

  • Getting protected wma files to import into itunes

i have a couple of wma files that are protected and will not import into itunes because of the protected content. is there any way around this?

If you are able to burn those protected files to an audio CD, then that audio CD will act like any CD that you would purchase in your local store.

  • Sony WX7 .mts video files not imported into iPhoto 11

Apple indicates iLife ’11 supports AVCHD (.mts) files, however, I've been unable to get iPhoto 11 to import video files from the Sony WX7 camera. Photo's are imported properly via both usb and directly from the SD card reader in my Macbook Pro (i7) 2011, however, video files are not.  I've read that iMovie '08 supports Sony AVCHD 2011-model video cameras, but iPhoto 11 appears not to.
Mac OS X v10.6.7, is fully up to date. Has anybody found a solution?

Not sure where you are seeing that AVCHD is supported in iPhoto '11 but it is not - use iMovie to import your AVCHD movies - that works for my my Sony DSC-HX5

  • Mp3 files wont import into itunes from external hard drive

I just switched from PC to Mac and have the new aluminium mac book. For my PC I had all my music stored on my external hard drive.I have begun transferring most of it to itunes, but some of the files since hooking my external hard drive to my Mac book have turned into 'Apple Files' which appear to be document files as opposed to music files. Is there a way that i can convert them into the itunes format?

WMA is not supported directly by iTunes. In iTunes for Windows, you can convert (but not play) these files, as long as they're not copy protected, to an iTunes-supported format.
Short of running Windows on your new Mac and handling this with iTunes for Windows, or using another (your old?) PC to convert the WMA files to another format (I would suggest using Apple Lossless, as otherwise you will lose some sound quality unnecessarily--unless the WMAs are WMA Lossless...), your only other option would be to play the files with software for OS X other than iTunes. In that case, you might consider VLC, which is handy for almost countless other audio and video files anyway.

  • How to download HD QT movie trailers, import into iTunes & watch with ATV?

Is there a tutorial for dummies on how to do that?
I have been able to download (via QuickTime) a few HD trailers, save them, import them into iTunes, sync them to my Apple TV and then watch them.
However, with most of the HD trailers I downloaded via QuickTime, I could not save them with QuickTime (I do have QuickTime pro) and didn't see anyway to import them directly from QuickTime to iTunes.

I did wait until the trailers (all from Apple's QT HD trailer page) downloaded completely. I had luck saving things like the NASA space shuttle trailer and the Hanks/IMAX/moon trailer, but no luck with things like "Walk the Line," "Spider-Man 3" and "Batman Begins." I'll try again tonight.Very Strange, I had no trouble downloading Spider-man 3 just moments ago. The 720p version from the trailer site is not, however, TV compatible since its total data rate is in excess of 7117 Kbps.
this is really simple...Thanks for the tip, mrfett. Not being a regular ITMS user, I didn't realize they had modified the site to allow trailer downloads in multiple encoded formats.

  • Does anyone know how to move a .mp4 file from flixter into iTunes?

I have downloaded a digital copy of a movie that I received when I purchased a Bluray disc.  Most of the time, these go directly into iTunes, but this one went into Flixter.  It is an .mp4 file.  I tried using Add File to Library, but it didn't work.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Never mind - got it figured out!!

  • How to stop system from freezing when importing into iTunes (version 7)?

Since I have installed iTunes 7, I have been unable to import music into iTunes; my computer freezes after about 10 seconds and the only thing I can do is restart the entire computer. It is extremely frustrating and I can't seem to find anyone who can help me with this issue...I'm affraid that I'm not extremely technical-savvy when it comes to these things, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I've found quite a few people in these discussions with this problem and I had the same one myself.
The only thing I could do (the startup disc I have was an earlier version of iTunes - I downloaded iTunes 7 from the net) is uninstall iTunes and then reinstall using the earlier disc and don't upgrade it. Unfortunately this means if you have any music in iTunes 7 you won't be able to use it.

  • ALAC files not importing into iTunes

I'm using the latest 12.0.1.26 iTunes on a Dell Studio XPS (with an intel i7 processor and 2 TB SSD drive), which I use to run three Apple Airports dotted around the house and am having a problem playing ALAC files which I've converted from FLAC files bought from HighResAudio.com.
They play ok with VLC but when I try to add the folder or file into iTunes nothing seems to happen, or if I select 'play with' and pick iTunes, then iTunes starts up ok but the file doesn't appear or play at all.
I've just started re-recording my cd collection in ALAC format which all play fine when recorded directly into iTunes.
The problem is with these high resolution files (Mike Oldfield's new Man On The Rocks album) which I bought to try the supposedly 'better than cd/studio' quality sound which were only available as FLAC files. I then converted these with 'free studio audio converter' and as I said, the converted files play fine on VLC.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

    Thanks ad2345.
I tried a different converter and also changed the playback preferences -which was down at 44.1kHz- up to 96kHz as I know the hi res files are supposed to be up at this level.
Not sure if it was one or the other of your suggestions, or both, but it has worked, so many thanks for your quick and effective help!

I don't understand your problem.  Are these videos in your iTunes library or not ?  If they aren't, drag them onto your iTunes library window.

  • Duplicated files when importing into itunes

    Hi,
My hard drive seems to have copies of songs both in the My Music folder and the iTunes folder as well. I gather it means I have two copies of everything. Is this normal for iTunes to do this and is it ok to delete the copies which aren't in the iTunes folder?

Folks, you've posted your question in the iTunes for Mac forum. You will probably get a better response in the iTunes for Windows forum.

  • Questions on how to utilize still/ Video files from 3Gs using iLife 09?

    Hi,
Just got back from a trip where I took a bunch of stills and videos using the my 3Gs. I just downloaded them onto my Mac using iPhoto.
    1. How do get the video files from iPhoto into iMovie as it seems that iPhoto imported it all.
    2. How do I get the images that were taken with Location services turned "ON" to display the location they were taken?
    3. Will location mapping also work with iPhone video files?

Maybe someone in the iMovie discussion forum would know some of the specifics from iPhoto to iMovie. I thought I remember seeing a way to import straight from my iMove.

  • How do you import music videos from a dvd into iTunes?

I have got a music cd and includs a music dvd. I want the music videos to be imported into iTunes so I can watch them on my iPod touch. How do I do this?

I had a friend who got a dual-format music album on DVD of the band Chicago for his birthday. He didn't have a system that could play the remixed 5.1 surround sound version on the DVD, but he could play it back in his Mac OS X on the DVD player in good old stereo. However, he wanted a copy he could play in his car CD player.
So I used Audio Hijack to record the output of the DVD played back as stereo through the Apple DVD player in Mac OS X. I had Audio Hijacj write the output to the hard drive as AIFF 16-bit 44.1KHz stereo. Then I used iTunes to burn it to a CD.
Of course it took 45 minutes to make a recording from a 45-minute audio program; it happened in real-time.
(This was all perfectly legal because he owns the DVD and he's using the CD recording as a backup audio copy for his own personal use--basically like ripping a CD you own for use in your iPod).
I did an a/b comparison between the original DVD and the AIFF recording I had generated, and I was pleasantly surprised by its good quality.
Since then I've been an Audio Hijack fan.

  • How do i see video clips already imported in to an event?

How do i see video clips already imported in to an event?
I have already created and shared one movie project from the clips and from photos but now want to make another. However, when i go to the library it only shows me the content of the first project, including the photos, not all of the video clips i originally imported. I can't believe that I need to import them all again.

It seems to me that you must have imported your clips using iMovie 9, (that's why they are all in the Events folder which belongs to iMovie 9).  Then you must have upgraded your current project to iMovie 10 which will have put the clips used in that project (but not all the others) into your iMovie 10 library.  iMovie 10 has a totally different storage arrangement for media.  You should be able to update your other iMovie 9 projects by choosing File > Update Projects  and Events in iMovie 10.  See: http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0.8/#/mov902ad0c31
This does not stop you from continuing to use the projects in iMovie 9 though any further editing you do will not be transferred to the other version of iMovie.
    Geoff.
