How do I take an image in Illustrator and change the size ?

I have a image I need to down size for my website how do I make it smaller ?

Gordon,
You may (you can do that to a raster image or to vector artwork):
1) Fit the image to the Artboard or fit the Artboard to the image, or set Crop Area/Marks in earlier versions;
2) Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S/Cmd+Option+Shift+S or File>Save for Web, setting the desired smaller pixel x pixel size in the Image Size window, then click Save.
You may tick Art Optimized (or Type Optimized for live Type optimization) in the Image Size window, and you may tick Transparency in the main Save for Web window, if relevant. PNG24 is the best format for vector artwork, and may also be used for raster images.

Use the rectangular marquee tool to select half the image, then Layer>New Layer via cut. You can turn on the rulers and set a guide so you'll know the boundaries you want if you need it to be exactly half.
If you want to also be able to move the other half, before you start double click the background layer in the layers panel to turn it to a regular layer.

How can I type a word on an Image in Ps and change the background of the text box

Photoshop doesnt have an ability to fill a text box so you will have to create a layer underneath the text layer. A shape layer work work well. That can be filled and stroked quite easily with editability.

You would need software form a third party to have this option.  The free software that comes with the 8600 doesn't have an option for that. Vuescan is the only software I could find that says it works with your pritner and has a descreen option.  You have to purchase it, but it will give you more advanced options than the software that came with the printer.

  • Can you layer a Microsoft shape onto an image in Photoshop and change the color???

I'm using OS X Yosemite 10-10-1, Photoshop CC, 2014.2.1. I uploaded a shape from Word Office 2011 and layered it over my image. The symbol is blue and I want to change the color in Photoshop. I've tried but can't seem to figure out how it's done. The shape is blue.
    Thank you.

Put the Word symbol on a new Word document.
    Save as  .pdf
Bring into Photoshop and save as .psd. The area around the symbol will be clear.
Drag symbol layer over an image
Lock the clear area usng the symbol indicated by the red arrow shown above
    Choose your replacement color
Edit > Fill with the Blending Mode set to Color
    Job done.

  • Need Help Pasting Key Frames from one still image to others, and Changing the duration of multiple still images.

I'm working on a stop motion project, and I have at least a thousand still images to work with.
I have adjusted several Key Frame settings on the 1st still image in my project, such as
    Brightness
    Cropping
    Scale
    Position
I now want to apply these exact settings to hundreds of still images at a time that make up one scene in the project (but not all still images in the entire project).. Is there a way to paste or easily transfer them?
Also, there are scenes I'm working on in which I want to change the image duration of hundreds of photos at once, but not change to duration of all images in the project, is this possible?
I've looked at several different web-links, but none of them have what I'm looking for. If you can please help me, I'd be willing to send you $10 through paypal. Knowledge is power; the solution to these problems would save me hours of time. If you don't fully understand my questions I can send you a pictures or a video, pointing out my needs.

    Stan,
    Thanks again for your input.
When the project is created, I don't recall seeing the preference settings until after the project opens the first time.  In that case if certain media was imported into the project panel but not in the sequence, after the duration was changed, it would be necessary to remove the media from the project panel then re-import again.  If there is a workaround to this please let me know.  It also doesn't appear that creating a new sequence would prevent the re-importing.  Could you confirm?
Thanks for the link on automating to sequence--I remember that from CS4.
The application of identical effects to media on the timeline in a sequence was something I had learned back in CS3 or maybe earlier CS4 where the effected, in this case a transition between images was applied then copied then using the paste or (Control V) command, applied to all other stills.  That worked fine but with lots of images, it ends up being a lot of "point and clicks" since the CTI must be moved to each transition insertion point before the paste is applied.
I actually thought that I had seen someone select the remainder of the images in the sequence then apply the paste command but I was never able to make that work.  Have you heard of such a short-cut?
    Much thanks again!!

  • How do I resize an image in Illustrator to a specific size?

    Hi All,
I created a map graphic in Illustrator that needs to be resized to print on a 4'x6' board. I don't think it needs to be actual size for the printer to print, but I do need to make sure it's proportional (4"x6"). Any idea how to do this? My image is below.
    Thanks,
    Stephanie

Assuming your artwork is all vector artwork, all you need to do is setup your artboard proportionately to the final size ( i.e., 48" x 72" ÷ 4 = 12 x 18 ).  So, setup your artboard to 12" x 18" and scale your artwork 300% ( i.e., 4" x 6" x 300% = 12" x 18" ) to fit that size.  Then, tell the print vendor to scale the file 400% in the RIP.  Or, setup your artboard 48" x 72"; scale the artwork ( using the scale tool ) 1200%.  If your artwork is bitmap art, you're out of luck.

  • Issue with Image upload in DAM (changes the size)

    Hi,
We are seeing issues with some of the .jpeg files dimensions getting chnaged when uploaded into CQ5.4. For e.g. I have an W-Training-Shoes-hotspot-1b-140x140.2.jpeg of140x140 dimension. When I upload it in CQ it saves with width=1600 & height=140. Did anybody saw this issue before?
If I copy the original file & resave it with 140x140 size & reload in CQ, it will load fine with width=140 & height=140.

It looks like the assets has wrong metadata. As a workaround add a process step right after "Metadata extraction" to the update asset workflow and have a script updates with correct dimensions.

  • How can I export an image from Illustrator same canvas size and custom resolution?

Hey all.  i am using Adobe Illustrator CS5 for creating images for iPhone app icons the size of image 374 px 374 px and 264 ppi. i created an image same size and ppi .the problem after export the image file size changing to  1371px x 1371px and 264 ppi pixel dimension. How can I export same canvas size and same resolution file from illustrator

    10111980,
If you just forget about PPI and use Save for Web, you will get the 374 x 374 pixel size.
The 1371 x 1371 pixels is because you somehow increase the resolution by 264/72.
You should never mix pixel by pixel sizes and PPI.
The 374 x 374 pixels is the actual image size. At 264 PPI that will be about 1.417 inches. At 72 PPI that will be about 5.194 inches.

  • How do I erase all images from a card in the Cannon Rebel t3

how do I erase all images from a card in the Cannon Rebel t3

    Hello debrusso,
I would just like to give some quick advice that you all may already know but I was just told this countless of times that I thought you all would like to know. \
I have been told by numerous of photography professors that it is always best to try to format your camera every now and then. Because your memory card is not really deleting the photos but rather hiding it somewhere. This is a problem because it still takes space from your card. The solution to this is to FORMAT because it is one of the safest ways for your camera to erase images. It also sets up properly for your camera like new. But make sure to save your images before doing formatting. I have had many silly accidents this way. Lol.

When I had a PC I simply took the wire going to my monitor and connected to my big screen TV to watch Netflix movies...How do I take them from my IMAC and connect them to my TV now?

    This could be problematic.
It will depend on what model of iMac you have.
You may want to post machine info.
blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the work hardware.
    Leave out the serial number.
    Example:
    Machine Name: iMac
    Machine Model: PowerMac4,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC 750 (33.11)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 600 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 768 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.1.9f1
Most of the iMac's have sometype of video output port on the back.  You will problably need a converter.
The 'hollywood' industry has been making it more difficult to get video out over time to prevent copying.

I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

    Coastal,
Frank gave you the exact answer to your question.
However, I would like to ask if you are indeed asking the right question.  Do you really want different libraries?  The implications are that you have to "switch" libraries to see what's in the others, and so that your searches don't work across all of your pictures?  If so, then you asked the right question.  If not, you may be more interested in relocating your masters to multiple hard drives so your library gets smaller, instead of breaking up the library.

How do you take pictures from one library and put in another library??

    Options:
    1. Export from iPhoto A to the Finder, then import to iPhoto B
This gets the photo over, but no versions, no edit history and not all the metadata
    2. Use iPhoto Library Manager
This gets everything: versions, edit history and all the metadata.

If you want to see what is in a file that is backed up by time machine then you have to restore the entire file. Having said that I have had good experience with Time Machine and individual files... if the file is there then all of it's components are almost for sure there. A way to get around this in Aperture would be to use referenced images. The images then still exist as individual files and can be backed up and restored individually. You would have to do so on a file by file basis though and your album information would still only be saved within the Aperture library.
