How do I take off Mountain Lion?

I wish to take Mt Lion off my Mac Book Pro I have purchased a new Hard drive(1Tb) and need to set it up with Snow Lepard. Can this be done ?

If you are Replacing the original drive with a 1TB drive then switch out the drives and use your Snow Leopard Retail Upgrade disk to install Snow Leopard on that new drive.
But you will still need mto reinstall all the iLife Apps from the Original system Applications disc that came with your system originally and then reinstall all your programs.
As to your Files you can connect the old drive to the system with a SATA to USB adapter and Copy them off the old drive to the new one you installed in the system.
You Can NOT use a Time Machine backup made with Mt Lion to Restore the system with Snow Leopard installed. You can't use a Newer TM backup to restore to an Older version of OS X. Everything must be done, copied and reinstalled, manually on the older version of OS X.

You can reinstall your system from a backup (Time Machine or "clone") or erase it completely and reinstall Mountain Lion.

If your Mac shipped with Mountain Lion already installed, you can reinstall it. Otherwise, you can only reinstall Mountain Lion if you purchased it from the App Store.
You may be better off describing the problems you're experiencing, so that they can be fixed. The vast majority of Mavericks complaints are due to outdated or poorly written software or similarly incompatible system modifications, and some simple troubleshooting may reveal the cause.

Fantastic!  Didn't work at first so restarted App store and tried again.  This time it asked 'ignore update'.  All gone!

Go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive on all but one device and add a unique email address on each device and delete the commone Apple ID email device
If there is also an iPhone with iOS 6 associated with the Apple ID, uncheck the phone number on all but the phone.

I have a pre-2008 Mac PRO how do I upgrade to Mountain Lion? On the Apple's site on upgrading (http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/), I see that "Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)" is required for the upgrade. What's up with that?
Will upgrading of the GPU do the trick?

That has never been a feature of Mac OS X, but I believe there was some kind of third-party software that could add that capability.  i don't recall what its name is, but you must have had that installed, and it either isn't installed anymore (perhaps removed as incompatible?) or is not working properly in Mountain Lion.

  • How do I re-install Mountain Lion on a new hard drive (replacement)?

I have an older iMac 24" (2007) that has been up-graded to Mountain lion.  I want to replace my hard drive with a bigger one (has 500Gb).  How can I re-install Mountain Lion on my new drive?  I have Time Machine on this machine.

Install 10.6 and 10.8 onto the new drive exactly how you did it on the old drive, except that you won't need to pay to redownload 10.8. Alternatively, if you kept a copy of the 10.8 installer, you can just rerun it.

Can anyone tell me how to add birthday on Mountain Lion? in contacts there is no such field.

With Contacts open, go to Preferences - Template, and open the Add Field dropdown menu.  Select Birthday.
If you also want to add Anniversary information, select Dates in the drop-down menu. It appears that a new date field is defined automatically as Anniversary - but if it isn't on your machine, it's easy enough to change.

I can only guess that the install process was interrupted, maybe after the files were extracted but before the install, maybe on the reboot?
If it was dome ot would say version 10.8.  And you would have the reminder and notes apps as well, also an easy thing to check.

How to keep finder in mountain lion from opening at startup.?

    Now you got me thinking....
One can set things up so Finder can be quit like any other application.  In Terminal:
    defaults write com.apple.finder QuitMenuItem 1
    Then relaunch the Finder.
I guess it might be possible to make a an Applescript or Automator application which runs at start up and quits the Finder.

  • How do you take off text field

How do you take off text field

Hi again, sounds like you accidently hey CMD+F5 & turned on Voice Over, try CMD+F5 again, or see this...
I think the issue is caused by the Apple Voiceover Utility. Part of its function for the visually impaired is to highlight the button or text item that it is going to speak. i suggest you turn off Voice over either going to System Preferences -> Universal Access and Making sure that voiceover is turned off. Alternatively press Apple(Command) F5 to turn it on & off. The black rectangles should go away. If you want voiceover but not the black rectangles. You can open the voice over utility and change the settings to the text is still spoken but without the highlighting.
