Hi
I have to ask: "How are you going to achieve this if he has a problem with his internet settings?" for example. Templeton's already given you suggestions for the apps, two of which are free: The built-in VNC and LogMein Single Client.

I allowed PC Update Support to take over my computer (long story) When they were done I checked them out and discovered they were most likely scammers. I ran my antivirus program and changed passwords. Should I be concerned that they may have installed malware?

If you are sure they were scammers the only way to be 100% sure they left nothing behind is to wipe your system disk, do a clean install and restore from a backup you are sure was made before the scammers got onto you system.
There is no other way to be sure that thye did not leave somehting behind. In addition if you have used any credit card numbers while on the system, back account (or any other) passwords, tax returns, etc. You need to be alert fo IIdentity Theft | Consumer Information. It may be a good idea to place a fraud alert with one of the credit reporting agencies (the link above will detail what to do)
And of course change the passwords right away.
    good luck

  • How do I take over contacts from other phone?

    3GS, 3.1, Windows 7 Trial version
My wife and I both have a 3GS. For some reason my contacts have disappeared after I upgraded to 3.1. Most of my wife's contacts are the same as mine. Instead of having to enter everything again I would like to take over her contacts but leave the rest of my iPhone settings, apps etc. untouched. Is that possible and if so, how?
    Thanks.

The iphone is designed to be synced with a program on your computer. It is not a stand alone device.
Under the info tab you should have selected a contact program that you want iphone to sync with.
This is where your contacts should be. This way of you lose your contacts, you can just re-sync them.

  • Bex Analyzer Workbook Refresh - How to prevent take over of desktop

    Hi there,
I believe the answer to this queston will be use bex broadcaster but I will try and see if someone has any other experience.
One of our upper mgmt directors is frustrated because when he refreshes the bex analyzer workbooks, the refresh takes over his desktop.
He will kick off the refresh and then wants to go to another task - Like checking something on AS400 screen - or going to check his email - or working in word.
The refresh of the workbook is long running and has several queries to refresh so it monopolizes his desktop.
He will go to the other screens but bex refresh keeps popping up and taking over.
I do not know any other way to have it run in the background unless bex broadcaster is used.  Unfortunately, we are in the process of getting that upgraded and it is not available at this time.
Does anyone have any experience with having the excel refresh run in the background?
    Thank you,
    Lynda

  • How can I get Adobe to take over my computer to help with lost photos?

I have lost photos going from PC to Mac in Lightroom.  Have tried all the standard stuff.  How do I get Adobe to log into my computer remotely to help?

Adobe Support is for problems installing and licensing their software on your computer, not to fix something you’ve done by mistake, unless you pay for their support which will likely cost quite a bit.
If you can describe your issue here in more detail perhaps a forum user can help you.

  • Microsoft support for MacOffice 2011 referred me to Geeks, which proceeded to take over my computer, found dozens of hacker messages, then signed me up for a year of Geeks support

I am running a new (January 2015) iMacx with a fusion 1 terabyte HD and Yosemite. I had to buy a new MacOffice 2011 because the one on my MacBook was not allowed to transfer over. That was when the trouble began. Word would not load so IO phoned Microsoft Support which babbled a bit then said their consultant would help;. That was Geeks. They needed access to my computer and I was fool enough to do it. They showed me dozens of pages of hacker intrusions including lots originating from foreign countries, then said they could clear it up, get rid of the malware and viruses. Took nearly 2 hours. When it was over the iMac worked better, MacOffice loaded fine. But then I started getting warnings from Apple saying someone had my secret logon and was accessing iCloud on their new iPhone. Geeks called the next morning to see how things were going,. I told them and - same routine, into my computer. This time I said I did not want iCloud, iTunes, i-anything.They assured me they took everything out. The mystery accesses continued for another couple days until I went into Keychain Access and deleted everything that had to do with iCloud and the rest of the i-'s, then I deleted all the RSA private keys that seemed unfamiliar. I also changed all my passwords figuring it was clearly Geeks doing it as the Apple warnings said that some of these accesses using my passwords was to a Geeks web site address. Now everything is solid for the first time. No more warnings from Apple, but very frequent shutdowns of Word and Excel.

First, you need to call your bank and credit cards and tell them too. They will cancel every bank and credit card you have and give you new ones. They will probably put you on a fraud watch too. They will also refund any money you've given to the scammers.
Then, contact Apple Support using any method here: http://www.apple.com/support/
Tell them what happened and let them help you resolve your information on their end. Once you get your new credit card information you will have to get everything setup again.
Finally, you will need make sure you have a good backup. I suggest using Time Machine. If you don't already have a backup, you will need to purchase an external hard drive at least as large as all of your current drives. Then, boot into your recovery volume (OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support), erase your hard drive and reinstall OS X. Migrate only your user documents from your backup, no applications. Then, manually reinstall all applications that you didn't purchase through the Mac App Store.
These scams are getting more and more common. In the past, I have been reluctant to suggest erasing your hard drive. I think that just victimizes people all over again. But I don't know what else to suggest. Supposedly, these scammers are only after money, but what you describe is really a worst-case identity-theft scenario. I wish I had some better solution for you, but I don't.

  • I need to speak to a person.  My bank card has been charged over $500 in fees from Itunes that I did not make.  I spoke to someone in India on 7/22 gave them permission to take over my computer and that is what he said.

I need to speak to a person on the phone.  I talke to someone in India on 7/22 I have him total control of my computer he went into my bank account and could see all the charges.  His name was Amhit something, he said there was over $500 in charges that I did not make since over a year this has been happening.  I tried before to address this with apple but I never get a person and the amounts are always small and then on 7/22 I got a larger charge so I called and somehow got Amhit.  Amhit changed my apple password to he could get into my account but I didn't know what it was and I have not been able to do anything in itunes since 7/22 but yet today 8/1 there is a $6.39 charge on my bank card.  Something is very messed up!!!!  Amhit said he would get me a credit and call me the next day...surprise he never called.  I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the people on these forums, including myself, are fellow users - you're not talking to iTunes Support here.
If you've previously contacted iTunes Support then do you have an email that you could reply to ? If not then you can contact them via this link and see what contact methods are available for you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Process "diskmountnotify" takes over the computer

    Hi:
I am having a problem that I really don't understand and I hope that someone can help me understand better - and fix!
I don't know exactly when it started, probably within the past week or two, my Mac has been running very slowly, especially when coming back from a long period of inactivity (It doesn't sleep, but I let the screen go dark).
By slowly, I mean that any click can take up to 2-3 minutes to respond (e.g. activating an application, bringing a window to the front, etc.). Eventually (after about 5-10 minutes, it gets better to a point where is is reasonable, but still sluggish.
I looked at Activity Monitor, which shows that a process called "diskmountnotify" is taking between 96-99% of the CPU, which I have to guess is the reason.
The first thing I don't know is what diskmountnotify does. I can guess based on it's name, but, while I have some external disks mounted plus one AFP server volume, nothing is newly mounted.
The second thing I don't know is how to diagnose what's causing it to hog the CPU.
And last, I have no idea of where to start to fix it.
Any help, advice or direction would be very much appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    --Jeff

    Michael:
    Thank you!
Well, it turns out that the "Open Files and Ports" tab doesn't exist for that process, but a spotlight search shows that the path is:
    /Library/Application Support/Norton Solutions Support/Norton AntiVirus
which means it's a Norton process. I've had many norton processes hog CPU before, so this doesn't shock me.
The parent process is "WindowServer" if that helps.
Any advice is helpful, but I will contact Norton tech support also.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Firefox takes over my computer's entire screen.

It just started happening between one minute and the next. I When I move my cursor to the top of the screen I can see my tabs but not my options and the exit/minimize/maximize icons are very tiny. It covers everything including my task bar at the bottom of my screen. The newest update was installed before this session. Any ideas on how to fix?

Sounds as though you are in "Full Screen" Mode. The F11 key toggles "Full Screen" Mode on or off.

I used Firefox with Windows XP for a number of years. I have tried about 15 different things with an online expert; I don't remember all that we did. I did send a screen shot of the opening page to the expert.

  • 10.4.7 Runs Slow, Spinning Beach Ball, "kass" takes over system

To the helpful frequenters of this forum:
Since installing Tiger and updating to 10.4.7 recently, I have experienced some major system slow downs on my computer. I am running a Titanium Powerbook G4 with 512MB RAM and 12GB free (from a 60GB hard drive).
My problems seem to center on Mail 2 app, which runs very slowly when accessing the IMAP server (a problem I never experienced with Mail 1 in the days of Panther). However, it extends to other applications: when launching iTunes and Safari, I often get a spinning beach ball and a 10-20 second hang that I never had before. Sometimes closing programs can take a long time. Force quit often does not respond, but for some reason pressing my laptop power key (as if to turn off the computer) helps to get things jump-started.
In my Activity Monitor, there is a Process called "kass" that is eating up anywhere from 20-30% of my processor. I think that this is connected to some sort of Key Access software that might have been installed on my computer for my college access, but I am not sure. Here are the details from Activity Monitor:
    /Library/KeyAccess/KeyAccess.app/Contents/SharedSupport/kass.app/Contents/MacOS/ kass

What I don't understand is why this is flaring up now, since the Key Access has always been there (on OS 10.1, 10.2, and 10.3 as I upgraded sequentially). Perhaps there is some sort of bad interaction with the 10.4.7 upgrade? I'm not really sure, but I was wondering how I would go about eliminating this hang up. It might be the source of so much slowing down on my computer!
    Thank you very much,
    Matthew

    Thanks for your help, everyone.
I seem to have solved the problem. The "kass" function was linked to KeyAccess, an app made by Sassafrass. This app was installed on my computer by my University so that I could use certain programs (such as Adobe Photoshop) while on the school network by obtaining a key through the school Internet connection. For some reason this process started to take over my computer once I upgraded to 10.4.7, so I just removed the application from my computer all together. Now the hang-ups in other programs, as well as the IMAP email seem to be back to their old speediness.
    Strange how these things work.

  • Why does Adobe take over?

When I download Adobe Reader it takes over my computer, turning every icon into an Adobe one and killing it.  I have tried the download in Chrome, Mozilla and now IE, uninstalling after every attempt.
