Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store -

I'm assuming you mean photo stream, since photos are not stored in icloud except for backups IF photos are set to be included in backups - and you can't remove photos from a backup after the fact.
Photo stream is a conduit for copying photos from one device to another - it is not designed to store photos long term (photo steam only keeps the photos for 30 days and only up to 1000 of them).
When photos are downloaded to a computer (always sync photos from an iOS device to a computer for archiving one way or another, photo stream is one such way), you should always move photos from the photo stream folder/album to a permanent location. Once moved, you can then delete them from the stream. -

Can I turn off, or remove myself my iCloud account, without losing all my documents on my iMac? My iCloud window popped up unexpectedly, and am worried about a hacker. When I try and sign out of iCloud, The iCloud window is giving me a message that "If you turn off Documents & Data, all documents stored in iCloud will be removed from this Mac". I have iMac OS X 10.7.5, 2.7ghz, Intel core i5. I don't use my iCloud service, and I somehow my iPhone linked it to my computer by mistake. I don't want the service or need it, & don't want my info in cyberspace. I don't want to lose my documents on my hard drive, and it appears that I haven't used any data in iCloud, as 5GB of 5GB is available. HELP.
I would love to hear that Apple has remedied this problem. From other discussion strings that I am following related to this issue, it seems thus far we remain out of luck. I did discover that if I log onto iCloud.com I can access my files that way. Still, what a pain.
When I got the message re iCloud Drive as I was setting up my phone after the update to iOS8, it said I wouldn't be able to access my files unless all of my devices were running iOS8 OR Yosemite. That message was misleading as it really should have said all devices need to be running iOS8 AND your mac needs to be running Yosemite, as it was not an "either or" situation. So frustrating... -

To change your Apple ID, follow these steps:
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com), click "Manage your Apple ID", and sign in.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID. If you are unable to receive messages at your trusted device, follow the guidelines for what to do if you can't sign in with two-step verification.
In the "Apple ID and Primary Email Address section," click Edit.
Enter the email address you want to use, then click Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now in the email.
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your renamed Apple ID.
If you have two-step verification turned on, you'll be asked to send a verification code to the trusted device associated with your Apple ID.

I have been asked to synchronise an Iphone with one of them.

Thank you!Remember that your iPhone will be able to sync with only one computer/iTunes Library. If your boss is insisting that you sync with one of his computers, I do hope he is at least paying your monthly cell bill, and preferably the initial cost of the phone itself.
You can copy your own computer's iTunes Library to your boss's computer first. You will then get all your apps and media back during the first wipe-and-sync with the new computer. You can also copy the Address Book data from your computer to your boss's computer to preserve your Contacts data.
An easier way to preserve your Contacts data is to sync it "over the air" using an email service. MobileMe, Google, and Yahoo are all easy to use for Contacts syncing. This is a very good method to use, since your Contacts are always "in the cloud" and available from anywhere, including from any computer with a web browser connected to the internet.

The right way is to restore the backup that you kept of your old computer onto your new one. If it is too late for that before you do anything set up a backup process for the new one so when it crashes (note I said "when", not "if") you won't be faced with this problem again.
In lieu of that the apps already mentioned will help you get content off the phone if it was not purchased from iTunes. But it it WAS purchased from iTunes just connect the phone to your new computer, Authorize iTunes on the new computer and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes file menu. -
i have a new iphone 5c and i cant get past the security questions. i made my apple account a while ago with an old email. i created a new apple id with my new email but i dont use it. How do i terminate the account with my new email so i can replace my old email? If i reset my security questions will it delete all my stuff?
You can't delete an iTunes account, but you should be able to change the email address that is on it e.g. by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your phone and logging into it, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or via http://appleid.apple.com - you should then be able to put it on your old account.
For your security questions on your old account, if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on that account then the steps half-way down this page will give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address or don't have access to that email account (you won't be able to add one or change it until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

Resetting an account's security questions shouldn't affect any of the purchases that you've made on the account. -

Currently, all of my family's purchases are through my wife's iTunes account. As such, both of our iPhones are synced with iTunes through that account. I would like to add an account just for me, but I also don't want to lose all of the music we've purchased so far. Is this possible?

i have an iPhone4. which was registered to my then email for apple ID. I have changed provider, but my Iphone still has the old email address and I cannot get into loading apps. Any ideas, please
All apps are forever tied to the Apple ID used to originally obtain them. They cannot be transferred to another ID nor updated using any ID other than the ID used to obtain them.
Can you not use that old ID to update these apps or re-download them?
Settings>iTunes/App Store...tap the ID shown...you can sign out then sign back in with your old ID. -

Just restore your old one. This wipes all content from the iPod and resets all of its settings back to its defaults.

I have an ipad 2 WiFi. I was in the hospital having surgery and forgot my password. I tried several times but couldn't get it. I ended up disabling my ipad. There are important pics n notes in there that I need. How can I get back into it without using iTunes (because I bought it second hand, off ebay) and without losing all my saved items. If it's disabled then it's too late to copy any content off it or to take a new backup, you will have to reset it back to factory defaults by connecting it to a computer's iTunes : Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
Have you been backing up to the cloud ? If you have then after resetting it back to factory defaults you can restore to that backup : Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
If you bought it second hand then had the previous user removed their account from Settings > iCloud (and had Find My iPad enabled) on it ? If not and the iPad is on iOS 7+ then you will have to contact the previous owner to reactivate the iPad after resetting it : Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support
