How do I tell if my dv7t 4100 is new or refurbished?

I purchased one a few months ago and it has not worked properly since. What's questionable is that there are very few stickers on the keyboard face and even more peculiar is that the stickers which are common place on laptops on the underside which give specs such as power requirements Product # Serial# etc. are not in plain view. Is there anyway to confirm that my supplier was honest?

Use the HP Support Assistant to see your warranty information. You should also be able to view the product information there. YOu may also use the warranty status tool. You will need the serial number that you can get from either the BIOS -->System information page or the HP Support assistand software.
Best regards,
erico

How do I tell Time Machine to add a new external drive to be backed up?  I have an external drive with data I need to add to my overall back up with what's on my mac.  I have a separate drive already active as the Time Machine backup disk.  I can see how to EXCLUDE disks, but how do I ADD that new external drive to regular backups?
I have 10.8.5 system on my Mac laptop.

Remove the drive from the list of items set to be excluded. It needs to be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for this to be possible.

  • How Can I Tell if My iPad Air Replacement is New or Refurbished

I'm getting a replacement iPad Air because mine had a problem with it, there were loose magnets in it. I've heard that people have another person's data on apps they have just downloaded and that makes me really uncomfortable.
How can I tell if my replacement is brand new or just refurbished? Is there info in the serial/model number?
    Thanks.

You might hear a lot of things on the Internet but that doesn't make them true.
If you got a refurbished iPad from Apple it would be completely empty.
Refurbished iPads are identified on the packaging.
You can see the model number in Settings > Genera l> About > Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved).

  • Lost itunes libary how can i tell my itunes that it´s my iphone?

Hi, my computer just crashed, now i got a new one, but how can i tell itunes that this is my new computer and that this is my iphone?
The phone is available in itunes but i can´t switch anything, (apps, music etc)
    plz help me

The iphone will sycn with one and only one cpmputer at a time.  When you sync to another it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • Dumb question alert: How do I tell 32 bit  from 64?

Is 32 or 64 bit a function of software or hardware? How can I tell the difference when looking at new computer specs? Do I need it for CS3?
I guess I am using 32 bit XP since my PC is over 4 years old. I now have Prod Prem CS3. What is my best PC/OS combination purchase prospect for MiniDV video editing and a little sound work? I do plan to upgrade to HD within a year or two, but my system is not cutting it.
Also, my computer has not been the same since upgrading from CS2 to CS3. Lots of crashes and everything is super slow.

CS3 is a 100% native 32bit application. For the time being I would not concern yourself about anything 64bit, but rather concentrate on keeping system speed fast and powerful in the 32bit realm where CS3 confortably resides. As always, 2 to 4GB of RAM, a good dualcore processor (or quadcore as budget allows) and a fast and spacious HDD (10k RPM if budget allows) and you will have the beginnings of a good system for video editing.
I would stick with XP Pro (32 bit), rather than Vista, in my opinion, as it is less memory intensive and more stable.

  • My Recovery Drive is Full, How do I clean it up? (HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO)

Hi, I'm not too comfortable with messing around with the inner workings of my computer, but the Recovery Hard Disk Drive has been slowly filling up for a while now. It is just about full and I was wondering if there was any way for me to clean it up/restore it without messing up my programs and files? I did it once before, but I can't remember how and I'm too scared to mess with it without some kind of instruction.
I have a USB hard drive for making back ups that I use now as a precaution if something goes wrong with cleaning the Recovery Disk.
My computer is a HP Pavilion dv7t-4100 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook PC running on  Windows 7.
If someone could give me some advice, that would be wonderful.

    Hi,
See the HP document on the following link regarding this issue - although the document refers o Vista, it also applies to Windows 7.

Want to share my problem right now.
I broke the LCD of my HP Dv7T-4100 Laptop last june and now im having a hard time to find a LCD that will work the same as mine. Problem is that HP here at the Philippines doesnt support this kind of problem only if im going to bring this back to california where my uncle bought it.
I found a Computer Service here but when we managed to replaced my Laptop LCD there's a green dots on the whole screen (we dont know what is that.). We tried to use 16 inch LCD and i'm suprised that it is working (but i didnt bought it of course) .
I saw seller at ebay.com.ph and says "We do have the compatible part in stock for your model. B173RW01-V0"
heres the link :  ebay lcd

  • Bootmgr missing dv7t-4100

Have a dv7t-4100 whose disk drive would crash after 10 min of play when I first got it. Calling inti support didn't help and I didn't worry about it because I don't really use it.
So a year later my computer crashes and recovery wouldn't go past classpnp. So hp warranty sent me a new hard drive.
Now it'll go through the 2 recovery discs and ejects them. Then the final phase it freezes @a 12%. If I restart it, the bootmgr is missing. I've tried changing where it reads the cd drive first. I can get to system restore/repair before the bootmgr missing screen pops up. How do I repair this?

    Try the following process.
Download and create the bootable CD as described on the link below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-80183-1&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en
When you have created this CD, insert it into the system that is unable to boot, restart it and wait until you see a window with a green check mark.  Then remove the CD.  Shutdown the notebook and start it again with no Disc inserted in the CD/DVD Drive.  Then insert your first Recovery DVD.  Restart the notebook and go through the process of installing the Operating System again.
If the above fails to correct the issue, post back with the full version of the operating system you are trying to install ( ie Windows 7 64bit ).

  • Backlit keyboard for dv7t-4100?

I need to replace the keyboard in my Pavilion dv7t-4100.  Is it possible to install a backlit keyboard, i.e. is the backlight connector present on the motherboard on this model?  If so, what is the part number for the backlit keyboard?  I've heard of people installing backlit keyboards intended for other models.
    This question was solved.

    Hello anshuman_ina.
According to page 57 of your notebook's Maintenance and Service Guide (click here) there are backlit keyboards for this model.  The guide has the part numbers listed.

  • Pavilion DV7t-4100 hard drive upgrade fail

Hello all, thanks for taking the time to read my question. I'm stuck in the process of upgrading and HP Pavilion DV7T–4100 laptop. The machine is a couple of years old runs Windows 7 and came originally equipped with two Toshiba 300GB hard drives. The hard drives are configured for one drive,C:, to host the operating system the second drive,D:, to host data. The D drive has now run out of room. I have purchased a Samsung spinpoint 2TB hard drive in order to have more space, but what I thought would be an easy upgrade turned into many long hours and frustration, not to mention funny looks from the wife.
Here is what I've done to date:
    1. Connected the new 2 TB hard drive to the computer via USB (Windows recognizes hard drive)
    2. Cloned the D: drive onto the new hard drive using Seagate disc wizard (also tried mini tool partition wizard) maintaining the original partition size.
    3. Turned the computer off, removed the D drive and installed the 2TB drive in its place.
    4. Restarted the computer only to find that Windows would not see the new drive. Attempted to find a drive-by going to computer management /storage/disk management where was not present either. Rebooted the computer once more, went into BIOS where I discovered that it does not see the new drive. BIOS does not have an option to discover new hardware.
    5. Suspecting a bad drive, bad cable, or other bad things, I replaced the original D: drive back. Everything seems to work fine. The computer sees the original D: drive through SATA and the replacement drive through USB. Leaving me where I started, still out of room....
    6. Following new advice, I reformatted to drive with just a single volume and no data in it. I didn't want to drive via SATA but neither bios norwindows and see it.
My question is: How do I get the BIOS to recognize the replacement hard drive, so that windows will recognize the replacement hard drive, so that my wife won't recognize I'm an idiot?

    Hi
    You're welcome
    Few things:
Update bios & chipset from your product download site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4317...
Now put the new 2tb hdd & check
If no joy, don't remove it - go to disk management , take a screenshot & please post it here.
Now power off, wait - then power on again - go to bios setup & boot device options to check if you can see the 2tb hdd in anywhere here.
If no joy, proceed & shut down - take out 2tb and connect it via USB , power on - go Disk Management - take a screenshot and please post it here.
Hope you have formatted previously the hdd from Disk Management by right clicking the hdd in the lower graphical console - New Simple Volume -> format, Am I correct?
Also, please post the model number/name of both Toshiba 300gb old hdd & the new 2tb Seagate hdd.
    AT LAST,
Just blow out with dry canned air - the sata port of second hdd bay , after shutting down laptop completely & after doing a hard reset.
And try connecting 2tb hdd again and check.
Also, can you check if the 2tb hdd is working by testing it in another laptop by connecting via sata.
    Regards
    Visruth
