How do I tell if USB-2 is Working?

In Device Manager I have these:
Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
Along with 3 of these:
USB Root Hub
I don't  have anything that says USB 2.0.   What do you have?
Getting a USB 2 flash drive and just was getting curious about it.  I have fully patched XP SP1 which is supposed to have the USB drivers but I wonder if they're working.
If yours works, what do you have?

This is related to Jimmy's question>
How can I be sure that my USB 2.0 devices are using the USB 2.0 ports?
When I re-plugged my multi-function printer I got the Warning window that my 2.0 device would be slowed if plugged into a slower hub/port.  It suggested that I should plug the device into an enhanced hub but all that was listed were 8 under the enhanced hub.  There was no indication that the device was connected to this enhanced hub.  My machine only has 8 USB ports so logic would dictate that if 8 ports were listed under the enhanced hub that all 8 ports would be enhanced but this is Windows we are talking about.
I did check the Device Manager
Start>
Settings>Control Panel
Performance and Maintenance>System>Device Manager
Under the USB devices you should see your Flash Drive listed
Right click to bring up menu and select Properties and under the GENERAL tab is should say if the drive is using the USB 2.0 under LOCATION.
For example mine said : Location 0 (USB2.0 MFP) for my multi-purpose printer under the composite device listing in the device manager  but the print and mass storage listings just stated Location 0.
I took this to mean that Location 0 had a USB2.0 multi-function printer attached to location 0 but does that necessarily mean that Location 0 is on an enhanced hub?
Thanks for a clairification

My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.

  • [p7-1240] How can I tell which graphics cards will work with my motherboard?

I recently went through the nightmare of trying to install a Gigabyte GTX 650 in my PC. After a few days of struggling and scouring the internet for answers, I discovered that it is incompatible with the BIOS on my motherboard, and HP does not offer BIOS updates. I returned the card and am now looking for a new one, but I am unsure of which cards will work now, since my computer met all of the system requirements for the graphics card, and It stil ldid not work. Since GPU manufacturers do not list BIOS specs under system requirements, how can I tell if a graphics card will work with my sytem?
My computer is a p7-1240 with an upgraded 520W PSU and approximeately 11" of room to install the card.

    Thexn, welcome to the forum.
The problem is, many of the newer video cards require the computer to have a full UEFI BIOS.  HP began using one in mid-October, 2012.  Before this date the BIOS is Legacy.  This is why the video card didn't work with your computer.
I don't know what you want to spend for a card, but MSI makes a GTX 750ti that has a hybrid VBIOS.  It has a switch to change to Legacy or UEFI.  There is a video link directly below the picture of a card.  Paul from Newegg gives a full description of the card.
I like EVGA cards the best.  Their Tech Support has given me a lot of information about their cards.  However, you have to go back to a GT 640 card to find one of their cards that doesn't require the UEFI BIOS.  They do have some updates for their BIOS'es that solve the problem, but you have to call them for the exact cards.

  • How can I tell if my ram is working in duel mode?

I would I be able to tell if ym ram is working in duel mode? My system is in my sig

You can use CPU-Z. When you boot up look at the post screen, hit the Pause key to, well, pause the process so you can read it. It'll say dual liner mode, I believe.

  • How can I tell what USB version I've got?

Hi All, I've got a G4 iBook using OS X 10.4.7 I bought back in late 2003 I can't remember if it has USB 1 or 2.0. Does anyone know how I can determine what version USB i've got?
Also, if it turns out that I've got USB 1.0, is there anyway I can update to 2.0 eg is it a matter of updating software?

All G4 iBooks have USB 2.
Go to the Apple menu and select About This Mac and then click on More Info to launch Apple System Profiler. Click on USB on the left and you'll see USB High Speed Bus on the right. Click on it and it will show the speed of the bus to be 480 Mb/sec. USB 1 is 12 Mb/sec.

  • How can we tell if SQL*Loader is working on a TABLE?

We have a process that requires comparing batches with LDAP information. Instead of using an LDAP lookup tool, we get a nightly directory file, and import the two COLUMNs we want via SQL*Loader (REPLACE) into an IOT. Out of three cases, two just check the first COLUMN, and the third needs the second COLUMN as well.
We did not think of using External TABLEs, because we cannot store files on the DB server itself.
The question arises, what to do while the file is being imported. The file is just under 300M, so it takes a minute or so to replace all the data. We found SQL*Loader waits until a transaction is finished before starting, but a query against the TABLE only waits while it is actually importing the data. At the beginning of SQL*Loader's process, however, a query against the TABLE returns no rows.
The solution we are trying right now is, to have the process that starts SQL*Loader flip a flag in another TABLE denoting that it is unavailable. When it is done, it flips it back, and notes the date. Then, the process that queries the information, exits if the flag is currently 'N'.
The problem, is, what if SQL*Loader starts inbetween the check of the flag, and the query against the TABLE. How do we guarantee that it is still not being imported.
I can think of three solutions:
    1) LOCK the ldap information TABLE before checking the flag.
    2) LOCK the record that the process starting SQL*Loader flips.
    3) Add a clause to the query against the TABLE checks that there are records in the TABLE (AND EXISTS(SELECT * FROM ldap_information).
The problem with 3) is that the process has already tagged the batches (via a COLUMN). It could, technically reset them afterwards, but that seems a bit backwards.

Just out of curiosity, are you aware that Oracle supplies a DBMS_LDAP package for pulling information from LDAP sources? It would obviously be relatively easy to have a single transaction that deletes the existing data, loads the new data via DBMS_LDAP, and commits, which would get around the problem you're having with SQL*Loader truncating the table.
You could also have SQL*Loader load the data into a staging table and then have a second process either MERGE the changes from the staging table into the real table (again in a transactionally consistent manner) or just delete and insert the data.

  • How can I tell if my cluster is working?

This seems like a question I should know the answer to, but I set up a quickcluster and can't tell if both machines are actually processing the job or if only one machine is.
In the old version of compressor, I had qmaster in the bar which turned green if it was working.

I should mention that on my laptop (connected via ethernet and both machines are talking to each other), which is the secondary machine, when I open the Share Monitor, it can "see" the batch via the cluster.
It just doesn't really seem like it's doing anything else.

  • How can I get a USB-8473 to work at 125kbps?

    All,
I am using an NI USB-8473 high speed CAN card.  I've plugged in into a known-good CAN port in a network that works fine at 500kbps with other CAN devices.
When I run the 8473 at 125Kbps, it works fine.  When I run it faster than that, it does not work.  It does not read CAN data, although the CAN LED does flash before an error (3FF6206B or other) is generated.  When I try to write to the bus at speeds above 125K, the device appears to attempt to write once, then stop functioning.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Although the network works with another interface at 500kbps, please check if your cabling meets the requirements for High-Speed CAN (page 4-4 of the NI-CAN Hardware and Software Manual).
Do you use proper cable termination as mentionned at page 4-5 of above linked document ?
Has the "know-good CAN port" an onboard 120 ohm termination resistor ?

  • How do I get GPIB USB-A to work in MAX 2.2?

I updated from LV 6.0 to 6.1. During the intallation MAX was updated to version 2.2. My problem is that my GPIB cark USB-A is not suported in MAX 2.2, I updated to 488.2 2.0 (W32) and I can now use my card within MAX again, but I cant use VISA aliases anymore. This is a problem since some of my older programs uses aliases for both instruments and COM ports. Is there an upgrade I can run or will I have to work without aliases?
Is it possible to uninstall MAX 2.2 and reinstall the old MAX from LV 6.0 and get it to work with LV 6.1?
Hope someone has a solution for my problem.

You do not NEED Max to set up aliases.
Check with NI support about editing Visaconfig.ini (?).
The aliases end up in that file.

  • How can you tell?

I just bought a new Airport Extr N which replaced an older G version, I have a new macbook that is N capable too. Nice hah, well how do you tell if the N is working at the max speed? I did install the new Airport Util for the new AE N - what setting and where can you tell if it is working faster then it did at G ? Maybe seems a bit faster, not sure? What is Multicase rate ? currently set to 2 Mbps in wireless options in AE Util ? I do have older G and B Macs on the network. Thanks for your time!

    What is Multicase rate ?
The Multicast rate tells the base station the minimum data rate at which it should maintain the connection. In other words, if the data rate falls below the multicast setting, the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) will break the wireless connection.

  • HT4543 How do you know if the fan is working on the mac book pro

How can you tell if your fan is working on your mac book pro?  I cannot hear mine running and can't feel any air coming out. A couple of weeks ago, my battery literally exploded out of the case,  Is this an item that can be self serviced or does it require a trip to the Apple repair store?

Macbook pro fan usually has really LOW noise, and it is not really strong, so you might not feel the air.
Fans are used to cool the CPU and GPU, not batteries.
But if you need to replace fans or batteries, take it to the store. Make reservations to save time.

Thought you could use this info about getting FireWire to work!   First, you should always Repair Permissions in Disk Utility before and after any update; I would do that now. If you installed your update with FireWire plugged in, your Mac may not recognize it anymore.
Try resetting your FireWire ports by disconnecting all FW devices, shut down your Mac and unplug it from AC power (wall socket) for 15 minutes. plug it back in and try FW.
If that didn't work, download the combo update from this site (yours may be corrupt), not Software Update, disconnect all firewire + USB devices except keyboard + mouse, Repair Permissions, re-install update, Repair Permissions again + try.
If that still didn't get it Zap the PRAM. While restarting Mac hold down the following key combo Command-Option-P-R. Keep holding those keys down till you hear the second start-up chime, then release.
A bad internal PRAM battery can also cause FireWire to not be recognized, so make sure it's good!   Also, here is Apple doc.#88338 on getting FireWire to work.
