I have an iphone 4G 8gb and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 plus. I am wanting to tether my tablet to my phone. Can i do this without jailbreaking my phone or do i have to jailbreak it?

The SSID identifying the phone's WiFi personal hotspot isn't hidden, and shows up in other devices without needing to be entered. If you're talking about the WiFi password that has to be entered in the connecting devices, that can be changed in the phone settings:
Settings > General > Network > Personal Hotspot > WiFi Password > -

I am trying to synchronize and tether my new iphone to my computer, but I cannot find the networking option within the phone. When I connect the two my computer does not even recognize the phone.
You need to start iTunes 11.1 or later on your computer. Then connect your phone to the computer. Your phone will seen in iTunes. All syncing is done through iTunes.
To copy photos from your Camera Roll on the phone use an image capture or camera application on the computer. Your phone will be recognized as a camera.
Normally an iPhone will not show up on a computer like a connected hard drive. -

I have a iPhone4, I had upgrade to the ios 6. Now I can't tether my phone to use the hotspot, I can use the airport on my MBP to use the internet but it is much slower. My ISP is AT&T. tethering is quicker with wifi..
so make sure wifi on ur laptop is on..
on the i phn go to settings> wifi> turn it off first..
then come back to settings by tapping settings on the top left hand side..
then go to personal hotspot under settings.. if its not there.. then go to..
settings> general> mobile data or cellular > turn on personal hotspot..
it will give a prompt to turn on wifi.. turn it on and then check ur laptop..
it will detect the i phn as a wireless netwrk.. click on the name of the i phn and enter the wifi password..
it will get connected.. then start browsing internet on laptop..:) -

Not sure if this can be done or not but try the following process,
On your iphone
Settings > Personal Hotspot > On (and take note of the password or set one up).
On your Samsung Tablet, set up a WiFi connection and try to connect to the hotspot generated by your iPhone.

My laptop runs on windows vista and my iPhone 4s has the latest updates.I want to use my home wifi signal to tether my iPhone to my laptop via USB ,as my laptops wifi card is broken. It worked ok with my old HTC desire as when I can extend it to my laptop it had a list os options of what you wanted to do and one of them was tethering, as I'm useing my home wifi I don't need to worry about my data usage.
