  • How do you delete e-mail without opening?

I just got a blackberry curve.  I want to delete an e-mail without opening it but cannot find an option to do this.  When I have the e-mail open and I hit the menu key (the one with the spots) there is an option to delete.  I would like to be able to do this without having to open the e-mail.  Can someone help me??
    Thanks!

Click the email application button where you will see a list of all your emails.
Scroll to the unopened email, but don't click on it. Click the BlackBerry button (the one with the spots).
Scroll down until you see delete. Select that, and then choose where you would like to delete the message (On mailbox & handheld or just handheld).
Good luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions.

  • How to get and delete questionable mail without actually opening it first.

I am new to Apple again, having bought my first Apple many years ago (an Apple 2C). Does anyone know if I can get mail and delete it without opening it first? If so, I am thinking it is somehow in Preferences but I cannot figure it out. I often get mail from unknown sources (left over from my PC days - ?able viruses on PC) that I don't wish to take the chance to open. In order to delete it, I have to open it first. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance for your help.

Actually, there is a risk in viewing certain messages, but only if you have enabled Preferences > Viewing > Display remote images in HTML messages — see How HTML Email Messages Relate to Unsolicited Commercial Email ("spam").
As long as Display remote images in HTML messages is OFF and you don’t click on any hyperlink or image the message may contain, you can safely view any messages you receive in Mail.
That said, there are at least three ways to select a message and delete it without displaying its contents:
    (1) You can hide the preview pane by dragging the separator bar between the message list and the preview pane to the bottom of the window, or by just double-clicking within the separator bar, so that the preview pane disappears and only the message list is visible. To make the preview pane visible again, drag the separator bar up from the bottom of the window, or just double-click on the separator bar again.
    (2) If you select the message with the mouse, the message is displayed in the preview pane when the mouse button is released, not when it’s pressed. This allows you to drag the message to the Trash or to any other mailbox without Mail trying to display its contents.
    (3) Ctrl-clicking on a message causes a contextual menu to appear, from which you can usually (but not always, don’t ask me why) choose Delete or Move To, before the contents of the message are displayed in the preview pane.

  • How to recover - rescue - deleted INBOX (Mail 2) with emlx format?

Hello, I have accidentally deleted my emails (MAC OS 10.4.8, .emlx format). I had over 6000 emails in the folder INBOX. It happened because I stupidly used action "delete" from Mail menu (Mailbox - delete). I shut immediately my computer down and restarted the computer from another disc for best data preservation after I found zero emails in my INBOX. I have found and tried DataRescue II ver. 1.1 (ProSoft eng. inc.) software to recover .emlx format from affected hard drive but it only found old email format .mbox instead of .emlx. I have also found and tried FileSalvage Software (SubRosaSoft) to recover .emlx format from affected hard drive but only around 40 of .elmx emails was found. Are my emails really definitely lost? Can you help me please with some advice? Thank you! Best regards Fofr.
    iMac G5/2,1GHz/20"/iSight   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hello Fofr.
FileSalvage is the only data recovery utility I know for sure that can recover deleted *.emlx files. I don't expect you to be able to recover all the 6000+ deleted messages, but just 40 without having done anything with the computer seems too little to me.
What type of account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? Any chances some of the lost messages could still be on the server?

  • How to delete incoming mail without opening

I receive many bogus e.mails pertaining to come from various banks of which I have no connection. I like to delete these without opening but to delete them it seems you have to open them first. Any help with this issue would be appreciated. Thank you.

I think you are over-worrying. TB doesn't run scripts in messages, so unless you click on anything, it can't launch covert content. You could switch off HTMl to prevent webbugs.
You should find that right-click then delete will do the job.

  • How do I select an e-mail without opening it?

Sorry if this is already answered, I couldn't find it anywhere.
When I get a new e-mail I go to the inbox and see that it's junk mail. It has the blue dot next to it showing that it has not been opened. How do I send it to the junk folder without selecting/opening/reading it? This is a problem because I am led to believe that the spammers know if their message was read and will send more. If I control-click on it and send it to Junk it still marks it as read.
    Thanks.

    Hello Ariel.
The Mail.app does not support requesting a delivered or read receipt for messages sent by the Mail.app nor does it provide a delivered or read receipt without your knowledge when requested by the sender so this is no concern with the Mail.app.
To protect yourself from spammers, do not automatically render all HTML received. If a spammer's HTML includes embedded images and/or objects, there is a potential you are notifyng the spammer your email address is valid when any HTML is rendered. This is often done by embedding your email address in the HTML links (particularly for graphics). When your mail application connects to the Internet to load graphics from the spammer's Web site, the spammer can log your address as "known good."
If the Mail.app automatically marks a message as Junk, it will not automatically render any HTML included in the message when the message is opened but if you prefer to tightly control your email address, turning off HTML rendering is a good idea. If the HTML is not rendered, then no request is sent to the spammer when viewing the mail.
If you choose to turn off HTML rendering, beware that clicking any link in the unrendered message may compromise your identity. When viewing a spam message, do not click on any link that contains any portion of your email address. If the link appears to include encrypted data (looks like random characters), this could also be your email user name.
Follow these steps to turn on or off HTML rendering, as desired:
    1. Open Mail.
    2. Choose Mail > Preferences.
    3. Click the Viewing icon in the Preferences window.
    4. Select or deselect (as desired) the checkbox for "Display images and embedded objects in HTML messages".
If there is a valid message that contains HTML that must be rendered from a remote server, select the Load Images button at the upper right of the message window below the message header.

  • How to view source of e-mail without opening so I don't get a virus

I want to be able to look at my e-mail, see who it is from, and delete if from an unwanted source.  Can this be done?  Thanks

Just to provide a third opinion, the others are 100% correct. Viewing a message in Mail will not infect you with anything. Of course, it should go without saying (but often needs to be said) that you shouldn't open any attachments. Keep in mind that someone you know could become infected with something that sends itself to you. (That happened years ago with the Leap malware that spread through iChat, but has not yet happened on a Mac with e-mail. It always could, though.) So, don't necessarily trust an attachment just because it came from someone you know.

  • How can I delete a message without opening an adjacent one?

Before Yosemite you could delete a message from Mail.app without opening an adjacent message by holding option and clicking the garbage can.
However, in Yosemite, there doesn't seem to be a way to delete a message without opening (and setting the message's status to "read") an adjacent message.
I often don't have time to read all the messages in my Inbox so I'll quickly read some important ones and I'll leave the others as "unread" to get back to later in the day. Yosemite Mail doesn't seem to support this workflow anymore…
Anyone know a workaround; short of manually setting a messages status back to "unread"?

Ok, I'm answering my own question.  I made up a fake user name to get into my Palm Desktop and deleted profiles.  Then I went in with real user name.  All of my calendar entries were gone, but fortunately within the last month I had HotSynced and was able to HotSync again to get it back from my handheld.  I think I need a blackberry.  This stuff happens way too often.

Plz tell  me how to send image file through mail without any attachment  ( i mean not converting  that image into pdf or any format )  i want to send that text or image  through mail .

    Hi Sandeep,
I think you can setup the type of email in Shared office Settings in transaction S016.
There is an option called <Preset document classes>
You choose this pushbutton to branch to the maintenance screen for the document classes that are directly displayed to users in the Business Workplace for selection when they use the Create function. The name under which the documents are displayed can also be maintained.

  • On an iMac why can't you delete an email without opening it?

Why can't I delete an email without opening it first? Is this not a security risk as I have always been advised that, if I don't know who the email is from, I should delete it so as to avoid opening any suspect attachments that open immediately.
This is my first Mac so could it be that I have not realised how to do this?
My wife can do this on her iPad.

    A couple of points:
    1. Your concern is not really an issue with macs. More of a PC thing. "Suspect attachments" are extremely, extremely rare for a mac. I mean, like one since 1984, when I bought my first mac. The reason is that Apple seems to be on top of things and keeps updating mac software to protect your mac from this sort of thing. Just keep up with the system updates and you won't have a problem. Microsoft, on the other hand, makes tons of security holes in their software because of their mindset, i.e., that the consumer is a moron and the enemy.
    2. In my mail.app, there are three columns in the message viewer, the first which lists the mailboxes, the second which lists the emails, and the third which is a preview window. I can select an email in the second column and delete it without opening it, so I don't see what the problem is that you're having.
