How do I transfer all files from macbook to windows 7 laptop

Hi there,
I am having a problem with my macbook. 6 weeks ago I got a new logic board installed under extended warranty as it was having kernel panics which I took out. Sadly my warranty expired 3 weeks ago. I am now having a problem with my macbook, I am using it and then suddenly it shuts down with no warning, no signal. I have got my stuff backed up on a harddrive but when I plugged it into my partners windows laptop it didn't read it. I spoke to Apple and they said I need to reformat the hard drive so that it works with both windows and macs, something I didn't know before!
Anyway... 1) it takes a while for my whole harddrive to be uploaded and I fear that now this problem is recurring the laptop will not stay on long enough for me to recover my data. It makes me loathe to reformat the harddrive with the data on it.
2) Is there a way that I can get my itunes library to a PC simply? The only way I know that has worked before is literally to drag and drop every music file onto a USB stick and this took me about 5 days and made me very dispondent!
3) I have an iphone too...because I've always plugged it into my mac, does it now mean it won't work on a PC? Or do they work both ways so it doesn't matter?
4) does anyone have any experience of this type of problem and what was the fault?
The guy at the local apple store told me if it's related to the logic board then that part is covered by a 90 day warranty. However I also now thinking of it realise that the fans were very noisy a few weeks ago and now suddenly I don't hear them at all, I wonder if it is that which is the problem.
I am rather distressed as I am not a technically minded person and my macbook has been so good to me until the last couple of months. I backed up my data with the best will in the world but am now very anxious that I may well lose everything.
My mac currently still boots up but you never know when it's going to conk out and it is a major concern for me. I am not in a financial position to afford hundreds on a repair bill (that's why I had the extended warranty but sadly they wouldn't re-extend it as it wasn't apple policy) nor to purchase a new mac and am looking at the possibility of cutting my losses and going back to using my fiances windows laptop. Shudder.

Hi, I purchased a children's learning program online. I am now trying to transfer that program file from my macbook onto my kids ipad's. How do I do this without using itunes? I didn't aquire it from itunes but from the makers own website. We homeschool our kids and it would be so much easier for them to each have it on their own ipads. Thank you anamanners

The only place you can get programs for the iPad is from the iTunes Store. An application downloaded from a developer's web site will not work, and probably is for some other platform such as your Mac, as Kappy suggested. You'll need to ask the developer if they make a version for the iPad and if so will need to get it from the iTunes Store.

why use itermediary?
Apple does have some limited HFS read only under Windows, or the Paragon HFS driver (9.x) works very well also.
Of course read/write to/from the same hard drive is slower than disk to disk, as your disk has to keep repositioning the head.
Large files and USB... boy I think I'd go for something more robust and reliable and faster, like USB3 or FW400 at minimum.

Here is an explanation as to why you aren't finding any information on Easy Transfer in Win 8.1:

Also, here is a guide that will help you determine which programs that you are using in Vista will be compatible with Win 8.1.
Personally, I have upgraded my computer from Win 7 Pro to Win 8 Pro and then to Win 8.1. I haven't found any programs that don't run in Win 8.1. I hope you have the same fortune.

They are protected WMA from when you RIP'd them with WMP. iTunes will not read them.
Go to WMP Tools -> Rip Music.
Under Rip settings, it is set to *Windows Media Audio* and most likely *Copy protect music* is ticked. This is how it is protected.
You will need to reRIP them all from CD.

If you had read carefully, Migration Assistant asks what you want to do in this event. That would have precluded the redundancy.
Part of the fundamental design of OS X is to separate user accounts so that one user can't interfere with another. It's not possible to directly merge an account with another, but you can copy whatever you need to the Shared folder - it is in your Users folder.
Log in to one account, prefereably a smaller one, and drag the files and folders into Shared. Log out, log into the account you want to be "primary" and drag the files from Shared into their appropriate locations. When you have copied everything you need delete the redundant account.
Do this for each of them.
Or, you can just run Migration Assistant again and follow the prompts that address the situation you described. It involves creating a secondary, temporary account from which you can administer the transfer. When it is complete you delete the temporary account(s).
