How do I transfer apps to iTunes on my NEW laptop?

So for my bday I got a new laptop. Tonight I decided to transfer my music to my new laptop's iTunes library. I tried doing it with CDs but realized it could be done much more simply by just using Home Sharing from my old laptop. I tried plugging in my ipod and syncing but then all my apps vanished from the library on itunes. I quickly yanked it off and my apps were still there, ok. But I have alot of new songs I want on my laptop but If I plug it in it will erase ALL of my apps. How do I transfer the apps to my library on my new laptop while keeping everything already on it? PLEASE HELP ME! Thanks(:

What I would do is to move all the apps music and other media to the new cmputer.  Make sure the computer is authorized for the iTunes account(s) and iTunes logged into the progler account. Then connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.  Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • How do I transfer my entire iTunes library to new laptop?

I have just recently purchased a new notebook/laptop. (Not a Mac). I would like to transfer everything from old laptop to the new without loosing anything. Are there programs that assist in this? If so can you point me in the right direction please?
    Thanks :)

If you're moving from PC to PC then perhaps Windows Easy Transfer is the tool for you, although I'd still recommend you look at method 1 from my earlier link. If you don't have a backup strategy now then it is time you got one. Hard drives can and do fail without warning. All your personal data should be on at least two if not three separate disks to avoid disappointment.

I have been unsuccessful in transferring my music over to my new MacBook from my PC Windows Vista. I even subscribed to MobileMe, but it wouldn't work! So, I have decided to take the time to copy all my music to CDs & do it that way, but how am I going to transfer my apps? If I sync my iPhone with my iTunes library on my MacBook once I have transferred the songs, won't the apps be erased on my phone? Is there a way using MobileMe I could do so? Please please please help.

Do you have access to an external hard drive that you were using for your computer's backup with your PC which has enough storage capacity for your entire iTunes library?
If so, using the external hard drive would be a good way to do this. You would transfer your iTunes named folder in your My Music folder on your PC followed by transferring the iTunes named folder from the external hard drive to the Music folder on your Mac - with iTunes quit when doing so. This will transfer all music, videos, 3rd party apps, playlists, etc. from your PC to your Mac.
If most of your iTunes library includes music purchased from the iTunes store, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your new MacBook with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.
With your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If all 3rd party apps do not transfer from your iPhone to your iTunes library on your Mac, you can re-download purchased apps with iTunes on your MacBook and you won't be charged again as long as you use the same iTunes account that was used to purchase the 3rd party apps.

  • How do I transfer apps from Itunes to my iTouch?

Hi! I'm a new apple user.My father bought me a new iPod touch.
I have downloaded some apps from iTunes in my PC (Windows 7), and I want to transfer it to my iPod touch.
I thought that syncing would do the trick. But there's a pop up message box saying that all my apps on my iPod and their datas would be replaced by the apps from my iTunes library.
Is this the right thing to do or there's another way to do the trick? Please help me Apple Community!

The message you are getting is saying that your iPod is already synced to another iTunes library. You can only sync with one iTunes library.
    - To make this computer/iTunes your syncing computer/iTunes library:
    --- Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
--- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backu Up
--- Restore the iPod from tha backup.

  • How do I transfer apps from old iPhone to new???

When installing my new iPhone last night I realised that the apps I downloaded direct from my old iPhone were not going to be on my new iPhone. All the apps I downloaded from iTunes were re-installed. I wouldn't mind so much but I paid for some of them!
Does this mean I have to buy them again. And maybe in the future it might be an idea to just download paid apps from iTunes so you will always have them in the future!!!

That's interesting. I had the same problem. The only apps on iTunes were the ones I downloading with iTunes. It never asked me if I wanted to transfer apps from my phone.
Now I've downloaded the apps again on my new phone, and again I'm not getting the option to sync them onto iTunes. I'm beginning to think that the only safe thing to do is to download on iTunes as much as possible.
I wish there were some way to force this type of sync.

  • How do I transfer my Music Library to my new laptop?

Hey there everybody! I have an Imac G4 swivel-screen and a new white MacBook 1.83. I would like to transfer my music library from my IMac to the laptop. I do have an touchscreen Gen2 Ipod that I was thinking of using, but taking the songs, copying them to my Ipod then connecting the Ipod to the laptop and copying all the songs one at a time to the laptop takes forever as i have 1000+ songs to transfer. Any faster methods of transfering songs?
Also, I did said method with some songs I purchased at the iTunes store, an it said I have to Authorize my laptop to play them, Do i have to do it for every song I purchased from the iTunes store?
F.Y.I. I have upgraded to iTunes 7 and Mac OS 10.4.7. Thanks for Reading!

Probably the most straightforward way to get iTunes onto your new computer is to network it and the original one and copy over your entire iTunes folder. This works fine if you have been using iTunes to completely manage your music and all your songs are in iTunes Music not in different folders: Connecting two Mac computers using Ethernet
Copying the whole folder brings with it the iTunes Music folder and also the iTunes Library (iTunes Library.itl in Windows) database file which holds all the information about your songs (Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, Last Played, Date Added, etc). You'll get more information including the Folder/File structure in this article: What are the iTunes library files?
When you copy the iTunes folder make sure you put it into the same location on the new computer. This has to be the exact same place, on a Mac this would be in Username/Music/. When you open iTunes on the new computer it will be the same as on the original one Songs, Playlists, Play Counts, Ratings etc. When I moved iTunes recently for my daughter I was also using the same version of iTunes, not sure how important that is but it's probably worth keeping them the same. When you are authorising your computer you only need to do it once not for every song.
Another way would be to use an external hard drive, the guide for using the iPod as a hard drive is a good starting point. Apart from the sections on initially setting up the iPod, the instructions are the same for copying the iTunes folder to an actual external drive. If you substitute "external hard drive" for "iPod" the process is the same: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer

  • HT1473 My daughter has a new computer, how do we transfer her ipod music to the new laptop.  Sync seems to want to delete it all

Sorry the question was in the title.  A new laptop for christmas...I thought by downloading itunes to it when I plugged in the ipod it would just download the music to het itunes library as they are on the same apple id.  does not seem to be the case....is there an easy way or not?  It is a compaq CQ58 and has all the itunes up to date.

Connect the new iPod to the computer she used to sync with the old iPod. The restore from backup. The apps and music have to be in the iTunes library to be restored to the iPod.
For how to restore see the restoring topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
If the computer does not have her iTunes purchases they can be redownloaded by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HELP- new laptop- how do i transfer my existing tunes onto my new laptop?

    Hi Guys,
I have 800 tunes saved in the Library on my old laptop and have brought a new laptop. I want to transfer my existing tracks onto the new computer. Could someone explain how to do this or point me in the right direction.
    Thanks in advance
    Jen

    It's easy.
I'm assuming you know how to get your two notebooks onto the network, and make them accessible to each other by sharing folders.
Goto old notebook itunes, goto your iTunes settings and check to see where iTunes keeps your music. It could be in your 'My Music'. This is also where iTunes keeps the Library database. Regardless, confirm the location because you will need to SHARE this folder on your network.
Goto NEW notebook itunes. 2 things need to happen here.
    (1) In your iTunes settings, make sure you tell itunes to manage your music (which means it will copy any songs you add to the library to a local central location on your NEW notebook).
    (2) Import your ITUNES Library from OLD notebook. The import command is found in the FILE menu. Remember - you will need to browse over the network to your SHARED Folder sitting on the OLD notebook. Once iTunes imports the library, it should also be copying all the songs over the network to your new notebook. I would highly recommend not doing this over a wireless network.
    Simple.

You don't need to open iTunes on the old computer.
Simply copy the entire /My Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.

  • How do I setup AirPlay in iTunes on my new laptop?

I had my laptop stolen which had about 40 albums saved on Itunes along with Airplay which streamed music to my Denon player.
I now have a new laptop with Itunes installed.  How do I get my Airplay setup again on the new laptop.???

Check out this Apple article -> Using AirPlay
Enabling AirPlay from iTunes on your computer
To stream music or videos from your computer to an Apple TV or AirPort Express:
Connect your computer and Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
    Open iTunes (10.2 or later).
Locate and click the icon in the bottom-right corner of the iTunes application.
Select your Apple TV, AirPort Express, or AirPlay-enabled speakers or receivers from the list of available devices that appears, and begin playback.
Note: The images of a TV screen or speaker next to each AirPlay device in the AirPlay menu indicate the type of media content you can stream to that device.
Do you see the Denon when you click the AirPlay icon in the lower right corner of iTunes?
