How do I transfer camcorder recordings to IMac

I have a Panasonic HD60 camcorder with a SDHC card that is filling up. I wanted to transfer it to my IMac with IM 09 but I understand that this version does not keep the recording as pure as it was in the camcorder. I don't know enough about formats and quality to understand much but I wanted to store whatever I transfer in the cleanest form and later, edit and make DVD's or just have an archive copy. Can someone please help me to know how best to do this? Thanks is advance.

Hi, Stephen -
If these are documents (word processing files, graphic files, spreadsheets, etc.), all you need to do is drag them from the portable drive to the iMac's hard drive.
To do that -
Connect the portable hard drive. It's icon should appear on the desktop after a few seconds. Double-click that icon to open the drive's window.
Locate the file you want on that drive, then click on it and drag it out of that window and onto the desktop, then let go. A copy of it should appear on the desktop.
You can also drop it into the icon for your hard drive if you'd rather the copy appear there.
Repeat as needed to get all the files copied to the iMac.
Note - you can move a group of files, or folders full of files, the same way... drag and drop.
If you have many files to copy, it may be convenient to first make a new folder on the desktop, then use that folder as the target destination for the copies.

How can I transfer photos from my  iMac to my iPad and not lose the ones already stored on the iPad?  When using iTunes to sync a folder from the iMac to the iPad it always removes anything previously synced.
    Help appreciated
    David

I've just found out the reason for this behaviour. I am syncing from a computer which is different to the one I first synced with. iTunes can't cope with this situation so deletes anything synced from another source.

How can I transfer photos from my Imac OS9 to a Macbook Pro OS 10 ?

The easiest way is probably to use a USB flash drive (you may have to test whether it is compatible with the Mac OS 9 iMac).
Somewhat more complicated would be to connect the two computers via Ethernet to (the built-in switch of) a broadband router, and then transfer files over the Internet (or a local network).
There are other methods as well (FireWire, CD-R, et cetera), depending upon the exact computer models involved.

1.Plug your USB cable into the computer and charge/sync cradle, which comes with your phone.
2.Place the iPhone in the cradle. iTunes should start automatically and recognize your iPhone.
3.Click on the iPhone logo in the left navigation pane of iTunes. You’ll be taken to a screen that gives you an overview of your phone and has several tabs along the top of the window, among them, "Contacts."
4.Click on the "Contacts" tab and select which contacts you want synced with your iPhone. You'll need to choose which program you want your contacts synced from. Mac users will want to use "Address Book" or "Entourage." PC users should use "Microsoft Outlook" or "Outlook Express."
5.Click the "Sync" button at the bottom of the "Contacts" pane. Your sync status will be visible in the top middle of the window. Do not remove your iPhone from the cradle until the sync is complete.
6.Eject your iPhone by clicking on the "Eject" button next to your iPhone’s logo in the left margin.
7.Check your contacts on your iPhone. Your new downloaded contacts should be there.

You can copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases - you can then take a backup copy of it, but you won't be able to use it on your Mac as it's not compatible, they are different operating systems (you will need the Mac OS X version to use on it).

  • How do i transfer photos from my imac to my iphone

How do I transfer photos from my iMac to my iPhone?

I've had many Apple Mac computers since 1994, and they have always been excellent pieces of equipment. The original ethic of Apple was intuitive, user-friendly, drag and drop principle. However, the iphone in my opinion has completely departed from this ethic.
Transferring a photo from your phone to a computer should be one of the easiest and most basic functions it can perform. I have a 10 year old push-button Nokia that can bluetooth a photo to any other bluetooth device in an instant.
However, for some reason, best known to Apple, they have now decided to make this process as convoluted as possible. No longer can one perform this simple task by via direct bluetooth link - oh no - you have to sync, and otherwise bugger about for hours trying to get one stupid picture from your phone to the computer.
They say you can email it - but what if one doesn't want email set up on their phone - I get enough email pouring in through my computer without having it spewing out of my phone as well, and even if you did have email set up, how is that better than bluetooth - it's going backwards - that's what we used to have to do before bluetooth.
The poster above - elmac -  illustrates how backwards this all is now, as he spends 'hours of trial and error' figuring all this crap out, and the 'best part of a day resetting his iphone' - these things are supposed to make our lives easier! Who wants to spend a day resetting their stupid phone!
Sorry Apple, your iphone is backwards technolgoy if it can't transfer a photo quickly and easily to another device in seconds without having to play Krypton Factor in order to do so. Even the **** Air Drop doesn't work between IOS and OSX - how massively crap is that.
As soon as my contract is up on this useless fascist slab, it's a Nokia for me, and the iphone will be launched from a vehicle at high speed.

  • How Do I Transfer Files from an IMac CRT with a Broken Screen?

    Hello,
I have an old I Mac DV (dark gray) CRT with all of my old files. When the screen stopped working I bought a new I Mac. The computer turns on but the screen is dark. How can I transfer my old files to the new computer. I also have a portable hard drive with a USB port if needed. Apple phone support does not know how to. They said that my old I Mac does not have firewire and I need to hire a professional. Any advice???
    Thank you and happy holidays.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
iMac DVs do have Firewire. (The DV stands for Digital Video and Firewire is the way of getting digital video into the iMac.)
You can use Firewire Target Disk Mode (link) to use the iMac DV's hard drive on any other Mac.
Did you install Panther (Mac OS 10.3) or Tiger (10.4) on this iMac without updating the firmware? (that's a common cause for a persistant dark screen).
    cheers
