How do I transfer data from my phone back to a new iTunes after losing my HD?

Hi all, my computer got hammered by a power spike and I lost all three hard drives. Gone is not only my iTunes library but the backup on a seperate disk. I've installed new disks and loaded a clean install of iTunes. I turned off auto sync so my data would not be wiped off the iPhone. But please, how dop i get it to transfer what's on my phone back to my iTunes library?
Many thanks in advance.

I've used Migration Assistant in the past and it's working like a champ. You either want to connect your MBPs using a Firewire cable or have them connected to the same router with Ethernet cabling. Don't attempt a wifi transfer - it could take a whole day.
Both links provided are good - they both point to various ways to transfer data. I just prefer MA.

Everything you need to know, right here. Make sure you read through it BEFORE you turn on the new Mac for the first time. This is because the preferred means is using Setup Assistant, which is only available form the first boot.

The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  the only exception is ituens purchases.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • How do i transfer data from my old imac to my new macbook pro?, how do i transfer data from my old imac to my new macbook pro?

HOW DO I TRANSFER DATA FROM MY IMAC TO MY NEW MACBOOK PRO? I tried it with an ethernet cable and it seems to go OK till it gets to applications. From there the time it takes to complete seems to increase rather than decrease!

That's the easiest way, this side of using Time Machine. The time it takes to transfer files between our computers ka vary but while doing it on my MBP I had to leave it plugged in for near 24 hours and it was supposed to take 3.

  • How do I transfer data from my old Mac to  my new Mac?

The display on my Macbook Pro is broken, so I got a new Macbook Air. How do I go about transferring all my data (Word documents and iTunes mainly) from my old laptop to my new one?

You could try using target disk mode from your macbook pro to your macbook air. It basically alows you to see your macbook pro as a harddrive.

Not sure if your pro has thunderbolt, otherwise you may need a thunderbolt to firewire adapter.

  • How do I transfer data from my phone with the bluetooth to my Mac??

    Hey,
I heard from a friend I can send my phonebook/phone data through blue tooth to my Mac.
My phone is currently broken and I don't want to lose the data. I know I can text it through, but I can't with my phone right now-is there a way to set up the blue tooth and like transfer it straight to my Mac,besides texting it?
I've never even used a blue tooth to my phone. So any explanation/steps to do this?
    Thanks.

What is the manufacturer of your phone? Can you look the instructions up in your phone's manual or search the website of your phone's manufacturer? Irregardless, the first thing you need to do is to "pair" your phone with your laptop. Make sure the Bluetooth settings on your phone say that it is "discoverable." Go to System Preferences>Bluetooth, then ensure that the box besides "Discoverable" is checked (if not, click the box so that a checkmark appears). Then click the "+" at the bottom of the left box. A setup assistant will guide you through the remaining steps to pair your phone with your laptop.
I have a BlackBerry Pearl 8100. BlackBerry phone can only send files to Macs, they cannot sync with Macs via Bluetooth. I do not know how to export my phone book to my MacBook Pro, but when I send pictures, I select "send using bluetooth". It then asks which device to send the file to. My MacBook Pro then displays a message that my phone is sending a file and asks if I want to accept that file. I select yes, and the picture is downloaded into the documents stack. Of course, +this paragraph+ is only how my phone connects via Bluetooth to my MacBook Pro. If you have a phone from a different manufacturer, your steps will be different. I only provided this as an example.

  • How can I transfer data from a PowerBook G4 to a new 27" iMac?

I am about to purchase a new 27" iMac and will need to transfer the apps and data to it from an Apple PowerBook G4, running OS 10.4.11 (Tiger).  In the past i've been able to use an Ethernet cable to do the transfer.  I called the Apple retail store in Lynnwood, WA for advice and was told that I would need to attend a series of "one-on-one" sessions to learn how to do this!  Since I live many hours away and must travel via a ferry system, it's obviously impractical to attend these "sessions."
    Any suggestions?

I've done a number of PowerPC ... Powerbook and mini ... conversions to Intel systems. I haven't done this to a Lion system, however, the general guidelines should still work.  Here's two references which have guided me ... this user note: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295 and this thread (see Cornelius's posts): https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2195685?threadID=2195685&tstart=0.
I have used a firewire cable, in order to put the Powerbook into Target Disk Mode, prior to moving things over.
As Joe mentioned, PowerPC apps no longer work in Lion. Check what you have by bringing up system profiler (about this mac, more info), click applications, then 'kind', which sorts the list by code type (PowerPC, Universal, etc). Anything identified as PowerPC will be lost unless you upgrade to a Universal or Intel version.

  • How do I transfer data from a hard drive to my new Imac

    Hello,
First off, I don't know much about computers, so please forgive me if I sound stupid... Anyways, I had a PowerMac G5 that took a dump. The hard drive is still good and so is the info on it. I want to transfer the pictures, itunes library, and word docs to my new Imac. I thought I had this info backed up to EXTERNAL HD, but I think I did it wrong and the info is not there. Is there a way to transfer the info from my old G5 HD to my new Imac. Genius Bar guy already removed my HD from my G5. My G5 will not start up past the grey apple screen. Thanks for any help you can provide.

What Larry means is buy something similar to OWC Neptune 3.5" Oxford 934 FireWire 400 (1394A) Enclosure Kit for SATA Hard Drives up to 1TB. All Cables Included http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/NP35SFW/ and then connect your old hard drive to your new iMac with FireWire 400. Mount the disk and transfer the data.
A good solution for only $48 USD.
