How do I transfer downloaded files from the iTunes account on PC to Mac?
My previous PC runs Windows Vista, on which I downloaded some songs from CDs into iTunes. I just bought a Macbook Pro and want to transfer those audio files. How do I do that?
As a side note, I have already figured out how to transfer the songs that I already purchased from iTunes (by syncing my iPod into the MacBook).

If the rest of the songs are still on the iPod you can transfer those to the MacBook as well. For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc.) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):

You can directly transfer photos and videos via WiFi between the iDevices, PCs, and Macs with an App like Photo Transfer.

Or you can upload the photos and videos to the Dropbox service using the Dropbox App on the iDevice, PC, or Mac and download them to the another device using the Dropbox App on that device. By the way, once the videos are on Dropbox you can share them with others.

How do I transfer a file from a guest account on a MacBook Air?
I'm logged into the guest account of a borrowed MacBook Air which is running OS X Version 10.9.2 and I've been trying to transfer a 2.19GB video file to an admin account, a USB or external hard drive, or online.
1. Transferring the file to the admin account: Apparently if I log out of this guest account, the file will be deleted. So, I tried transferring it to a shared folder, but I can't find/access a shared folder... perhaps because I'm on a guest account? I tried using Terminal and codes I copy-pasted from Google, but they all require the password of the admin account, which the owner can't remember. We've been working together the whole afternoon to try to remember the password, but the owner says he'd be able to guess it if he had the "password hint". Unfortunately, we only know how to view the "password hint" by logging out of the guest account, which we obviously can't do, or else the file will be deleted.
Transferring to the admin account: FAILED
2. Transferring the file to a USB or external hard drive: I've tried both ports with 3 different USB's, and none of them were recognized by the Mac. I've also tried plugging in a WD external hard drive in both ports, but neither recognized the hard drive. All in all, nothing between 3 USB's and 1 external hard drive showed up on the Mac. Could this have anything to do with being logged into a guest account?

3. Uploading online: I've had two tabs open for the past 15 minutes: YouTube and Google Drive. Neither are showing any progress towards the upload. As I'm typing, both currently remain at 0%. I've also tried uploading the file through email, but Yahoo crashes before the upload even begins. In addition to this, I've tried uploading with Filemail.com multiple times. Each time it says it has "problems uploading"

Is there anything I can do? Is there another method I can try? Perhaps theres a way to view the password hint without logging out of the guest account? Is there another way to access the "shared files" folder without needing the admin password? Is there anything that can be done about the USB's and the hard drive that won't show up? It is that aspect of Migration Assistant that I find less than useful. Even from one Mac to another, creating a new (old) account is like sorting through old boxes deciding what to put where. This is why I say MA is really only useful at the very outset where the account it creates is the one you will be using.
Anyway you have a whole lot of content in a different account that you want to move into your main account.
Not the only way, but a good way is to drag the folders of files and photos into your desired main user account, putting them in to the Drop Box ;
Macintosh HD / Users / collies? / Public / Drop Box
Then log into your main account and collect them from the same location.
This method is a bit clunky but it will update the ownership permissions of the moved files to the extant account.
Set up your email in your new account from scratch.

I bought a new laptop, but my iphone is synced with the old laptop's itunes. So, I'm wondering how can i "transfer" my iphone onto new laptop's itunes without losing any apps,... because if I sync my iphone 4 with the new itunes I will lose everything.

Thank yougo to your music folder on the old. copy your music folder. on the new computer. move that folder and replace the music folder thats on the new computer. you have not added anything to the new comp right ? then open itunes. it will update your library to all those files and then run a backup.. hope that helps

Okay, so I did the entire Migrate Assistant process to transfer all my files and what not to my MacBook. Problem is that I did it on seperate occasions and now I have several accounts.

If you had read carefully, Migration Assistant asks what you want to do in this event. That would have precluded the redundancy.
Part of the fundamental design of OS X is to separate user accounts so that one user can't interfere with another. It's not possible to directly merge an account with another, but you can copy whatever you need to the Shared folder - it is in your Users folder.
Log in to one account, prefereably a smaller one, and drag the files and folders into Shared. Log out, log into the account you want to be "primary" and drag the files from Shared into their appropriate locations. When you have copied everything you need delete the redundant account.
Do this for each of them.
Or, you can just run Migration Assistant again and follow the prompts that address the situation you described. It involves creating a secondary, temporary account from which you can administer the transfer. When it is complete you delete the temporary account(s). -

I recently brought a new HP laptop and downloaded iTunes 11 on it. My old laptop which is a Acer has iTunes version 10.7, I believe. I wanted to know, How can I transfer 18 movies from the old iTunes onto my new Itunes? It only shows the most recent two movies when I look at the purchases in my account. you should starting with copying the iTunes folder from your old laptop to the new one.
the iTunes folder is in your user profile Music folder.
it should go to the same location on the new laptop.
Provided that you have your media, music and movies in the default location, and you sign in to your apple ID and authorize your new computer (all in iTunes)
you should have all intact.

What happens when you drag it?
Make sure the drive you are moving the files to has enough available space to receive the file:
Click on the movie file and go to File > Get Info and note the "size"
Check the drive to which you are moving the file to make sure it has enough available space: https://idisk.me.com/madisonfile-Public/web/finder-drive-available-space-and-for mat.html
Also note the format of the drive you are copying too. If it is not Mac OS Extended or FAT (not recommended unless you are taking it to a windows computer) then that may be the issue.

I used to be able to download files from the Harddrive of my Sony Handycam, but now it won't let me import them while going through "log and transfer." I have tried to update my settings, but this doesn't seem to work. Any help would be much appreciated
Hard Drive: The Hard Drive is on my camera (Sony Handycam)
Just needed some info on what is going on with your particular system.
Knowing the exact camera model will also assist us.
If this camera is standard AVCHD you should be able to connect with USB to Mac with FCE open and use Log and Transfer without all the fiddling around converting etc.
What FCE does during ingest is convert files to AIC. (Apple Intermediate Codec)
FCE cannot read the individual files in the BDMV folder, that's why all the converting is required when you use that method.
BTW: regards formatting drives/cards/memory on cameras; it is wise to use the actual device to format rather than a computer. This is a prime cause of read/write goof ups with solid state media. This applies to still or video cameras.
Keeping the COMPLETE card/memory structure in tact is vital for successful transfers.
