How do I transfer music from my iPad 2 to my iTunes library on my computer?

I have tried to transfer music from my iPad 2 to my iTunes library, however a pop-up occurs saying that I cannont transfer some of the purchased items because I am not authorized for them on this computer.  How do I transfer the songs to my iTunes library?  (I have authorized this computer too.)

Try using a third-party utility such as iExplorer - iPhone, iPad Music & File Transfer App for Mac & PC.

  • How do I transfer songs from my iPad to my iTunes library?

How can I transfer songs from my iPad to my iTunes account?  I want to update my iPads but I don't want to lose all the songs that aren't in my iTunes account yet.

Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and you should be able to copy iTunes purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). If any of the music wasn't purchased from iTunes and you don't have it on your computer nor on a backup then you will need to find a third-party program which copy them over - there are some listed half-way down this page.
You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
You can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

  • HT2729 how do i transfer music from my IPhone to my itunes on a different computer?

i want to transfer music from my ipohne 4S to itunes on my computer. How do i do this?

The iphone is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • How can I transfer music from my iPad to my iPhone without using a computer/iTunes?

Disclaimer:  I am actually asking this for a family member, but I don't have an answer for her either.
My family member has an iPad with music on it currently.  This music is music bought from iTunes and music bought from other sources.
Her computer died a few months ago and she does not intend on replacing it.
She just bought an iPhone and would like to copy the music from her iPad to her new iPhone.
I had originally thought that iTunes Match would work for this, but the Apple Support article regarding iTunes Match (iTunes Store: Subscribing to iTunes Match) suggests that it requires a computer w/ iTunes to do the initial update.
I'm willing to consider approaches from either, Apple or third-party.
If it helps, her iPad and iPhone are both running iOS 7.

    The answer is, "you don't".
Music other than that purchased from the iTunes store had to be synced to the device using iTunes on a computer. The media should still exist on that computer. She can use the computer to sync the music to the new device.
An iPad or iPhone is NOT a backup device. In order to set it up to sync to a new computer were she to replace hers, the media on the device would have to be erased before anything could be synced to it. Media synced to the device can not be synced back to a computer (without purchasing 3rd party software). Without a computer and iTunes, it's not possible to transfer media from one iDevice to another, even with 3rd party software.

  • How do I transfer music from my ipod to the itunes library?

I've got some old music on my ipod that I don't have in the itunes of my new computer, how do I transfer all music on my Ipod to the itunes library?

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
For other music yo need a thrid-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • How do I sync music from my iPad into my iTunes library?

So I just got a new Mac, and just recently I decided to use iTunes to download new music into my iPhone and iPad. This Mac has no music in iTunes, and just now I changed my iphone option from sync automatically to "manually manage music and videos." With this, I had to erase all my music off of my iPhone. I still have all my music in my iPad downloaded from a different laptop, so how do I sync that music into my iTunes library to later put into my iPhone?

You need to transfer the music into iTunes first. If the music was purchased from iTunes, you can just download it again for free as long as you use the same ID that you bought it with.
You also need to make this make your syncing Mac. This user tip describes how you can accomplish this. Read it completely before you do anything.

    Hi JRSandner,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you want to download content from the iPod to the computer. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • How can i transfer music from my iphone 4 to itunes library?

A while ago, my computer crashed and wiped out everything. I had to install Itunes. I've had my iPhone 4 for a year, and have many pictures and music on it.
I still haven't updated my phone to version 5.1, and i would like to.. but my computer is saying that i should transfer all my apps, music, etc, so i don't lose it, but i do not know how to do that. HELP!

See https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.  You will read in this article that music on your phone not purchased from iTunes cannot be synced to your iTunes library.  To transfer this music you will have to use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy (or re-rip you CDs with iTunes to import them).

  • How do I transfer music from my iPod to my iTunes library?

I have a new laptop that I just downloaded iTunes on. I plugged in my iPod but can't sync it without deleting everything.
When I first got my iPod I never made an iTunes account because I just used tons of CDs to make my library.
Now I have an iTunes account but I don't know how to transfer my music to the library without just starting over and relying on lots of CDs I don't want to dig up.
    Any help?? Thank you!

If you still have the computer with your original library these are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
As above there are free tools out there...

  • How can I transfer music from my iPod to my iTunes library?

Recently my previous notebook broke so that my whole iTunes library was deleted. Lucky me I have all my songs on my iPod and I didnt have any problems trasferring the songs I bought at iTunes to my iTunes library, but I don't know how to transfer the other songs.
Is there anybody who can help me?

iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer,
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

The Mac OS X version of iTunes can't handle WMA files. Use a product such as Switch to convert them.
No Mac software can play or import WMA files which contain DRM.
