How do I transfer music to laptop without losing it on my iPad?

I want to put the music from my iPad onto my mac air.  But when I go to sync it wants to remove all music. How do I transfer with out losing all music on ipad?

Only music you purchased in iTunes can be moved from your iPad to your Mac.
Music in general goes the other way - from computer to iPad.
If you want to transfer music you purchased in iTunes from your iPad to your Mac, here's how:
Plug your iPad into iTunes, don't let it sync, then from iTunes' menu on your computer, do File > Devices > [your iPad] > Transfer Purchases

I'm wanting to sync my ipod to itunes without losing any info that is currently on it. An internet search has shown differnt programs but they are not free. Can anyone help me?

For the music, you can transfer your music from your old computer to your new computer using an external HHD, once the music are in your new computer, open up itunes and add your music folder to the itunes library, do the same with videos.
For your apps, log into your your itunes account and there you will find your "purchased" apps list. Cilck on purchase to see the list and download them again back to your computer.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • How can i transfer films from laptop to itunes and then to ipad?

is it possible to upload films from my laptop to my ipad (via itunes) without having to buy/download them from the istore?

Just drag the videos into the iTunes window or choose File > Add to Library, locate a file or folder, and click Open.
The video has to be in a format that is compatiple with iTunes. If you wish to add it to your iPad it needs to be in an iPad compatible format also.
All mobile devices which iTunes can sync video to can play the following video formats:
    H.264
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
Video: Up to 768 kbits/sec, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, and stereo audio.
    MPEG-4
File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov
    Video: Up to 2.5 Mbits/sec, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile.
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, stereo audio.
    iTunes:
Video content purchased from the iTunes Store.
QuickTime and MPEG-4 movie files that end in ".mov", ".m4v", or ".mp4" and are playable in QuickTime Player.
    Video podcasts.
    iTunes Digital Copies.
iTunes Store Movie Rentals (Requires iTunes 9 or later).
    Mobile Devices:
Video content purchased from the iTunes Store.
Videos that have been shared to iTunes using QuickTime Player (Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard).
Videos that have been re-encoded for iPod with QuickTime 7 Pro.
Videos that have been re-encoded for iPod with iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and others. Refer to Exporting a movie from iMovie HD to iPod for an iMovie HD tutorial.
Video Podcasts that have been created for mobile devices.
Video files after using the iTunes File > Create New Version > Create iPod or iPhone version option.
Video files after using the iTunes File > Create New Version > Create iPad or AppleTV version option (iPad and AppleTV only).

  • How do I transfer all my files without losing information?

Recently my computer crashed and I got a new one a month later. Previously, I had copied all my iTunes libraries and iPhone back ups to a hard drive but after getting a new computer, that hard drive wouldn't allow me to open it without formatting so I lost all my back ups.
Is there a way for me to connect my iPhone to a new computer and transfer things like pictures, apps, contacts etc.? If I do, will I lose the things I got in between the last back up and now? I have an iPhone edge if it helps?

What is an iPhone edge? I never heard of such a thing?
You can configure iTunes on the computer to not sync automatically. Do that first! Add at least one dummy contact and calendar entry to whatever program(s) you're going to sync those categories to. When you plug the phone in, you should be able to access it as a camera to retrieve photos. You can then 'transfer purchases' within itunes to get any items you've purchased on the phone into iTunes on the computer.
Any media that was not purchased on the phone itself is not transferable to the computer via iTunes. Sync is one way. The first time you sync, you will be warned that media on the phone will be deleted.
When contacts sync, you should be given the option of merging the data on the computer and the phone provided you have at least one entry on the computer already.

  • How do I transfer music from my ipod or macbook pro (itunes) to my ipad

How do you transfer music from my macbook pro to someone's Ipad?

This doesn't appear to be an option anymore.
I can check songs but there's no transfer button -
Syncing doesn't transfer songs in that direction -
You can add to a playlist but the song still isn't there.

  • How can I transfer music from my old iphone 4 to the new iphone 5S without having the music synced to my laptop (e.g. my itunes library is empty)?

How can I transfer music from my old iphone 4 to the new iphone 5S without having the music on the old phone synced to my laptop (e.g. my itunes library on the laptop is empty) ?
I tried the "Transfer Purchases" option - however this only worked for apps - not sure if I'm missing some sort of setting.
I do not want to use iCloud as I do not have enough space for my music.
    Thanks!

You cannot. The music must be in the iTunes library first. See these User Tips:
Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device

How do I transfer music off my iphone onto itunes on a new mac. I don't have the laptop I originally synced my iphone up with any more, so how can I do this without it?
I have tried to do this through home sharing but as I don't have the old laptop it wont let me.
    Any HELP please?!?
    Would be much appreciated.

The iphone is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Have you failed to do this?
