How do I transfer my address book/contacts from my computer to my ipad?
I recently purchased an iPad 1st generation, so I am in the learning mode. I want to have my adress book contacts on my Macbook Pro, available to me on my iPad. How do I go about this? Thank you
On your Macbook Pro, go to "system preferences", click "icloud" and then check the box for "contacts". Then on your iPad, go to "settings", click "icloud" and make sure that the "contacts" option is "on". That should work.

Can I transfer my address book/contacts from a laptop with windows vista to my iPad mini?
To sync from windows things like Contacts, Calendars, and Mail you would need to have Outlook on the computer 2003, 2007, or 2010. This article might help you out if your setting it up for the first time. Hope it helps.

Got new ipad for xmess can't figure out how to trasfer all my favorites/bookmarks from my dell computer to my ipad any help would be appreciated it would take me a mounth of sundays to transfer them all one at a time by typing them in.
To start, download iTunes 11.0.1 onto your computer. Connect your iPad to the computer, run iTunes and learn how to sync with your computer.
There is a link already in place in Safari on your iPad that will take you to the manual. Check out setting up your iPad, syncing and transferring your stuff in the manual. -
I recently forwarded my e-mail from my local provider to g-mail. How do I transfer my address book contacts to g-mail contacts. Or how do I use MacMail with a g-mail account?
Add the Gmail account to Mail/Preferences/Accounts. Click the + sign at the bottom left and add it.
Try another browser as a test.

If you want to upgrade the OS, the following applies.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

My iPhone is stolen. How can I get my address book back from the iCloud? I should have synchronized my iPad address book. However, I loss some recent contacts from iPhone.
I use my iPad to get the address book backed up by iCloud from my iPhone. However, I cannot see the recent new contacts from my iPad. Is there anyway to check the iCloud server to see if my address book backup from my iPhone is still there?

Authorize your new computer's iTunes first - Store>Authorize this computer.
1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.

Why does Lion KEEP reversing changes you make in address book and other applications without your consent and without wanting it to??? Plus address book will NOT import old address book contacts from Snow Lepoard 10.6 and keep them. This Lion OXS 7 is .. becoming very frustrating ... it will NOT keep changes made in the Address Book and it has destroyed my contacts which I only have electronically since 10.4 in my address book. I am NOT happy with this OS7 it has a lot of issues and faults. How can one stop automatic reversing of data when inputting???
Please help!
Wished I NEVER upgraded to this Lion!!!
CarmeloRelax. Your address book database is corrupted.
If you are syncing your Contacts with MobileMe or something else, disable it for now.
Backup your address book by going to File>Export>Address Book Archive.
Quit Address Book.
Open your Library by holding down the Option (alt) key while selecting the Go menu in Finder. Select Library. Navigate into your Application Support/AddressBook folder and delete the addressbook-v22.abcddb file.
Open Address Book. It will recreate the database from the raw data.
See how that works. If it is ok, then reenable syncing and see how that works. -
How do I transfer all of my contacts from iCloud to Outlook ?
Forgive my ignorance, I am a noob... For my work, I use both an iPhone and a Balckberry, which I sync with Outlook. How do I transfer all of my contacts from my iPhone / iCloud to Microsoft Outlook so that I can put them on my Blackberry as well ? Thank you for your response, even though this may have been covered before.
Back up your Outlook Contacts first. (Select all and drag them to an empty folder).
Back up your iPhone Contacts. (Use an app from App Store like "Multi Edit" or search for "Contacts Backup".
Download and install "iCloud Control Panel for Windows".
Sign in with your Apple ID.
Sync Contacts with Outlook
The iPhone and Outlook Contacts will be MERGE.
After you sync BB with Outlook you will have ALL of your Contacts on both devices and Outlook. -

I live on a boat in an anchorage. My iPad won't connect to the wifi in the anchorage; my MacBook Pro, with an external radio, will make the connection (sometimes). I want to purchase a couple of apps from the App Store and download them to my computer. I won't be able to connect the iPad to the Internet--ever--but I can of course connect it via USB to the MacBook Pro. Can I
- purchase the apps from the App store
- download the apps to my MacBook Pro
- disconnect the MacBook from the Internet (it costs about $1 per minute for my connection)
- sync the iPad to the MacBook
- transfer the newly purchased apps from the computer to the iPad
Just a reminder--I _can't_ connect the iPad, ever, to the Internet. The signal just won't reach that far. I don't want to take either the computer or the iPad on a (wet) dinghy ride to try to get close enough to the wifi hotspot for the iPad to connect (maybe). Both the iPad and the MacBook Pro are registered to the same ITunes account, but there isn't any way to connect the iPad to iTunes central for their servers to confirm this--only the MacBook Pro can be connected.
I also don't want to erase any info on the iPad--I have waypoints, navigation info, documents, etc., stored in various apps. Do I have to sync first to avoid losing this data? (Hope it's not cloudy tomorrow and those solar panels will be pulling some amps!)
Thanks,
Sue
PS--I have OS 10.6.8 and iTunes 11.0.1 on the MacBook; iOS 6.0.1 on the iPad.Yes, you should be able to buy/download apps from the iTunes app store on your Mac and then sync them to the iPad - neither the iPad nor the Mac should need to be connected to the internet to sync the apps over to the iPad
If the iPad hasn't been synced to that computer before then you may find this page useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 -
When I purchased my iphone 4S, I had all my old phone's information transfer over to my new phone.
I organized my address book on my mac powerbook and then hoped to sync my computer's address book to my phone - in hopes of erasing all the junky contacts on my iphone and only having the my address book contacts on my phone.
I did all I could trying to make this happen (through iTunes) but it hasn't erased/replaced all of the contacts on my phone - I believe since my phone is synced to icloud. So I'm stuck with a very unorgaized contacts list on my phone...
How can I make it so I only have the contacts from my address book on my phone?
Thanks in advance,
SuzanneAlso, I just noticed that syncing my phone effected my calendar in that all my events now repeat. So instead of having one event schedule on a day, I have two of the same events scheduled for the same time.
It seems as if I can't sync my phone to my computer through iTunes and iCloud.
Help???

How do I transfer an address book from one computer to another?
I'm trying to transfer an address book from my G4 to my Imac G5 and can't seem to figure out how to do it. I've tried exporting out of one, but the other doesn't read it. These computers are not connected so I'm transferring via cd.
Thanks,
Dick SkoverHi Dick
If they are both running Tiger
Use "Backup Address Book" in Address Book > File to make a copy then
"Revert to Address Book Backup" on the iMac
I use this for backing up both Address Book and iCal as a matter of course (it is the Apple recommended way in the Help files) I put them into a folder in my "Documents" and clear old copies once a month. If you use .Mac I would certainly recommend it seeing the problems with data loss some folks have had.

How to create a duplicate address book contact?
This seems so simple yet I cannot determine how to create a new duplicate address book contact. I have a few contacts from the same company and want to change the variable data instead of re entering the data
I can create a new contact, copy the data of the record I want to duplicate yet when I paste the info into the new record - address book puts everything into one field.
Why not a duplicate contact command?
GRRRRRich,
According to Address Book Help:
To duplicate an address card:
Select an address card.
Choose Edit > Copy, and then choose Edit > Paste.
Works for me
