i just got a new ipod touch 4G and i had the ipod touch 3G and i'm having trouble transfering my ipod 3G data to my new one. would anyone know how? i regerstered my 3G ipod touch at the library and i wanted to know if i can do it at home on my laptop since it has itunes already. so if anyone could help me that would be real appreacited! thank you

- If you previously synced the 3G to a computer other than the laptop you have to copy/move the iPod backup file to the laptop. The backup is located here:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
If you have a backup on the laptop form ether moving/copying it there or you synced the 3G to the laptop, connect the 4G o the laptop and restore the 4G from that backup.
- If you do not have a backup, you will not be able to get the 3G app data to the 4G. Just sync the stuff that is now in the iTunes library on the laptop.

Sync the old one, and get a full back up stored. Make sure you transfer your purchases to I tunes, and make sure you upload any photos taken on the pad, or imported thru the cck.
Then plug the new pad in, and set it up from the backup of the old one. In theory, all the stuff that was in the back up will migrate to the new pad. If apps, music or books get lost, you can redownload them for free, using the same appLe id.

As posted before, if your data is in a PIM (e.g., Outlook) on your PC, then you can synch with that. Otherwise, you must use that backup file you created earlier. Here's a procedure:

How can I transfer specific date from my old hard drive to a new one?

I'm planning on buying the OWC Data Doubler and installing an additional drive [240GB OWC SSD]. I want to transfer everything except my iTunes library to the SSD so that it will run faster. I can't transfer the iTunes library because it's too big. How can I transfer just the data I want [OS, Documents, etc.] but leave the iTunes library on the drive. I do have an external drive/time machine backup available.

My old hard drive started to crash, it was on it's way out and making funny noises. I have brought a new hard drive and connected it to the same leeds as the old one. I have put the opperating system on to the new hard drive and it is all up and running..... but.
I want to transfer all my old applications like garage sale and limewire without having to pay for them again and transfer all my music and photos from the old hard drive to the new.
So:
1: How do i get the old hard drive out of the position it's in it seems glued in and i can't see any screws?
2: How do i connect both hard drives and transfer everything from the old to the new? Do i need to buy another set of leeds or should they be in the computer

You should be able to have both drives installed at the same time in the rear U shaped bracket. One needs to be mounted in the bottom of the bracket, have it's jumpers set to master and be connected to the end connector of the ribbon cable. The other needs to mounted above it, have it's jumpers set to slave and be connected to the middle connector of the ribbon cable. The computer should have the leads to do this, i.e. one ribbon cable with two connectors and two molex power connectors. With both drives installed, you can then drag your music and photos etc from the old to the new. You could try dragging the applications, although if they install additional files elsewhere they'll need to be reinstalled from the original CDs or DVDs.
The old drive may be screwed into the U shaped bracket from below. There should be a single screw which secures the bracket to the chassis at the front, although it may be hidden under the ribbon cable. If you unplug the ribbon cable and undo the single screw you can remove the bracket still containing the old drive, by sliding it forwards and lifting it up at the front. The screws securing the drive to the bracket can then be undone from beneath.

You're gonna have to start over if you want to use the backup of your 3GS to restore to your iPhone 4. So, in iTunes>Preferences(under the edit menu if using Windows)>Devices...delete any and all backups listed for your iPhone 4(there should only be one). Then, on your iPhone 4: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. That should take but a minute or so, then plug your phone in, iTunes running, name it what you want & restore it from your 3GS backup. Follow this by syncing your iTunes content back to your phone.

If you have a computer with the current version of iTunes you can connect your iPhone 4s to your computer via the USB charging cable. You would then Sync / Backup your iPhone 4s to that computer via iTunes. Do you already have Time Machine making backups onto the 2TB drive? If so, after you get the internal drive replaced, boot up into the recovery partition (hold down ⌘R) and restore the latest Time Machine backup that you have onto the new internal drive.
I recommend always having two backups. I'd use SuperDuper to make a complete clone of your internal drive onto an external drive in addition to having the Time Machine backup.
Boot Camp is what is used to make partitions for Windows. How much space to allocate depends on how much space you expect Windows to use up based on how you plan to use it.

You need to sync the data from your old iPhone, to the computer via iTunes. Once the data is on the computer, you then need to sync it to the new iPhone, also via iTunes.
