You cannot transfer anything from a device which you do not have, because you do not have it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:

I am running iTunes on Windows Vista with music, videos. This is paired to a 3GS which has many contacts on it. The iPhone is regularly synced and backed up.
I have just bought a new MacBook Pro and want to transfer my entire iTunes system over. I see that I can transfer the music library over with Home Sharing. I want to ensure, however, that when I sync my iPhone with my NEW MacBook Pro, that all the data is retained. I am most concerned with losing the contacts on the phone.
Does anybody know how I can do this? I just want to wholesale copy the iTunes environment onto my new machine, I guess.

Contacts (and Calendars) are not part of iTunes. iTunes is simply used to sync them from whatever apps you are using.
This is for Mac OS 10.4 but it will work for whatever you are now running.

I have an ipod classic and I would like to transfer all my library store in my ipod to my new Pc. I read the instructions,but my itunes are different from the mac itunes I have the latest 10.63 and I'm not understanding what to do. My entire library is on the ipod and I hate to loose it.

1. In Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > View. In the Advanced Settings list, under Hidden files and folders, check the radio button for “Show hidden files and folders”. Then click OK. You’ll get a Windows security warning but it’s safe enough to disregard it as we will only be disabling this function for a short while.
2. Plug in your iPod. In Windows Explorer, a folder will now appear with the name of your iPod.
Double-click on that. Go to the sub-folders “iPod_Control” and then “music”. You’ll find your music there randomly scattered across multiple folders and with scrambled file names. But don’t worry, the ID3 tags are still fully intact and we are now going to “unscramble” the files.
3. But first copy all the music from those iPod folders into a new folder on your hard-drive. Move all the songs into one single folder and discard all the folders that your iPod made. By the end, you should have one folder in your hard-drive with all the scrambled files together.
4. Open up iTunes and do the following : Go to Edit > Preferences. Under the Advanced tab, under the General “sub-tab”, select the local folder where you have copied the music from your iPod (by clicking Change…).
Check the box “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” and click OK. Also make sure you have wiped all previous music from iTunes so your playlists are blank.
5. In iTunes, click “File” then “add folder to library”. Select the folder where all your copied music is. iTunes will now re-import all your music back into the playlists. But more importantly, because you have previously clicked “Keep iTunes Music Folder organised”, iTunes will now start renaming and organising your songs into their correct names, albums and folders. This may take a while depending on how many songs you have in your iTunes library.

Last night I opened up my Itunes to add more music to my iPod, only to find that it somehow deleted almost all the music from my library and even managed to add in a free U2 album. (???) The music is still in my Itunes Media folder, and thankfully all my songs and playlists are still on the Ipod itself, as it didn't automatically sync with my Itunes. However, for some reason I cannot access the Itunes library I directly had before this one-- only libraries that I had months from now.
Is there any way that I can transfer all the songs from my Itunes, including the playlists and song "play count" (both of which are very important to me), directly from my Ipod to my Itunes? Or simply replace all the info on my current Itunes library with the one on my Ipod?

I saved all my music to an external hard drive so that it could be moved to my new PC. All my song titles are showing up on the new PC, but whenever I try to play something, it says the file cannot be found. If I plug the HD in, it will play the music. As soon as I unplug the HD, I can no longer play anything. My music library includes both items purchased from iTunes and music I added from CDs I own. Please advise. Thanks!

you moved your music to an E-HD and connect it to a new computer
ahdn when you play something it will only play when the e-hd is connected ?
if so yeah sure thats the whole point
if you want it on the new computer first copy the music to the new computers hd
and then add it to itunes
some of us wish to move our media to NAS's to save storage on our computers
so if itunes would force the media added to the local hd of the computer we would become very upset
though itunes does have settings to auto move added media to the local hd

Connect the iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S), and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side to select which of your music to sync to the iPad's Music app
