How do I transfer my music to another computer?

How do I transfer my music from my ipod nano to another computer; keep getting message "ipod is synced with another iTunes library. An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time."?

You cannot transfer music from an iPod directly in iTunes, you would have to use a third party application.
As for the message, it's because you have it set to automatically sync whatever's in the library. You'd want to check "Manually manage music and videos" under the Device tab.

  • How do I transfer my music to another computer and keep ratings

Is there a way to transfer my library from windows machine to windows machine and keep the ratings, play count, play history, etc the same?
    Thank you

Well getting the library on both places is fairly easy. Hook up both computer together with a Firewire cable assuming they are both Macs. Boot one while holding down the T key which should put it in Target mode. Boot the other and the Target mode computer's hard drive will show up on the other computer's desktop as an external drive.
Now you can copy the iTunes folder from the desktop to the Laptop's drive overwriting (assuming nothing is in the one you are overwriting you need to keep).
Later when you run the laptop's iTunes, the library should show up the same as on the desktop.

  • My iTunes library is constructed entirely of uploaded music cds. How can I transfer this music to another mac

My iTunes library is constructed entirely of uploaded music cds. How can I transfer this music to another mac (I'm replacing current macbook)? Eventually, I will begin using itunes to download / purchase music. Do i need to transfer original library before updating itunes library on the cloud? What's order of operations?

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

How do I added my music to another computer thats not my home computer???

Are you wanting to add music to an iTunes library on another computer?  That shouldn't be a problem.  Just import it or rip the same way you would on your iTunes library on your home PC.
Or are you wanting to extract content from the iPod into this new/different iTunes library?  If so, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 on different ways to extact the media on your iPod and back into iTunes.

  • How can I transfer the music from my computer to my iphone

How can I transfer the music from my computer to my iphone?
How can I detele the items that i have already added?

    Via the iTunes sync process.
And deleting music from your iPhone can be done the same way or if your iPhone 4 is running iOS 5, you can delete songs direct from the iPhone one at a time.

  • How do I share my music with another computer

I need to transfer my music to another computer.  Isn't this what homesharing is?  I have it turned on both computers but nothing happens.  Help!!

Nothing happens automatically. You either can stream content from the other computer, or you select the other computer's library under Home Shares and copy the content from that computer to the one you're using. See the Home Sharing section in this article:

  • How do I transfer my library to another computer

I have a new laptop and want to move my library over to the new laptop.  How can I do that?

    Hello Jeff,
Congratulations on your new laptop!  The article below outlines several methods to transfer your music from your previous computer to your new computer.
Home Sharing is the easiest way to transfer your music from one computer to another, but I recommend reviewing the options available in the table to decide which method would work best for you:
The following table compares the methods to move music from your old computer to your new computer.
    Method
    Considerations
    Home Sharing
The easiest option, as long as your new computer is already connected to the Internet.
    External drive
Requires additional hardware but backs up your iTunes library.
    Transferring purchases
Fastest, but only moves the content you purchased from the iTunes Store. Also requires an iPhone, iPad, or iPod with the content on it.
    Windows Migration Assistant
Works best for migrating from an old PC to a new Mac, and transfers more than iTunes.
You can find the steps for each of these methods in the following article:

I'm having a new Mac soon to replace the current windows computer now. I have been syncing my iPad with this computer and wonder if I can transfer my iPad Backup to the new Mac so I can sync my ipad with it. Anyone has an idea?

This article is pretty easy to follow and contains the steps needed to transfer your iPad content to the new computer.

    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • My computer crashed how do i transfer my music to new computer itunes

You can only transfer purchased music from an I Pod.  When in I tunes go to files, and click transferring purchases.  All other music is lost.

  • How do I download my music onto another computer, when I no longer have the music on another computer, ipod, or any other storage device?

Just as it says: How can I download music again that I have already bought and downloaded once on another computer?
I no longer have the music on another computer (I no longer have the original computer) and the only other place I put the music was my Ipod that I lost. (Im sure its somewhere in my house, but can't seem to find it)

Whether you can re-download your past music purchases will depend upon what country that you are in. On the iTunes store home page on your computer there should be a Puchased option under Quick Links on the right-hand side of it - go into that and see if music is an option for re-downloading

  • How do i transfer my edits to another computer

i have transferred my music by copying and pasting the entire itunes folder onto the hard drive of another computer and importing it into itunes there
how do i transfer the edits in comments and groupings, playlists, ratings, etc
or is there another way to pick up all the songs and tranfer them with edits ?

First, when you say "Store" you mean the "Store" option on the menu bar not the iTunes Store in the source menu. And if you want to transfer music from computer to computer its harder than just authorising the new computer. You have to transfer the files manually. I do hope you have an external HDD or a FireWire 400 cable (if you have two Macs). Basically copy and paste the iTunes folder (not the iTunes Music folder) onto the external HDD and from the HDD to the other computer. If its a Mac make sure that its in the Music folder. Open iTunes with the option key down and click Choose Library. Navigate to the Music folder and select the iTunes folder.
