How do I transfer ONE photo album & nothing else?

I want to download one photo album from iPhoto without losing the music & videos I already have in my iPod. I don't want to touch anything else, just download ONE album, but it seems that my iPod will automatically (even tho I have chosen manual controls) take everything out of my iPod & replace it with my iTunes Library - which has changed. Do I have to have my iTunes Library & video library as I want it in my iTunes - which would take some amount of work! Really appreciate help here.

A while ago, I tried to sync my computer and iPad, and all the 1200 photos on my computer got synced over to my iPad as teeny weeny photos with blurred images, and the photos on my computer which were fine before, also changed to teeny weeny images. I was not happy. After weeks of recreating the photos on my computer, I decided to try again, and the same thing happened, but this time I stopped the sync before it could change too many photos on my computer. No, Target Mode will not work for you. At least, it will not work well.
I had misunderstood your problem. You had your laptop on vacation and you used it to temporarily store your vacation pictures as you were taking them. Correct?
Since everything is all in one album, the solution is actually quite simple. From inside iPhoto, open the album on the laptop and do a CMD-A to "Select All." Drag them to your Sandisk.
Go to the desktop computer and do a "File > Import to Library" to import the photos into the library. They'll all be in "Last Roll." Manually create the album and drag them all into the library.
WARNING - If you've modified the photos on the laptop, you might wish to "Revert to Original" before you do all of the above. Otherwise, the modified versions will be considered as "originals" on the desktop computer.

A couple of comments:
1) Since the release of Mavericks (OS X 10.9) contacts (and calendars) are no longer synced via connecting to a Mac. It used to be a part of a sync via iTunes but that is no longer the case. Contacts and calendars are now synced with a Mac via iCloud. http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
2) Photo transfer from the phone to a Mac is not and has not previously been part of a sync and does not involve iTunes. That is an import: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 and can either use iPhoto or Image Capture. One of them can be set to open automatically if your Mac is recognizing that a phone or camera has been attached. Is that not happening?
3) I can't tell from your post whether the issue is that either a) the Mac, iTunes, or both is simply not recognizing that you have connected your phone or b) the Mac recognizes it but an iTunes sync doesn't automatically start. If you start iTunes manually with the phone connected, does iTunes recognize it then?

Sounds like you are a Windows user or if you are a Mac user, you are manually managing photo storage on your computer without using a photo management application like iPhoto.
Create a parent folder which will contain the separate albums or folders of photos only that you want transferred to your iPad. Select the parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes.
To remove an entire album or folder of photos from your iPad, move the album or folder of photos out of the parent folder on your computer's hard drive followed by a sync. To remove an individual photo from your iPad without removing the entire album or folder of photos, move the photo from the album or folder of photos on your computer followed by a sync. To add another album or folder of photos to your iPad, place the album or folder of photos in the parent folder followed by a sync.

Yes and it's very easy to do once you know what to do.
Place all of the photo albums that you want to transfer to the iPad into one main photos album on your PC. When your iPad is connected to your computer's iTunes and after you have selected the iPad under Devices, click on the Photos tab and in the Sync Photos from heading - select that main photos album that you place all of your other photos folders into - select each album that you want to sync - and then click on Apply in the lower right corner to sync the photos to the iPad.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Selecting photo's & simply dragging them to your desktop is the easiest way.
You can also select the photo or photos to export wich will give you some size options (small, medium, large)

Are you asking about transfering iPhoto Libraries from one Mac to another Mac? Or about transferring iPhoto albums from an IOS device to a computer? And what is your iPhoto version?
If you are talking about your Mac, simply transfer the iPhoto Library to the new computer. You can copy it using the network, by copying to a portable disk, or by connecting your old mac to the new mac in target disk mode. After copying the iPhoto Library to your Home folder on the new mac, double click it to open it in iPhoto and to point iPhoto to it.
If you are asking about transfering albums from an IOS device; the albums you create on your IOS device are not synced back to your computer. You share the photos by adding them to the Photo Stream, creating shared Photo streams, sending them by email, or publishing web journals.

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :

2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing. Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:

I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not. You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing. As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos. I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special. Any way - search around to find answers.
