You can go into your pictures folder in your user folder on your old computer and copy the iPhoto Library file (should be fairly large) either directly to the new computer or to an external drive.  Copy the old iPhoto Library over to the new pictures folder on your new computer.  The old iPhoto Library should overwrite the iPhoto Library on your new machine.  When you fire up iPhoto on your new machine, everything should be there in the same form as it was on your old machine.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

this should help, use photo stream to do this
After your devices are using the appropriate software and you have set up your iCloud account, it’s easy to turn on Shared Photo Streams on any of your devices:
iOS devices: Go to Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream, then turn on Shared Photo Streams.
Mac: Go to System Preferences > iCloud, then select the checkbox for Photo Stream. Click the Options button to verify that the Shared Photo Streams checkbox is selected. Open the application you want to use with Photo Stream (iPhoto or Aperture) and confirm that Shared Photo Streams is turned on in that application. You can also adjust your Photo Stream settings in iPhoto or Aperture Preferences.
PC: Open the iCloud Control Panel for Windows and select the checkbox for Photo Stream. You can click the Options button to verify that Shared Photo Streams is enabled and adjust the settings. Be sure to click Apply when done.

For a few photos, you can select them in the iPhoto library then drag and drop them to the USB key. This is a copy, so the originals will remain in iPhoto.
To move the whole library, use the procedure described here:

Plug the iPad into your computer using the USB cable and then use whatever app your computer has for downloading images from a digital camera. When the iPad is connected, the computer will see the camera roll as a digital camera. I'm not a PC person, so I can't tell you which app to use on the computer, sorry.

How can I transfer photos from my Imac OS9 to a Macbook Pro OS 10 ?

The easiest way is probably to use a USB flash drive (you may have to test whether it is compatible with the Mac OS 9 iMac).
Somewhat more complicated would be to connect the two computers via Ethernet to (the built-in switch of) a broadband router, and then transfer files over the Internet (or a local network).
There are other methods as well (FireWire, CD-R, et cetera), depending upon the exact computer models involved.

how do i transfer photos from my iphone4s to a folder of my choosing on my mac mini? i notice that iphoto automatically backs up my pic/videos when i sync, but i'd like to create a sparate folder of my pics in documents too. any ideas?

To copy/move photos from you iPhone to a directory:-
    1.  Plug iPhone through lead into the USB port of your Mac.
    2.  Select Applications folder.
    3.  Select Image Capture in the Applications Folder.
It is all pretty easy from there to select photo, destination (e.g. desktop) and copy/move.

How do i Transfer photos from my ipad to SD Card using the Ipad photo kit

I don't think you can directly transfer pictures from your iPad to an SD card using the photo kit.  If you have Windows PC  (with USB port), connect it to you iPad using the Apple Dock Connector to USB Cable. After connecting, open Windows Explorer on your PC and you'll notice that one of the icons is your iPad (as an external drive).  Click on the iPad icon, then Internal Storage, then DCIM. Once you open the DCIM folder, youll see a bunch of folders in it (just like the one below) - that's were your pictures are stored. You can copy and paste these folders (or the files inside them) to you PC or if your PC has an SD Card slot (with card in it), you can copy them there as well.
