How do I transfer pictures back to Macbook?

I just had my MacBook returned after a faulty harddrive and all documents were saved in 1 file-Pictures, Videos, Music etc. However, my iLife was not installed anymore and I had to reinstall. When it was done it said it couldn't be opened as it was an old version and asked me to install updates which I did. Now I can't import the photos that were saved before my hard drive was repaired as it says they're not compatible.
I seem to have them all on my iPad under 'events' but when I plug my iPad in I can't find this option to transfer them back into the library. Is there anyway I can do it?
I haven't updated to the new iOS 7 yet as I need to actually remove all the photos to create more space!

Best if you try and explain what you are trying to acheive.
Iphoto is a different paradigm than you're used to. I don't understand why you are trying to transfer your edited photos back to an external disk.
There are tutorials here

If you are on iTunes 11 on your Mac then you may want to re-enable the left-hand sidebar via View > Show Sidebar, which might make it easier to navigate and may instructions may make more sense.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes (if you've enabled the sidebar), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you haven't enabled the sidebar, then from your library click 'iPad' at the top right of the screen and you should get a series of buttons along the top of the screen, including one for Photos

  • How do I transfer pictures BACK to my camera

I am using an iMac macintel, and wish to transfer pictures back to my camera. How do I do this? Is it possible. I've done it before in an earlier version of iPhoto.

Then the same way you did before?
Does your Camera show on the desktop? If son, export the pics from iPhoto (File -> Export) and then drag them to the icon for your camera.
If you have a Canon camera, or some Kodaks, then you'll need to get a USB card reader, pop the camera card into it and then it will show on the desktop.

What gives you the right to be so rude and nasty to posters on here? If you find the content of people's posts so frustrating and annoying, why do you come on here? How do you transfer pictures taken on my droid incredible to my MacBook Pro? When I plug the phone into the computer using the usb port I get a message saying--"The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Any help would be apppreciated.

Is the phone set to be used as a Mas Storage Device? Check the phone settings. If it is then the SD card should read as a FAT32 device and any computer that can read FAT32 formatted drives. which all computers I know about, will be able to read the files on it.

For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

how can i transfer picture from old iPod to my computer

Are these pictures on your iPod no longer stored on your PC or in a backup somewhere?  If so, you'll need the help of third party software to assist you with the task of extracting the photos from your iPod to your PC.  Keep in mind that these synced photos are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnails of the original.
If you stored these photos in full resolution, see this article for instructions on copying them from your iPod back to your PC.

How do I transfer photos from my MacBook Pro to my iMac?

You can go into your pictures folder in your user folder on your old computer and copy the iPhoto Library file (should be fairly large) either directly to the new computer or to an external drive.  Copy the old iPhoto Library over to the new pictures folder on your new computer.  The old iPhoto Library should overwrite the iPhoto Library on your new machine.  When you fire up iPhoto on your new machine, everything should be there in the same form as it was on your old machine.
