How do I transfer songs I bought on my Ipod to my itunes library?

I've managed to be able to transfer songs to my Ipod.  However, I've bought a song on my Ipod and I cannot figure out how to transfer the songs into my itunes library from the ipod.  There used to be a menu/button for this.  Any help? Btw, I have it set to manual sync and do not subscribe to cloud.

Thank you! I wish I had known before that "file" was hidden.

  • How do I transfer music and stuff from my ipod onto my itunes library on my new laptop?

I got a new laptop and i plugged my ipod in and everything was okay but the music that is on my ipod is not in my itunes library it is just in the drop down music menu when my ipod is plugged up to my laptop. So, i hit sync and it said either transfer purchases or erase and sync.well i definitely do not want to erase the 500 songs i have on my ipod so i hit transfer and it said that it was unable to transfer because my ipod is not authorized with the computer. so i hit authorize and it asks me to log in and so when i type in my email and password and then hit authorize it just takes me back to the login screen with a really weird random email in and no password. I tried doing this many and just takes me back to the same page. I need to know how to get my music from my ipod onto my itunes library without losing any music. Please and thank you for any help that you can offer.

  • How do I transfer the purchased items on my iPhone to my iTunes library?

When I connect my iPhone to my computer, I get the message that a newer version of iPhone software is available. However, when I click on the link to download and install the software, I get the message "There are purchased items on the iPhone that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPhone." How do I transfer the purchased items on my iPhone to my iTunes library?

You may need to enable the Menu Bar.
In the upper right hand corner, there should be a small box, half dark colored and half light, with a small arrow next to it. Click there, and choose "Show Menu Bar" from the resulting menu. At that point, you should be able to select File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, as explained by roaminggnome.
A second option you have is to show the sidebar by going to View > Show Sidebar. After this is done, right click on your device in the sidebar, and "Transfer Purchases" should be an option.

Use the backup of the old computer and copy the iTunes files to the new one.
However, since you are writing here, you probably didn't have a backup, so check out this user provided support document https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

  • I've got a new iPod touch. How do I transfer songs from my old 'classic' iPod?

So I've got a new iPod touch for Christmas. I want to transfer all the music from my old iPod. I don't store music on my computer, it's just on the iPod. The only solution I can find is to download a program, copy everything from the old one to the computer and then move them to the new one! Seems a lot of work. Is there no official Apple way to just move music across?

Sadly my music collection is too big for the iPod so I gave to pick and choose which songs I want on the iPod at any one time.
    Ah! Well, here's a tip.
Use Smart Playlists to manage your iPod. This does of course mean using Sync to manage your iPod, but since manually managing is so much hard work, Syncing makes more sense...
By creating Smart Playlists, (which can add and remove songs according to rules you choose) you can create a Playlist which will be ever changing and you could then manage your iPod by Syncing Selected Playlists to it. You can experiment with Smart Playlists inside your iTunes Library without causing any irreversible damage. If you decide that you like - and can work with them, then is the time to start using them on your iPod.
    Examples:
Starting with a very basic Smart Playlist: This Playlist would contain all your songs, providing they haven't been played in x days/weeks/months. Look at the following screenshots:
In the shot above, I've created a Smart Playlist with the rule "Playlist is Music". This Playlist will automatically fill with all the songs in my Library, taking up 123.16GB in storage. Now look what happens if I tick the box named "Match only ticked items":
This step was simply to keep my Playlist tidy, i.e. not having music that I don't have on my iPod anyway. Watch what happens though, if I add another rule designed to keep out songs that I've played recently and so don't want to here again for a while:
With this one simple additional rule, my Playlist is reduced from 123GB to just 61.75GB. However, if I only have a 64GB iPod, then even that's too large, so by increasing the number of weeks...
... I reduce the size of the Playlist to a more manageable 51.18GB.
What happens then is that I Sync selected Playlists to my iPod, i.e. this Smart Playlist, which you'll notice I have named "Reduce size Playlist".
I then have 51GB of music on my iPod, which I can then look for (and play) in exactly the same way as before, by Artist, Song, Genre etc.
At the next Sync with your iTunes Library, any songs that have been played recently are removed from the Playlist, while any songs that were last played more than 125 weeks ago are added back to the Playlist and the Playlist on the iPod (and therefore the songs on the iPod) is updated.
Now - that's the basic version. By creating more sophisticated Smart Playlists, you can Sync selected Artists, Albums etc. with your iPod so that any songs that you always want on it are there, while songs you don't cherish so much are only put back on after a while of last playing. For example, you could have five star songs go back on after just two months, four star songs after three months, and so on. If you use Playlists, you can Sync those as well, so that you can play by Playlist if you so wish. You could even keep the Recently Played Playlist on your iPod so that all songs recently played are left on the iPod for two weeks after last being played. If a song gets played again, it stays in the Recently Played Playlist, so it stays on the iPod. But if it doesn't get played for two weeks, it gets removed from the iPod.
If this sounds as though may help you, but you need help with Smart Playlists, you can always ask in this forum.

  • Does anyone know how I can transfer songs from my old Dell Digital Jukebox to iTunes so I can sync them to my nano?

I have a new Windows 8.1 pc, and a new iPod nano 7th gen. How do I upload songs from my old Dell Digital Jukebox (yes, I know it's a dinosaur, but it still works great) to iTunes so I can sync those songs over to the nano?

Also, I should mention that I spoke to an Apple rep. He sent me a link to download a driver for the Jukebox once we found out that the pc did not recognize the device when I plugged it into the USB port. He told me that once I upload the driver, it will recognize it and I can just copy and paste the songs into a folder, then import them to iTunes. So far it has not worked and when I tried to call back, it looks like morning is the soonest I can speak to someone. So I'm trying on here.

  • How can i transfer non purchased music from my iPod classic to iTunes?

Recently, my laptop died and geek squad was unable to extract files from hard drive. How do I transfer non purchased music (burned cd's) from my ipod classic to itunes on my new laptop? Apple customer support suggested I engage support communities to find out about 3rd party software (not apple) that can accomplish this. Does anyone know of where I can find such software? Please and thank you

Back when I had to do something like that, I used Copytrans, http://www.copytrans.net/. You might see if they are what you want.
At worst, you could open the ipod classic in disk mode, locate the music files, copy them to your hard disk (they won't have good names), and just add them to your library. You'll probably lose play counts and *s with that approach, but it should work.

  • How do I transfer songs I bought on my iphone, to my laptop, so I can have songs in both places?

I have music on my laptop, a macbook air, and I also have a iphone4. I buy music on both, but I don't know how to transfer the songs from my iphone, which i purchased there, to my laptop? Does this mean i shoudl only purchase songs via my laptop, if I want them on my laptop?

Hm...ok...so I think I found the solution...right click on the iphone icon on computer's itunes...on transfer purchases.  i had right clicked on the folders and songs, but nothing.

  • How do i transfer songs and photos from an ipod to an iphone5

If anyone can help me that would be great in having a really hard time!

For music, you sync them to your phone from iTunes (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12313).  For camera roll photos, you can import them to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), put them in a folder, then sync them to your phone by selecting the folder on the photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  Or, you can use an app like PhotoSync to wirelessly transfer them to your phone.

  • How do you delete songs from iphone5, that are not in your iTunes library on the computer?! I have the spot unchecked where it says show all music and I still have songs on my iPhone that I want gone, but they're not in my iTunes library...HELP

I have a iPhone 5 with the most up to date software and I have songs appearing on my phone that I've deleted prior too from iTunes on the computer. How do I remove them from my phone, I've tried the left to right swipe and that just plays the songs! :/ Can anyone help me, I'd be forever grateful if I didn't have to go back to the store! I went I today abc he unchecked the show all music and there's still songs I don't want on my iPhone! :(

The answer to the question in the title of the thread is yes, but it is not necessarily a good idea. At some point you are likely to find you need to restore your iPod for one reason or another, or it could be lost, stolen or damaged. If your songs aren't on your computer, and backed up too, then you will be less than happy.

  • How do I delete songs from iPhone that are not in my iTunes library. "Swiping" to delete it does not work as the delete option does not appear.

Just tried to remove all songs by changing synch entire music library to selected playlists, didn't select anything and says 0 songs at top, however the 5 **** songs that I'm trying to remove are still left on my phone!! This is so stupid but bugging me so much!!

    Hi, Jixx0615.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
When you try to delete from a device running iOS 7, make sure to hold your finger on the song for a few seconds before swiping to the left. This should expose the red Delete button.
    Try Again,
