How do I transfer songs purchased on iphone to computer

When I sync my iphone to my computer it won't sync the songs I purchased on the iphone to my computer's itunes library. Why is this and can I override it? If I click on an option to sync it says it will erase everything on the iphone and replace with what's in my computer library. please help!

If you had Sync Music selected from the start, all music purchased direct on your iPhone would be transferred to your iTunes library on your computer automatically when syncing.
iTunes on your computer also includes an option to automatically download music that was purchased direct with your iPhone without having to sync to do this.
With your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
This will transfer all iTunes content on your iPhone that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes Store direct on your iPhone that is not currently in your iTunes library such as any books, tones, and apps.

You don't. Sync via iTunes to PC/Mac, then to other device.
Otherwise people could "share" all their purchased music.

if they're songs you purchased from itunes go to the itunes store on your ipad, go to purchased, and download from there.

If they were purchased then you simply transfer purchases

Songs should reside in iTunes, if you have any non-purchased content on the phone you will need a 3rd party program to transfer

If the iPhone and iTunes aren't logged into the same account, the existing iTunes library will be replaced with the current iPhone music library.

Every iTunes library must include the .itl file.  Depending on how you've configured Windows Explorer, it may be listed as "iTunes Library" without the .itl extension.  Check the iTunes folder on your old computer (default location C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes) - you should see something like this:
or this (if file extensions are being displayed):
Otherwise search your old computer for *.itl.

Transfer all the songs from iphone to your iTunes first then sync to your ipod direclty. You can use an ipod to computer transfer program to help. The best way to share music between iphone and ipod is to use your iTunes.
    Hope it helps.

  • How do you transfer songs from an iPhone to a computer

My laptop bit the dust so I had to replace it.  I am trying to transfer songs from my iphone to the new laptop but the "sync" function only works in the other direction and would errase all the songs on my iphone.  Any suggestions?

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.  Use it to put everything back.

  • How can I transfer songs from my iphone to my itunes on my mac

I have music on my iphone that was not purchased on itunes (or it was but not on my account), I would like to transfer my music from my iphone on to my laptop itunes without syncing (otherwise i loose all my other music)
is there a way i can do this.

You can read the methods below about how to transfer music from iPhone to iTunes:
    Method 1: Through iTunes
    1. Connect iPhone to COMPUTER.
    2. Launch the iTunes, and synchronize it with the iPhone.
    3. Copy the music from iTunes to pc.
    Method 2: Through iCloud
    1. Set up iCloud both on iPhone plus pc. Set up the Windows edition if your PC is with Windows COMPUTER SYSTEM.
    2. Start the Synchronize feature of the iCloud in the iPhone settings.
    3. Sign in the iCloud with the Apple ID on the pc, and you are able to deal with your iPhone data at this moment.
    4. Decide on the songs in your iPhone and synchronize them in your Computer’s iCloud, if you wish to put them in particular folders, you are able to down load the songs to your local folder.
Method 3 Try iPhone Transfer for Mac.

  • How can i transfer songs from my iPhone 4s to new mac

I recently got a new MacBook (My first one ) but the problem is my old PC crashed and I lost all of my songs that were on that computer. The only songs I have left are on my iPhone. Is there anyway I could simply transfer the songs on my iPhone to my new MacBook? of course, when I go to "sync" my phone to my new iTunes, which is my old account, it says that everything will be erased and what is in my new iTunes library (which is empty) will be transfered to my phone.
Please help!!!! I am still learning this MacBook so please forgive my stupidity! Go Team Apple!

Re-downloading all your purchased music (apps, ibooks, videos, everything) is easy if you purchased them from Apple. Assuming they are still available, you simply download them again: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Retrieving music that you copied from CD or other sources is not easy. Music is supposed to go from your computer to the iPhone, not the other way around. Moving its content to a computer is contrary to the design.
I wish I had a dollar for everyone with a Windows PC who asked this question. Given their predilection for attracting viruses and other sordid malware, Windows PCs crash with disturbing regularity. Now that you made the wise decision to replace it with a MacBook, get an external backup disk (external hard disk drive, or Time Capsule) and simply use Time Machine. Plug it in and Time Machine does the rest. The drudgery of backing up your system becomes painless and totally forgettable, and recovering from a crash becomes a non-event.
Here is some guidance retrieved from an old post. Since it is old, some of the links may not work:
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • How do I transfer songs from my iPhone to iTunes?

My laptop crashed so I had to recover the whole thing.. I've transfered the songs I've bought from itunes, but how do I transfer the songs from my iPhone that I didn't buy from itunes over to itunes .. If that made any sence.

Your question has probaby been answered already because it was posted a month ago but anyways what you do is you plug your phone into your computer. Next you want to open iTunes and click on File. Then you go down to "Transfer Purchases from *your name* iPhone". Then just wait for it to sync and you should be good.
