How do I transfer the iLife suite to a new (used) macbook

I recently bought a new (but used) macbook pro running mountain lion. I currently own a macbook pro running mountain lion also.  I am having no luck transfering the iLife suite to the new macbook.
Help is appreciated

Did you buy one of the machines new in the past couple years?  If so you should see the iLife applications in your purchases tab in the Mac App Store.
If not, you should purchase the individual apps in the Mac App Store and then you can install the latest versions on each machine you own.

  • I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?

I'm moving an internal hard drive from an old computer to a new computer.  (My new compute runs Windows 8.1) How do I transfer the catalog data to my new computer so the Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 will find the data on the hard that has been moved to the new computer?  Is this possible or do I have to use the procedure of copying the catalog along with the photos to a back up hard drive and then restore them on the new computer?

The 'normal' procedure is to do a PSE organizer backup (not a copy or a backup from external tools) to an external drive, then a restore to the new location.
The advantage is that you have a backup of both catalog and media files and you don't have all disconnected files, which would happen with external backup tools. Also, if you restore with a more recent elements version, the catalog will be automatically updated to the new format.
The drawback in your situation is that you'll have either to overwrite all your files or restore to a custom location, creating a duplicate photo library (which supposes you have enough free space).
It would be possible to simply use the organizer in the old PC to move the catalog to a new 'custom' folder just under your C: root drive. The catalog would be accessible once the drive will be installed in the new PC. Then you would have all files 'disconnected' due to the fact that all your media files are now on a drive with a different letter. Reconnecting a whole library is a hard job with PSE6, less so with PSE11/PSE12.
If the idea of fiddling with the sqlite database with external sqlite manager tools is ok for you, I can describe the process more in detail. You only copy your catalog folder (as suggested above) to another location. Instead of trying the 'reconnection' way, you install the sqlite utility on the new computer. When the old drive is installed in the new computer, you simply edit a given record in the catalog database, catalog.psedb, and start the organizer with your copied catalog by simply double clicking the 'catalog.psedb' file.
Even if the last solution is much, much quicker, I would still create a new PSE backup : you have never too much safety .

  • Ive just got a refurbed macbook I don't seem to have iWeb (i have iPhoto) how do I get the iLife suite?

Where can I get iLife? im really need iWeb and cant find where to download it. its not on the app store? Please help I thought it came as standard on all macs?
Its a Apple refurbished macboook pro, just got it today.

If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How do I change the personal settings and "reset" a used MacBook Air?

My friend bought a MacBook Air for work but it turned out that his office wasn't MAC friendly so he sold it to me. How do I change the user name/password to be mine? He also asked if I could make sure his personal info. is gone from the computer. I'm not really experienced with Macs - is this something I can do at home and avoid a trip to the genius bar. I'm studying for law school finals and would love to avoid losing time, precious time! Also, on the Macbook I use now I have Microsoft word installed - can I transfer that to the Air and can I transfer my ical entries? Any help would be much appreciated. Sorry if these are silly questions. Thanks.

Set up the wireless network booting on which, my old mac book or the air?
Set it up on the old MacBook.
How will the air even appear on the network if I can't log in?
Just follow the instructions linked to above. Unless there's a firmware password on the computer, don't be concerned about the fact you don't have a password for it.

  • How do I transfer the music from my iPhone to my MacBook?

I recently purchased a 2007 MacBook online. Everything works fine, I don't think it's the computer that's the problem. The iTunes that I downloaded on it was to old so I had to update it to the latest version. At the time I was also updating my Mac software to OS X Snow Leopard and it had finished when I was about half way done downloading iTunes. It said I had to restart my computer so I did thinking that I would stop downloading and I would just have to re-download it again after I started my computer up again. To my surprise when I had started it up again the newest version of iTunes was downloaded. So I procceded to sync my iPhone to iTunes and all my stuff shows up with the iCloud sign in the bottom left corner. When I tried to iCloud it onto my computer it said that this computer was not authorised and that if I wanted to download these songs I would need to authorise this computer in the iTunes Store. So I went to authorise it and that took forever because the newest version of iTunes is so different from the older versions and I was very confused. Eventually I got to authorise it and then I left the store. When I got back to the library I found that all my music was gone. So I synced it again and that didn't work so for a while I was stumped. Then I found the "Transfer Purchases from "iPhone" " button and I clicked on that. So it downloaded all of my songs except they are a light shade of gray and I can't play them because they are not completly downloaded on my computer. It has a dotted circle around the ones that still need to be downloaded and I can't for the life of me figure out how to download them! I found that it downloads recent purchases that I have made ever since I set up iTunes on my computer but not the ones I made previous to setting up iTunes on this computer. I have a hunch that this is maybe because it didn't get the chance to finish downloading... I'm very confused and I'm deciding if it will just be easier to un-download it and the re-download it. Please help!

  • I bought a new computer. How do I transfer my Adobe Suite to my new computer?

Do I have to uninstall on my old computer firest? Step by step would be awesome!

if you no longer want cs in your older computer, open each program and click help>deactivate.
once you've deactivated, you can uninstall.
in you new computer install your program(s) and activate with your serial number.
you are allowed up to two concurrent activations so you need not deactivate and uninstall from your old computer if your new computer will contain your 2nd activation.

  • Im changing my PC to a new one, how can I transfer Adobe Creative Suit from my old PC to my new PC?

Im changing my PC to a new one, how can I transfer Adobe Creative Suit from my old PC to my new PC? I bought it online, so the serial is on my profile.

You need to install the software on the new machine the same way you installed it on the old machine.  You are allowed to have two activated installations if you would like to retain the original installation as a backup.  If not, then you should deactivate it (Help -> Deactivate in any program),
If you have a download link in your account online you can use that or you can download thru the page linked below...

You don't transfer anything. You simply deactivate on the old system from the Apple menu --> Deactivate and then install from scratch on the new one.

  • Help Please..Until recently I have owed 2 iPod Classics - 2007 80gb and 2009 160gb (which has since been returned). How do I transfer the library from the 160 to the 80gb in iTunes using Windows Vista (ie merge the 2 libraries)? Thanks

Until recently I have owed 2 iPod Classics - 2007 80gb and 2009 160gb (which has since been returned as it had a very noisy hard drive).
How do I transfer the library from the 160gb  to the 80gb in iTunes using Windows Vista.
Nothing seems to help on the Apple support pages, so any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but not actually sure how to sync a second iPod with the library of the first, as I thought it would not recognise a new iPod for copyright reasons.
Also, the files are in a location on the pc but I had to do lots of formatting amendments in iTunes as most of the stuff was on mp3 files and the formatting was all over the place. I did not want to loose any of the work by simply asking the new iPod to look at the original file and would rather copy en masse from one device to another.
Any help or pointers greatly appreciated
    Thanks
