How do I transfer VHS to iMac

I've seen video capture devices for connecting my iMac  to a VCR. They seem to run the gamut from $20 to $200. How do I choose?

This one is pretty good & reasonable:  $79.99

You can connect your iPhone to your computer.  Once your phone is connected via the USB cable to the computer, iTunes should launch.  If it doesn't, you can launch iTunes manually.
In iTunes, you should see your iPhone button appear at the top right next to the iTunes Store button (this is for iTunes 11).  Click on that button and you can choose how or what songs you want to sync over to iTunes.

  • Does anyone know how I can transfer VHS home movies from my VHS player via my iMac to a DVD

Does anyone know if 'Dazzle' works with Mac to transfer VHS tapes from a video player to a DVD via an iMac?

Also, I should mention that I spoke to an Apple rep. He sent me a link to download a driver for the Jukebox once we found out that the pc did not recognize the device when I plugged it into the USB port. He told me that once I upload the driver, it will recognize it and I can just copy and paste the songs into a folder, then import them to iTunes. So far it has not worked and when I tried to call back, it looks like morning is the soonest I can speak to someone. So I'm trying on here.

  • Transfer VHS to iMac.....then to DVD later

How can I go about doing this? I have read everywhere that I need a converter such as the one dazzle makes, but all those seem to be PC only, right? I am looking to transfer from VHS to my new Intel iMac then eventually to DVD later on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Program,
I've transferred 9 years of family vhs and Hi8 tapes to DVD via the ADVC 100 from Canopus. If I had to do it over again, I'd buy the ADVC 50. The difference is the 100 allows me to reverse the process, i.e., transfer from digital back to analog vhs (a feature I've never used). I import the old tapes thus: vhs player connected by RCA jacks to inputs on ADVC, then ADVC firewire into the iMac with iMovie. Once iMovie has finished rendering, I edit and pass off to iDVD where I add themes, effects, and chapters before burning. Once I burn my dvd, I burn a copy for each of my kids before deleting the iMovie and iDVD files. With my new iMac, additional dvds burn in 20 minutes or so. Slick.

  • How can I transfer podcast from iMac G4 to iPad?

    Hello,
I used to download a radio program -- 11+MB -- to my MacBook Nothing; but it was stolen.
Now, I am using an iMac G4 running Tiger; when the program is downloaded it goes to iTunes, in Music.
After that, I add the date to the number of the episode and change the file to manage it as a podcast.
I want to be able to bring some of these episodes to my iPad running iOS 6 -- not using iCloud.
How canI get this done? I have a Wi-Fi network at home.
    Best regards,
Jorge Lucas (the guy from Rio Grande do Sul)

I installed a new iTunes (same as the one I had [11.1.5]).
I still only have Apps, Books, TV, Movies, and Music, as options for connection.

  • How do i transfer program from iMac to macbook with no disk drive

Hi I have a imac with cs5. I now have a macbook pro with no disk drive. How do i download the older cs5 onto my new macbook pro? Thanks

You are allowed to have up to two activated installations of each version license you own, so unless you have already installed it to another system, you should be fine.  If not, phone customer support.  I've never heard of them refusing to reset a person's activations.

The App Store version of iWork ‘09 programs will only work with 10.7 or 10.8. You can get the Work ’09 DVD which will run on 10.6  on eBay fairly cheap. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p4684.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0&_nkw=iwork+%270 9&_sacat=0&_from=R40

  • How to manually transfer songs from iMac to iphone

Hoping someone can help. I have a macbook air, an imac and an iphone. The imac has my main music library, simply made up from my own CDs uploaded into it and individual songs and albums purchased off itunes. I simply want to be able to move songs and albums between the 3 devices and so far have not been able to do this. This is extremely frustrating as not only have I bought and paid for all of the music (itunes have done especially well out of me!), but these are expensive and sophisticated devices and yet they will not let me listen to my own music on them!
So to keep it simple, here is what I would really appreciate some help with. Currently my iphone is synced with my macbook air and therefore has some of the macbook air itunes library on it. The iphone will not accept any songs from the imac, purchased or downloaded form my CDs and I cannot delete the songs on the iphone that I don't want. They keep popping back up when I do manage to delete them, then have to be downloaded again just so I can delete them again! So ideally I would like to wipe all of the music off my iphone and start again. And starting again I would like to simply be able to upload my own CDs from the imac in my itunes library on the imac onto the phone, and to upload songs and albums downloaded from itunes on the imac, onto the iphone.
Despite my furstration up until now I have been a big fan of apple products, but not being able to manage my own music on my own devices in a simple and uaser freindly amnner is driving me crazy! The intelligent and intuitive navigation and functionality that apple has built its reputation on completely falls down when it comes to itunes and music, for me at least and to add insult to injury they are making a fortune off people like me on itunes!
    Any help gratefully received.

Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202 - You can manage your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers as long as you have set the device to "Manually manage music."  -  E.g., adding music from a second computer to an i-device. • How do I transfer VHS-C footage??

I have old homevideos on VHS-C that I wanted to put on DVDs....what sort of device do I need to do that? I have an ibook with a superdrive already so i just need to know what it is that can import the footage onto my mac. Thanks...

    Audra,
    Welcome to the iDVD forum!
You need a "Bridge" that converts standard composite video/audio (your AV jacks on the VHS-C Camcorder or even your VCR) to DV (firewire/1394/iLink).
Two most common methods are: 1)standalone AV/DV bridge, or 2) a DV camcorder that has an AV/DV converter built in.
I like solution #2 - it's not much more expensive than #1, and you get a new DV camcorder too to make new DV video! You hook up the VHS-C or VCR to the new DV camcorder, and the use the firewire cable from the new DV camcorder to your mac......
Just make sure the DV camcorder has AV?DV "pass thru" mode. I've used this to convert most of my old 8mm and Hi8 tapes to DV, and even some old VHS home movies taken by others.

  • How do I transfer my data from a HDD to an iMac?

Several days ago, my aging MacBook Pro suddenly died on me. A repair technician I know diagnosed the laptop as having a bad logic board. We assume the MBP's internal hard drive (an aftermarket disk, installed by the same technician only a couple of years ago) is still functional.
I just bought a refurbished late-2012-model 21.5-inch Core i5 iMac. I want to have my technician-friend extract the MBP's hard drive from the laptop, put it in a cheap USB enclosure, and then copy the info from the hard drive onto the new iMac.
    SPECIFICS:
MacBook Pro 2,2 (2.33 GHz, aftermarket 500 GB HDD, MacOS 10.6.8)
    iMac (late-2012 refurb, 2.9 GHz Core i5, 1 TB HDD, MacOS 10.8)'
These are the specs as I understand them.
I use LaCie's SilverKeeper for backups. My last backup for the MacBook Pro was getting a little old and I wanted to extract the info directly from the laptop's hard drive because there was some recent data on there I really wanted to save.
Is there a technique for copying only certain information over from an old hard drive to the new computer?
I want my e-mail (messages, accounts, passwords, signatures), calendar, address book, notes, iTunes, Safari bookmarks/history/passwords, and FireFox bookmarks/history/passwords all to be transferred over immediately. I have multiple e-mail accounts and social media activities set up and I want to be able to access them right away.
Is there an automated way to do this?

A perplexing notion occurred to me today. A friend who is a technician extracted the hard disk from my (dead) MacBook Pro, and I am getting ready to go pick that one up from him. I will follow the Setup Assistant procedure for that hard disk, transferring the data from the remains of my old MacBook Pro to my new iMac. That will be a no-brainer.
But now there is another concern on my mind.
For years, I have used a 1.25 GHz G4 iMac (an "igloo" iMac) as a part-time workstation and file server. It is sitting on the same table as the new Core i5 iMac. I want to transfer the information off of the old G4 iMac into the new Core i5 iMac as well. (I will be slowly phasing out the "igloo" iMac over time; it still gives my access to old software that I'm not able to replace just yet.) The old G4 "igloo" has USB 2 and FireWire 400 ports. The "new" Core i5 iMac has Thunderbolt, USB 3 and I also have a couple of Thunderbolt-to-FireWire 800 adaptors that I bought with the new iMac.
Even though the old G4 "igloo" will still have some use left in it, I want to transfer over the data to the new Core i5 machine in preparation for the eventual decommissioning of the G4 "igloo". What is the best way fo doing this? Both iMacs will have password-protected user folders, but I never used File Vault.
How do I transfer the old iMac's data over to the new iMac?

  • How do I transfer files from 10.4 to 10.10?

How do I transfer files from iMac 10.4 to 10.10?

Thanks.  I purchased a Sandisk flash drive for this purpose but did not notice that it only compatible back to 10.5, so my 10.4 won't recognize it.  I think there was a major change going from 10.4 to 10.5 (32 bit to 64 bit?).  I will look for a flash drive that will cover both 10.4 and 10.10.
